Easy to install and works great
I was surprised at how easy this was to install. The hardest part was getting the coupling to close around the adapter on the wand — pro tip: adjustable wrench helps with this. The rest of the installation is as easy as the instructions make it look. I don’t think the particular window I’m using this on gets enough sunlight for the solar panel so I’m not using that for now, but I appreciate that they also include a long enough USB cord that I can plug it into the wall nearby with an adapter (not included). The app is easy to use too, although at first it was searching for bluetooth items to add and nothing was happening, but I went the manual install route, which is when I discovered the pairing button on the bottom of the unit. Once I pressed that, the app found the unit and I was able to calibrate it with the settings of my blinds, and then easily set a schedule to open and close on their own. The only downside I have found so far is that it does make enoughn noise that startles my dogs when it starts, but if the robot vacuum is any indication, they’ll get use to it. Happy with my purchase!

Check your tilt rod and match the shape to the gear-hole for the replacement wand-tilter. No need for an expensive “converter”. Don’t get low-profile version if you have 2″ blinds, they will rub when opening/closing. The switchbot works fine even if they rub a bit.The bot shifts around a bit when opening/closing, so get tilter gears and wands with metal ends so you can adjust the connection point if needed.If you don’t have a sunny window, the solar panel won’t for charging. Battery life seems adequate, and the charging port is easy access. For noise, they’re about as loud as the motor in automated door locks, so I don’t think they’re particularly loud.Lastly, YOU WILL NEED at least a HUB Mini if you want to integrate into home automation if you don’t have another way to manage bluetooth devices. I have a Hubitat hub with Alexa integration, so needed one. Again, wait till everything goes on sale, and you can get a 2-Blind solution for less than $150.

We now have five Switchbot Blind Tilts and they are great. We’ve had four for a couple of years and bought another earlier this year for a different room.We run them on timers through the Switchbot app and we have never had an issue with them not working when we need them to. Four are in the same room and have been combined into one rule so they act together.They are great for when you’re not going to be at home when it gets dark or for when you’re away on holiday. It’s very easy to change the time they operate when the days get longer or shorter.They also work well with Alexa if you need to open/close without the timer.As you can see from the photo, they’re discreet and not visible unless you pull the curtains back.We don’t use the solar panel by choice based on the rooms we have them in.We have a different brand for opening our curtains which are very temperamental, recently when on holiday one individual stayed shut for the two weeks we were away. If we had bought the blind tilts first, we’d have gotten Switchbot Curtain Openers instead as we trust them. We will be replacing our existing ones when we get a chance with the Switchbot ones as based on our experience they are reliable and value for money as they do exactly what we need them to do.The app for Switchbot is much easier to navigate from the other brand too, was very easy to add in the additional tilt when we bought it.
