It has 3 settings. high , low and away. I don’t know what away is but the low and high mean how sensitivethe clapper is to your claps. On low , I slam my hands together Really Loud and sometimes I have to do this 2 or 3 times. I am strong so it should work once. Hence Low is no good for me.On High, once in a while there will be a loud sound like a book being slammed down on a table and the clapper will turn on or off the lamp. But this is rare. So I have it on High and am happy with it.

I purchased this for my mother who has very poor dexterity due to arthritis. She is able to clap – although a bit weakly so. Nevertheless, she can now control her room light instead of waiting for us to come by and adjust her lighting for her.Some days, as we were working or running errands, she would have to patiently wait for us to turn her lamp on or off. Now she has a little more control.If there was anything that could be changed, I wish I could adjust the sensitivity of the clap sound. At her weakened state, her claps are soft and are not always detected by the device. We moved the clapper up to her night stand and secured it safely to the side by bringing up a heavy duty extension cord through the table, yet out of the way. This makes it physically close to her. So far so good.

I remember seeing these on commercials thinking they were so cool! I took a chance, even though I have experience with wifi lights, etc. let me tell you. NO. don’t subject yourself to the torture. My hands were red and I could barely get it right, it’s a big pain in the butt. I could see back in the day why these could be popular..but there are much better options. My son was able to get it because he plays musical instruments and has rhythm. I was on the struggle bus and was not having fun with ‘the clapper’ I sent that crap back ASAP.

Been watching these advertisements since I was a kid. Bought this because I moved my bed and can’t reach the light switch. The clapper works well! Read instructions for sure! “Clap” pause “Clap” is key! Don’t clap too fast with not enough pause or it won’t work.
