Fountain is 5-stars, but filter is bad
The fountain itself works great and the cats like it, when NOT using the filter. Itâs offers them 3 ways to drink and is a pretty easy to clean setup. Much better than the Drinkwell Platinum we moved from. Itâs very quiet. If you hear a water noise, itâs because itâs low and needs to be filled. Also, easy to assemble and dissemble for cleaning. The pump is self contained and may present its own cleaning challenge over time, but will report back if so. Intend to run it in bleach water briefly to throughly clean it while doing the rest of the fountain.However, the filter adds a taste to the water they wonât drink, and the filter design doesnât even force water through it. Theyâre little bags that sit in a plastic shell (so the replacements including the shell instead of just the bags is hugely wasteful and pointless, as the shell can be opened â see pics from other reviews) that contain charcoal and resin (?). Water takes the easiest path and thatâs around those little bags⦠I figured itâs worth trying as enough water exposure may still benefit the water taste over time, but after a few days, the cats stopped drinking from the fountain. Theyâd go up to it like they wanted to drink from it, sit there for a bit like they were going to try to drink, and eventually leave. Eventually, I tasted the water and realized it had an odd taste.We use natural spring water from the store in the fountain, to eliminate any questionable tap/well water flavors, as we found with another cat that was able to detect water issues we could not taste.I thoroughly re-cleaned the fountain and pulled the filter. Added new spring water. And waited⦠and waited. It took them a good 2 days to start drinking from it again. Thatâs how put off they were by whatever the filters added to the water. Weâd put small bowls of still water out to get them to drink something, which helped, but it took pulling those and waiting for them to finally re-try the fountain. After they did, itâs been great. Just donât use the filters.To the sellers credit, Iâd purchased the version with the filter pack figuring Iâd be using them. I reached out and explained the situation and they refunded the filter pack. They stand behind the product, so while Iâd pull a star for the filter design and performance, Iâm adding one back for support.I ran the drinkwell (plastic) without filters for the longest time also, as they seemed to reduce the amount of time between cleanings, causing the âslimeâ to build up faster than without the filter. Being that this fountain is mainly stainless steel, I feel it should be an even better situation. Iâll be cleaning it for the first time after extended use soon and will report back if there are any issues.

Totally Soundless! I LOVE this thing!!!
We just purchased this fountain for our cat about a month ago, and what an amazing upgrade it is! Our old one was plastic, and made of many different parts that were all just areas for pink mold growth even with a consistent cleaning schedule. It also constantly turned on and off with a motion sensor all day and night, which was annoying. This stainless steel fountain is extremely well made and has less attachment pieces, making it easier to clean and much less prone to any mold growth. It’s also SO QUIET! I don’t even notice it running. This also makes it much less startling for our cat. The window on the front has a soft blue light to make it easy to check the water level. I highly recommend this product and would 100% purchase it again.

Perfect water bowl for cats.
I bought this product to help my cats have access to fresh water daily. I wasnât sure they would use it since I have had problems with other water bowls in the past. I have one cat who fears new things and is not willing to change his ways. Both of my cats love the water fountain. The package was delivered in 1-2 days. It was very easy to put together and fill with water. The fountain does not splash or make a mess. It is also very quiet. I like the window in the bowl so that I can see when it needs to be refilled. The sleek design is easy to clean and maintain. I would recommend this water fountain to anyone who has pets.

The fountain has been great, my cat uses it all of the time. I got it in March of 2024 and unfortunately itâs November 2024 and itâs leaking out of the little window.To be honest, I wasnât too happy about having an LED shining into the water my cat is drinking (led lighting is pretty bad for us, look into it), but I got it for convenience so that it was easier for the person watching her to make sure it was full.So I take responsibility for going against my better judgment, because otherwise it IS a great fountain. If you are intuitively feeling that this little window cut into the side of a water fountain isnât the best idea, then go for the option without it.For anyone who doesnât want to hear the noise of splashing, or even the motor, it is shockingly quiet. You canât hear a thing. Thatâs impressive. I personally donât mind the water noise, and I thought my cat wouldâve preferred it just bc of how she sits and stares at sounds like that for long amounts of time, as cats do, lol. Well she also stares at the silent snow falling, and seems totally entrained with the vibe, so this super quiet water fountain must be similar; maybe itâs not the sound but the movement aloneâ¦. Interesting.It holds a lot of water, which is good, I like that. Thatâs no excuse for not cleaning it! I try to do it once every other week. Get some of those straw cleaner type things, in varied sizes, youâll need it.After cleaning I run food grade peroxide through it, as that kills the bacteria. It comes apart completely and easily for cleaning, so there is no excuse. If you just add water all of the time without cleaning, the biofilms will accumulate FAST, and thatâs not cool. That super slimy residue on your pets bowl? Biofilm. Itâs on our things too, but if you donât regularly clean things then they build up and are almost impossible to removeâ¦. Causing all sorts of illness (and if thatâs not enough to persuade to properly clean your pets bowls, then think of it as future vet bills and heartache when your pet develops health issues) and itâs gross.As a side note: to make it more likely that Iâll clean my pets bowls, I designate a sponge just for that. I noticed thatâs why I wasnât doing it as much as I should⦠bc who wants to use the same sponge they use on dishes for pet stuff? Thereâs really no excuse. When I open a new sponge, I cut it in half, and use one half for pets, one for people stuff. You can use different colors, whatever, just do it. And for people who think their pet doesnât mind eating off of a disgustingly dirty bowl with dried rotten meat on itâ¦â¦ câmon. Really? Maybe our pets snub us for a reason, no they definitely do. :)Since Iâm lecturing⦠the best thing you can do for cat fountains, is put them up high! At least off the floor. Theyâll appreciate the change from the norm. It makes them feel better too bc it creates a situation where they have to stay active and jump to get it. Thatâs a bonus obviously. And for people with dogs, you wonât have to refill it a hundred times a day (they need bigger amounts of water) if the dogs canât reach it. Plus, they can just drink out of the toilet lol (KIDDING!). The best part is that if you put it up high, it will get less dusty inside. All of the particles from our people stuff that drop into their bowls in the floorâ¦. God only knows what makes them sick. Everything!Okay, now Iâm going to do what I came on here to do. Which is contact the company to see what they can do for our leaky fountain.If I have to replace it, Iâll probably get another from the same company bc it really is great overall.

There was nothing wrong with my last metal fountain, but omg the slurping noises it made were so annoying. So at my sister’s suggestion, I ordered this one. Wow! What a difference. I can’t hear it at all! So quiet. I love the blue light, and the fill window. My cats love the clean water always available. Cleaning and changing the filters is easy. I love this fountain.

Best water fountain I’ve tried so far. My cat has no problem using it and most importantly it’s ACTUALLY quiet. I’ve been at my wit’s end with every other water fountain and the incessant DRIPPING noises, particularly the flower-style ones that drip like crazy as soon as they’re under 3/4 full. This one does have a (significantly less noticeable) water-moving sound but I can actually tolerate it.I’ve had it for about a week now and I have to say I notice the sound a bit more now than I did when I first got it – not sure if it’s the fountain or just me, but I had the same experience with this brand’s flower/plastic model.I also like that it’s stainless steel – I get worried about bacteria in plastic ones, so this puts my mind at ease. It’s simple enough to put together and take apart to clean, with minimal plastic parts and no sharp corners for bacteria to cling to. It has a little LED light so you can see the water level but it’s not bright enough to interfere with my sleep.It did have some slight imperfections on the inside when I received it, but honestly nothing concerning.
