The Dr. will see you now. Basketball’s Dr. J — Julius Erving — operates on the competitors on this hoop-it-up disco-era fantasy a couple of crew on a profitable streak when it indicators up motley gamers born below the zodiac’s fish signal of Pisces. Will the Dr. in the home, trademark cloud-walking, net-shredding slam dunks are plentiful. Extra hoops pleasure follows because the Harlem Globetrotters’ Meadowlark Lemon handles the rock as if he had extra arms than an octopus and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar exhibits his profitable type as effectively. Off the courtroom, Flip Wilson is a beleaguered coach and Jonathan Winters performs the twin roles of an ill-natured mogul and a sweet-natured nitwit. The world is not spherical in The Fish That Saved Pittsburgh. It is spherical ball. Fish fever — hook it!

Somehow I Remembered It Was Better Than This
I remembered watching this movie when I was a kid on TV, and thought it was great basketball movie with the greatest player Dr. J. Now watching it again, it didn’t seem as exciting. As a kid, I thought Dr. J was the greatest and his court skills was great to watch and it was displayed in this movie in the game action. In the era of ESPN and YouTube, basketball highlights are seen all the time, and with awe from action of Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, Lebron and etc. The basketball action of this movie seems dull, and Dr. J. just doesn’t seem that great. So it was actually deflating to watch this movie again, because Dr. J didn’t shine as I remembered him when I was a kid.

    Nostalgia
I watch this because it’s funny to watch Dr. J try to act. Make your astrology obsessed girlfriend watch and find out if they were as faithful to the stars as they are to basketball

Dated? Yes of course! However, this was my first time watching this on DVD. Just fun entertainment. The child actor was impressive, but a little too much lol. If you want a retro 1970’s Disco pop cultured fun filled, silly movie-then this one is for you. Dr. J, Flip Wilson, Stockard Channing, and Kareem Abdul Jabbar make the all definitive 70’s pop cultured cast as well. Enjoy!

I remember taking my new girlfriend (now wife of 30 years) to this movie. My recollection was that it was an entertaining sports movie with a great soundtrack.Wrong on both counts. The screenplay is horrible, acting is terrible, and the soundtrack could be in the elevators of most large buildings.DVD’s do a great job of ruining nostalgia.
