Solid pack at an amazing price!
Wow! I have to admit that I was a little skeptical when I saw the price ($55 for the green/black model when I bought it), but I knew that I did NOT want to spend a ton of money for something I’ll use at most a couple times a year. I need something that’s tough enough, large enough, versatile enough, and practical enough to use backpacking or for overnight trips. For the few times I’ve used this pack so far, it has absolutely fit the bill. When full, it sits comfortably, even after hauling about 35 lbs around in it for 5-6 hours. It doesn’t have loads of room inside, but I count that as a good thing, otherwise I know I’d be tempted to overpack. It should have just the right amount of space for 4-5 days, if I pack smart.The material, padding, and zippers all seem tough and not likely to fail on me when I need them. There are enough pockets, loops, and the like to be versatile. I especially like the lid, which has a double pouch: one is accessible from the bottom of the lid (when open), and the other from the top. It’s big enough for those things you need to grab in a hurry on a hike: raingear, trail lunch, headlamp, first aid kit, and the like. The side pockets are very roomy. I was even able to fit a medium-sized plastic bowl and mug in the large side pocket pocket. The bottom compartment is perfect for a sleeping bag–it worked pretty well with my bag just rolled up, but with my bag in a compression sack, I can fit everything I need for sleeping in that bottom compartment. If you want to use the tool loops for trekking poles, you’ll need something to attach them to the bag higher up. I made some webbing out of shock cord ($5 total for the cord and a toggle) between the two daisy chain sets of loops on the front. I haven’t used this configuration outdoors yet, but I’m hoping it will do the trick not only for my poles, but also for anything else I may want to stick in there.The side pockets have a pass-through space behind them–for tent poles or anything else long–, but it’s not very useful if you need to access those items on the trail, especially if the pockets are full. I’m sure it would be fine if you stuck your tent poles in there, then loaded up the pockets, and didn’t need to touch the poles until you got to camp again, but it’s a real pain to get things in and out of there with the pockets full.But that’s a very minor thing. Are there better packs out there? Sure. Is the difference worth $150-$250? I can’t imagine it is! So, overall, I’m extremely pleased with this bag. There are lots of YouTube reviews of this pack, and the consensus is that it’s a tough and very useful pack, and you absolutely can’t beat the price. I completely agree!

I’m really happy I got this backpack. After shopping online and going to several major outlets where I was almost convinced to buy a $250 backpack…I decided to dig around a bit more and stumbled upon this backpack. I wasn’t sure about it at first but decided that with Amazon’s excellent return policy, it was worth the risk.I’m glad I got this thing. There’s plenty of room for a 2-3 day hike. You can easily fit in extra clothing, food, and supplies inside the main compartment. The two separate compression straps are a godsend because most packs I’ve found only had one. So this gives you a lot of flexibility in what to place where.I strapped my sleeping pad to the top, sleeping bag to the bottom, and then stuffed my tent and other supplies into the bottom portion of the bag and still had plenty of room to spare in multiples pockets. What’s not visible in the picture is that not only are there 3 side pockets and 2 bottle pockets on the sides, but also that the top cover has two pockets as well. One is accessible from the outside and the other is accessible once you open the pack. The pockets are really spacious and can fit lots of stuff in there as well.The bag is also easily adjustable for height and width (for your waist) and is very comfortable to wear and lug 50 lbs of gear around on mountaintops (as I did).Furthermore, not only did it withstand and not rip on rough rocky terrain but I kid you not I carried a good 40 pounds of lumber I gathered from the surrounding hills in and on it, including a giant log fit into the compression straps, with absolute ease and no tears.One small gripe is that the rainfly will only fit over the backpack if you have nothing in the side pockets and compression straps. Otherwise, the rainfly is useless. But the pack underwent some minor rain for a bit and nothing got wet inside it, so for minor rain the rainfly isn’t really necessary.I paid $80 and it’s worth every penny.

Used this backpack for several canoe trips over the past year without any complaints. Although it isn’t waterproof, I got around this problem by a combination of using the included rain covering and using dry bags for some items. Enough space for several day long trips, and was reasonably comfortable during the portages. Have not used it yet for longer hiking trips (e.g. backpacking)

I pack very heavy and I’ve never had an issue with stitching breaking or anything. Plenty of pockets, the only issue I have with them is that the cup pockets are very tight when the bag is full, and the net pocket on the front is only big enough for me to fit a small 8×8″ grill.I probably pack up to 70-80lbs, never been an issue for me. Comfortable, but could use some more air circulation for my back.This is also the exact same backpack that Steve Wallis from YouTube uses for his stealth camping adventures.

This is the second one of these I have bought. The first was delivered with a damaged hipbelt and returned. This one was also delivered with a damaged hipbelt.It seems like this one is a newer model. It claims to have solved the common complaint that the water bottle pockets are hard to access by making them angled. It has not. And they are not. All other changes are actually for the worse.The lid is now removable. But if you remove it there is nothing but a drawstring to keep your gear safe and secure. And, lid on or off, it leaves two very long straps hanging between your back and the pack. Speaking of the lid, it is now smaller with a shorter zip. That means a couple of items I like to keep in it for easy access no longer fit.The padding on the back, hipbelt and straps seems thinner and less durable. The buckles also feel less robust. And the water bottle pockets and the pocket on the front went from a standard mesh to what feels like womens stockings.The torso length adjustment feels wonky and is not straight or centered. And it didn’t come with the straps to secure something to the lid. But I don’t know if these last two are across the board or I just got a bad one.Teton backpacks are overhyped. A few youtubers sang their praises back when you could pick one up for under $70USD. At the time of wrting this review it is over £130. That’s over double the $70 those youtubers paid. What’s more, I just bought a 65 liter Osprey Rook for £130. Let that sink in. This piece of crap is the same price as an Osprey! And they let me pay for the Osprey in 5 monthly instalments of £26. And unless the Osprey is delivered literally burnt to ashes I will be returning the Teton and I will never buy another Teton Sports product as long as I live.
