Weak wrists are now irrelevant!
Iâve been doing yoga for 10 months, and my remaining weaknesses are my wrists. Iâm 65 years old (woman, size medium/7 glove) and have arthritis in my fingers, but it started in my wrists about 10 years ago. I struggle to stay in plank and downward dog poses because my wrists hurt too much after about 30 seconds. Then a few weeks ago, I started having sharp pain in my right outer wrist, too much to bear weight at all. I did NOT want to pause yoga for the 6 weeks it might take for that wrist to heal, so I hit the internet for help. These blocks had âfree return,â so what the heck, letâs try them. I cannot believe the difference! Not only am I able to bear weight in my right hand, there is no pain in that wrist! And, get this, I can hold plank and downward dog for as long as the instructor says to! Oh, and I did my first side plank ever this week! Down side is now Iâve overworked my back, since I could stay in downward dog while doing all these leg lifts, haha! The molded finger space is larger than my hands but this is irrelevant. I did notice while in downward dog, my sweaty hands slid forward, pushing my index fingers up a bit but not a problem. Okay be warned, all of my forward weight is now on the center palm toward my thumb base, but I donât have arthritis there, so no pain. I am aware, of course, that my wrists will not strengthen or get more flexible using these blocks, but after 10 months, I donât guess they were going to.

These “blocks” have imprints of the palmar aspect of your hands so one can actually enlist the muscles of the hand and forearm in simple plank, push-ups, and any other pose requiring the hands to be used directly or inderectly below one’s shoulders to hold oneself up. The blocks utilize these hand imprints to allow for two different levels making side bends or side poses available to those who cannot reach the floor without block, again reducing wrist joint stress. My only critique is that they slide on one’s mat should the force applied to the be tangential; as tangiential forces exist in poses such as downward dog.

I’m a woman in my 70’s with sore base of the thumbs and hand tendonitis. I can do push ups very comfortably with these wrist buddy yoga blocks. I am comfortably giving them a very HIGH recommendation!!

Shifts weight but MOSTLY to thumb area & radius. Stupid cat damaged 1 block so I can’t return.
Perhaps the grip width/position simply isn’t good for my tiny hands?? The *idea* is great. My wrists ARE in a better position. For these reasons, I’m not giving less than 3 stars.HOWEVER…in *reality* while your weight IS shifted to your palm instead of wrists… it’s roughly only A THIRD of your palm. Once I’m in a plank position, the thumb joint and pad of soft tissue under the thumb joint takes about **70%** of my weight distribution.It painfully stretches the thin web of skin between my thumb and pointer finger (1st pic), stresses out my thumb joint, and puts strain on the radial bone area (2nd pic). The padded area of the palm under the thumb (3rd pic) is a major soft tissue trigger point; those muscles ACHE now. There’s also the radial digital artery and median nerve running through there. With my full, planked body weight on that area for several seconds…my hand starts to go NUMB.Buuut I can’t return these because I’m an idiot!! ð I left these sitting out overnight in my living room…and one of my darn cats sunk their claws into the Right Hand block! Since they’re no longer in like new condition because of the puncture holes in the area shown (4th pic), I’ve just WASTED $44 after taxes.

Wow, what a great idea and design for those of us ‘wrist challenged’!
I did not even know this kind of thing existed till a short while ago.Truly a clever idea and well executed. The material is the familiar mostly sturdy yoga block foam, so does have some compress-ability. And the cutouts for the palm, thumb and fingers works wonderfully. A huge benefit in not having to have one’s wrists bent at a 90 degree angle when using a yoga block. As well, the Wrist Buddy contoured shape is a much better fit than compared to using the narrower 3″ wide yoga blocks with fingers and thumb draped around the edges. Brilliant.

I have hypermobile joints from Ehlers Danlos syndrome in my hands and started having issues with pain in the base of my thumbs last year. I can’t do a plank or anything with bodyweight on my flat hands anymore. These are a lifesaver and are keeping me going with pilates mat and yoga workouts. I’ve had them for about a year now and they have been so helpful for getting back into shape after injury! They aren’t perfect (they are a little big for my hands, etc.) but so much better than any other solution I’ve tried.

I purchased these because I have wrist issues and thought they’d be way more comfortable than push up bars or dumbbells. They ARE much more comfortable, distributing my weight over more surface of the hands reducing pressure points. Be careful if using on carpet or a thicker yoga mat as they are not as stable as when they are on hard flooring.Over all a good purchase, I just feel like they were a bit expensive for what I was getting.
