Super nifty and high quality
The pocket chainsaw comes in an easy to carry and high quality bag that it can be stored in, which is super helpful so it isn’t just sitting around in my backpack, especially after its been used as is covered in bits of tree and branch.
The paracord handle is likely the most comfortable to use because of the back and forth pulling, so I’d recommend it over another the other options unless you have gloves.
The blade itself is definitely sturdy and strong, but because it is only one-sided there were a couple times when it would get caught, especially towards the ends of branches when the blade would start to reach itself. Even still, it was sharp and easy enough to use that it would cut to a part where the branch or tree could easily be snapped or bent.
It’s not a necessity, but it is lightweight and fun to bring on a camping trip, and does its job super well! I even think about buying a second one, or maybe gifting one to my friend!

What’s There Not To Like?
It’s light weight, compact, efficient, with a great price point that delivers the capabilities of a chainsaw without the weight, clunky size, noise, and risk inherent in a gas powered chainsaw. Obviously, a gas powered chainsaw is appropriate for many situations, most notably those requiring speed. But for me, a mountain biking enthusiast, the Pocket Chainsaw gives me the power to immediately remove fallen trees off my favorite trails. No longer must I wait months or even years for someone to clear fallen trees off trails. I can do it myself on the same day I encounter the tree. That is tremendously empowering, especially in an area with frequent tree fall where I do most of my mountain biking. I’ve also used the pocket chainsaw to comfortably lift and move logs out of the way. Just place the smooth side of the chainsaw under the log and lift by the hand straps. I’ve also used it to create levers (out of smaller dead trees) to lift and move heavy tree sections cut apart by my pocket chainsaw. From my point of view, I’m the primary beneficiary of the pocket chainsaw. But other mountain bikers as well as hikers equally benefit from my immediate removal of these trees that block the trails.

It worked surprisingly well
I bought this to trim limbs and small logs off of backcountry hiking trails. Iâve used it once, and it worked great. While building trail, we ran into a 9â root from a recently cut down tree that was in the way of the new trail. After exposing the root and cleaning the dirt off we slipped the saw underneath and had the 9â root cut in less than a minute.
The saw is light weight and has a nice pouch that could hook on a belt, or just keep the chain protected in a pack. It didnât cost much, and was delivered fast!

Works fine, could have came sharper but as it came was leaps and bounds better than a folding saw. Handles are uncomfortable at best but grab a couple sticks and put them through the loops for a good T shape grip

AMAZING! This is beyond great and changes the game at home & when camping
I have one of those long poles for cutting high limbs but this goes higher! Tie a thin nylon string to a bag with 3 water bottles in it. Swing the bag high over the dead limb letting the bag fall to the ground. Then tie a rope to the string and this manual chainsaw to the rope with yet another rope to the other end of the manual chainsaw. Pull the string up over the limb that pulls the rope that pulls the chainsaw such that you now have the chainsaw over the dead limb with a long rope on each end. Now stepping to the side from under the limb, pull the ropes back & forth for 3-4 minutes until the limb falls.
Important – No matter how you are using this you need to OIL the chain prior to use or it will get caught and be too hard to use!
The limb is cut so fast i wonder bow why my gas chainsaw is slow! And I’m 67 years old!

Perfect for hikers and campers
I bought this for a recent hiking trip where I knew I needed something that could pair with a hatchet for cutting just enough firewood for a day or two.
This can cut through 4 inch diameter branches in about 10 minutes and won’t leave you sweating like a hatchet would. (But, to be clear, you’re still sweating)
This comes in a pouch you can put on your hip. The chain easily fits back in the pouch, even with gloves in. It’ll weigh very little. My Leatherman probably weighed the same.
Biggest problem I had was pulling both sides of the chain at the same angle and force so that my cuts met in the middle. But that’s not a problem with the chain, but the user.

I couldn’t make this work
I am terrified of chainsaws, so this product appeared like a perfect solution for someone like me. With a little more work, I could accomplish the same goal of cutting down the small trees in my yard (4-6 inch diameter). However, I could not make this product work. I was able to get it started alright, and it effectively cut while it was going. However, without fail, it always managed to get stuck. Always. I eventually had to just abandon the cut and feed the blade back out of the slit. So, needless to say, I am pretty disappointed. I wish this would have worked.
Update: I saw some videos where folks used wedges to keep the tree from pinching the blade and keeping it from sawing back and forth. So, I bet that’s the solution to this problem. You need to wedge the slit as you go deeper to keep it propped up. I will add a star to my original review, because I think this issue has a fix.
