I purchased this product as I recently bought a Weber kettle and wanted to do some longer cooks. I was looking for a sleek thermometer which could alert me on my phone while I was in the house, and this does the job well.Product came partially charge, as most do. Topped it off quickly, very easy to charge. You charge the case and the case charges the probe, which is nice. Seems that the case would be able to charge the probe multiple times.In order to use this, you must download the app. The app is a simple and effective, facilitates a quick connection/pairing to the probe. The app also has a temperature alarm, timer, and you can set up multiple profiles for different meats. This way, if you are doing a brisket or ribs, you can save the profile for temperature steps prior to wrap and after wrap. I found that the probe’s battery life lasted between 4-5 hours. When I changed the ribs, I cleaned the probe, charged it in the case, and then re-used. The charging was quick and it was ready after wrapping.The distance in which the wireless works is pretty good. I found that for my grill on my deck, I had to leave the case halfway between where the grill was and where I was in the house. The probe connects to the case and the case connects to your phone. If you move too far away, the app alarms stating you lost connection. This is a limitation of Bluetooth, maybe WIFI would be better in a future version.I was happy with how this worked, and can’t wait to use for a brisket next.

I have few thermometers that are your standard big round display and one that I recently donated to charity which was with a long-insulated wire that I don’t recall the last time I used it because it was not very easy to use.This device was easy to charge. The case charges your probe similar to your air pods. The connection to the app was easy and it worked well with one exception: if you use the probe inside the oven, make sure the probe is fully inserted and only the handle is exposed. This will avoid any disconnects from the BT while in the oven.Otherwise, to just check the temperature at any given time for cooking on stove or open grill, just insert the probe and watch the temperature displayed instantly.The app also has the option to alert you, which I still need to experiment a little more as someone’s medium rare or rare might be different from the next person, especially when cooking smaller meats like 6oz thick sirloins.I tried using this when cooking chicken breast as well as turkey meatloaf. Both came out pretty accurate and how I would usually time them.Overall, very nice probe but maybe in the next model, they would offer a small sleeve that you would slide on the probe first for meats that are not as thick and big as the probe’s length, as you need to fully cover it to avoid the BT signal to stay on without any issues. Again, this is only when you have smaller pieces of meats, but for a turkey, family size meatloaf, etc. this will do the job.
