That’s Not A Hat is a pretty simple game to teach, and gets absurd as you play. That’s a good thing.All the cards start face up, and you’re turning them face down and handing them to each other. Before too long it’s all face down and your struggling to remember what and where everything is.At some point, somebody will pass you a card and either forget what it was or lie about it. “I have a nice hat for you.” Call them out! “That’s Not A Hat!”One memorable game had us passing 3 separate cards that were all “newspapers,” allegedly. Eventually one of us called one out, and it was the newspaper! Then we had to deal with not remembering what the other two cards were as we continued to pass them around.Simple game, with opportunities for deception if you want it, but you can be totally honest and still have tons of fun. The more players, the better!

Fun and quick, good filler
The way I immediately forget every object as soon as it’s turned over has me questioning my object permeance. Am I actually a baby?Every time I introduce it to a new person, they’re confused until they actually play a round. I was too when I first read the instructions. Almost docked a star for that, but honestly it’s worth the short confusion.People “get it” after a few turns, and once they do it’s very fun. We all feel like we hate it but simultaneously keep wanting to play haha.I have a couple hundred board/card games and usually buy one or two new ones per month, and I actually play them with people only slightly more often than that. This is the first new game in a long time that I’ve bought and then wanted to play for multiple games nights in a row.I was mostly playing in a group ages 8-26. No one seemed at much of a disadvantage because of age. I also played with a 65-year-old who didn’t care for it much, but didn’t hate it either.One thing to know is that there’s usually not really a “winner”, since the game ends when one person has 3 penalties and other players might have the same number as each other and therefore tie. So it’s more of a one-loser game instead of a one-winner game.I also appreciate when a game box is the right size for the game inside, instead of having a bunch of empty space or being almost too crammed to close. This one is perfect in that regard, and the pink also pops on the shelf 🙂

It would be difficult to not have fun with this!
Fantastic party game! When we first brought this game out and explained it we had family members instantly say, “I don’t have a good memory, I’m going to lose, why bother” but reluctantly played. We weren’t even all the way around the table on our first round run through and they were having a blast. It’s impossible not to laugh. Even those with the best memory are going to get tripped up and that’s where all the fun is! Playing a couple games back to back is great because you’ll find yourself trying to remember cards that aren’t even in the current game and were instead in a game or two ago and when you try to pass someone that card and lie they can see it face up in the box in the corner it’s pretty funny. Highly recommend and the amount of fun, laughs and memories you get for a $10 game can’t be beat! So far we’ve played this with age range of 9-77 and in groups ranging from 3 people to 6 people. All ages and group sizes have been great. This would make a great gift. Highly recommend.

Fun game!
This is such a fun game! I absolutely love playing it with adults and children. The cards are good quality and the box is small so it is very easy to bring on trips.

É um daqueles jogos pequenos em tamanho, gigantes em diversão. O conceito do jogo é muito simples, a ponto de parecer que não é divertido, mas aí você joga e vê como é incrível. É um jogo de festa/reunião, super simples de explicar e aprender, com partidas rápidas (coisa de 15/20 minutinhos por partida), e além disso, a caixa é pequena, fácil de sempre levar na mochila, no carro, na bolsa, etc. quando vai encontrar amigos ou em uma festa.As instruções são em português de Portugal, não do Brasil, mas não é um problema, afinal é muito similar ao nosso português e são poucas regras/informações, mas vamos ser sinceros, não custava estar em português brasileiro. Um ponto negativo é que se você colocar sleeves nas cartas (para proteção), elas não cabem na caixa do jogo, 99% dos jogos de tabuleiro e cartas levam sleeves em consideração, construindo a caixa do jogo sempre um pouco mais larga ou alta para caber cartas sleevadas, mas isso não foi pensado.Além disso, aproveitando a tangente, o fato do nome do jogo ser totalmente em inglês, no Brasil, afasta muitas pessoas, é um grande problema dos jogos de tabuleiro e cartas no Brasil, é por isso que muitas pessoas ainda compram apenas jogos como “Banco Imobiliário”, pois apesar de estarmos na era de ouro dos jogos e termos muitos jogos sendo trazidos ao Brasil com as regras em português, a grande maioria não tem o nome do jogo traduzido, aí uma enorme parte de possíveis compradores evitam ou nem ficam sabendo do jogo. Por exemplo, um jogo já consolidado há anos como “Telestrations” foi nomeado em Portugal como “Passa Desenho”, excelente… mas no Brasil, chama-se… “Telestrations”. O mesmo acontece com esse “That’s not a hat”, custava nomear em português? Para mim e para outros que falam inglês não vai fazer diferença, mas para a grande maioria dos brasileiros, é a diferença entre só jogarem “banco imobiliário” e od1arem jogos de tabuleiro e cartas ou conhecerem jogos modernos e maravilhosos.

Somit ist das Spiel auch jedes Mal etwas anders!
