Funny and fun card game!
I bought this card pack for one of my friends and they loved it. It was easy to figure out, play, and have fun with. The game is geared more towards preteens and up as some of the concepts are a bit hard for kids to understand but it’s still great. The pacing is a bit slower than regular card games but that is because you are depending on other people so it can take longer than expected. It’s a great buy for family fun!

This was a lot of fun and we were able to get playing quickly.

Beautifully made, fun, and infinite possibilities! Great game!
I absolutely love this game. Let me explain:Many complain about the âsetupâ and instructions. There is virtually no setup to this game. There are white cards that you donât shuffle into the black deck. You choose one of the white cards. The end. Then itâs just like any other card game as far as shuffling and dealing. There are even charts in the instructions. If youâve ever played a strategy or RPG card game before, youâll be fine. If not… I would think you would still be fine…? Maybe you have issues with maps too?The instructions… well, I donât know how they would make them any easier, honestly. They are mind boggling at first, yes. But as any good teacher would attest, there are some things that you have to do in order to understand, and reading about it wonât teach. Once you start playing and get the flow, return back to the instructions when youâre unsure of something. Now, another thing I noticed in the reviews is that people are upset itâs inappropriate for children. On my box, it says very clearly âages 14+â. Now, I did play with my 12 year old and I didnât find a problem. I realize I do not have the first edition. Two things about that: check it out before you play with your kid, since it does say 14 and up; and there are no truly inappropriate cards in the second edition. The only thing is that some unicorns kill other unicorns… so if you donât want your kid playing a game where they cause imaginary death to imaginary animals (and I get that), then donât play with kids. I find it a perfect tweet and teen game, and I actually really enjoy this game as well. This game reminded me how much I loved these types of games. I am SO pleased with the purchase.Besides game play, the cards are well drawn and colorful, and I love that they color-coded the corners to show you easily what type of card it is. That makes the cards that allow you to search the deck so much easier to execute, and the instructions on types of cards also. But the packaging is so great! It is easy to store, it is cute, and there is room for more cards if you buy expansions.Overall, I give this game 5/5 stars. Honestly, I would give it an extra star if I could. It is well-made and Iâm excited to play more and see what happens. There is one section of the instructions that havenât even come into play yet, so I want to keep playing to see when I get a hand that triggers this.

Lots of fun!
After a couple of rounds with my friends, I can say that the game is pretty awesome. The mechanics of the game can get pretty complex depending on how everyone plays, but you can understand enough to feel comfortable playing pretty easily.

A fun game with some shortcomings
I got Unstable Unicorns to play with my kids (8 and 10) since it was 50% off, and it’s pretty fun once you play a few hands. My kids love the illustrations and it’s actually a great way to encourage them to read and pay attention to detail since most cards / abilities are unique.I have two complaints:1. The physical deck of cards is made of cheap materials. They feel ‘normal’, but we’ve only played twice and the cards are already bending, curing, rippling, etc. Its pretty disapointing for a $20 card game.2. I personally feel there are too many details to keep track of for kids under 12; and as an adult, reading all of the cards time and time again slows the game down and detracts from the fun. I feel like ages 10-16 is the ideal demographic for this one. This game could be streamlined and made quite a bit better, but it is a game my kids really engage with. The $11 I paid feels much more appropriate than the $20+ retail price, so I feel it was a worthy purchase.

Really fun game
Once you get the hang of this game, it is sooo fun! Itâs a thinker and thereâs so much strategy youâre able to do.

Big horror fan here, this had some great classic horror movie references and added some fun twists to the base game

Awesome game!
I just played a couple games with my family (4 players total, me and my two brothers ages 16-20 and our mom) one game with the default cards, and two with the Rainbow Apocalypse expansion mixed in. Most card games tend to just play themselves, but this one actually takes some thought and strategy. The game is somewhat complex and has a little bit of a learning curve. Still, it should be easy enough to grasp after playing a game or two, even for younger children. My only suggestion would be giving basic unicorn cards more of a use, because they are just strictly worse than magical unicorns. They don’t feel very good to play when you could be playing a comparatively stronger and more impactful card instead. A couple times during our games, one of our hands would be clogged with too many basic unicorn cards and it takes a lot of turns to be able to use them all. There are cards to solve this problem, but sometimes you won’t end up drawing any. (Because all you’re drawing is basic unicorn cards!!) Not a big deal by any means, but something simple like adding some cards that interact with them or maybe being able to play two in a turn by sacraficing your draw would make basic unicorns way more interesting. That said, the overall balance of the cards is pretty good. Some magical unicorns do feel a little strong, mainly the ones that allow you to bring out multuple unicorns in a turn. It’s not a big deal though because neigh cards do a good job at stopping those overly strong moves. They also allow other players to interject when someone is close to winning, which makes games quite close and intense. It also leads to hilarious moments when everyone throws down neighs to block other player’s neighs. If you are looking for a card game to play, this is the one! 10/10 would recommend!

it’s pretty fun, although it could end a bit fast if you have the right hand of cards. My 5 years old daughter love the cards design, YET it’s a bit complicated to her.

Bought this after kids played with friends. Fun game for the entire family.
