Worked Perfectly
Park Tool makes high quality products, and this was no different. Worked absolutely perfectly to both remove and install a master link on Shimano bike chains.

Makes installing and removing missing links painless and quick
If you’ve ever tried to connect a SRAM Powerlink or a KMC Missing Link, you know that sometimes it’s a piece of cake, but most of the time it’s not so graceful. I’ve worked with chains enough to merit trying the Parktool MLP 1.2 pliers out, and it was worth it. The pliers feel quality, with a nice rubberized coating on the handles. To remove (disconnect) a link, you simply stick the tips of the pliers on the outside of the chain rollers where your link is, and squeeze. With little effort, the chain link is disengaged and easily removed. No more fidgeting with a screwdriver, or two pairs of needle nosed pliers – the MLP 1.2 does the job swiftly. To install (connect) a link, it’s basically the same – stick the tips in between the chain rollers where the link is, and pull the tool open – no slamming the pedal down, no tugging at opposite chain ends – once again, the MLP 1.2 does the job in mere seconds. The specially shaped plier ends is the secret – they are perfectly shaped to grab a chain roller. If I had to nitpick the product, I guess the only tiny complaint (not enough to remove a star) is that you have to use two hands to pull apart the plier arms when installing a link, but that really doesn’t bother me. If I really needed one hand-operated tools, KMC sells separate “opening” and “closing” chain link pliers, but those two tools will cost an extra $6 compared to the equally capable MLP 1.2, without needing twice the rook in my tool box. Finally, the $15 price is fine for a high quality and ultra useful tool.

As good as it gets
Used many, many times since buying. Very effective on Shimano 8000 chains, and serviced several others with the same results. Universal, it makes easy work of correctly removing and installing master links without damaging or deforming.Another high quality Park Tool, must-have for cleaning, waxing and tuning chain length.

The Right Tool For The Right Job
I have a KMC chain with a KMC “Missing Link”. I’ve switched over to waxing my chain with paraffin and PTFE powder (totally clean and awesome) so I need to be able to take my chain on and off regularly. I’ve been told that Connex Master Links are the best because they are able to lock and unlock with no tools. But I’ve also been warned by numerous bike repair techs to not mix one brand of chain with another brand of Master Links, that it can lead to failure and accidents. Don’t know if this is true or not, but I don’t want to find out. I have noticed that the Connex Master links are longer than the KMC “Missing Link” and links on the chain. I don’t know if this matters, but my instinct says not to mess with it.So, hence the need for this Park tool. You can lock and unlock the KMC Missing link with your hands, but it absolutely a pain in the ass. KMC makes two different tools, one for unlocking and one for locking. This is a bit crazy when you can , instead, buy this Park tool for less money than the two KMC tools, and…….IT WORKS PERFECTLY for both locking and unlocking the master link.So if you have any brand of chain with a Master Link, other than Connex (where you don’t need any tool) this is the tool to have. It’s well designed, sturdy, and as I said, works easily and perfectly. Don’t hesitate to buy it.

Great tool for chain waxing
Like this to unlink and link chaine links for cleaning and waxing. Much easier than folding links. We’ll worth it to add this to your tool collection.

Very simple but O.K
Wish there was a screw to hold the two parts but instead there is some sort of metal press the doesn’t look so durable .That is why I took one star. The fact that it is simple is pros not consThe plier metal itself looks o.k – It is a parktool – That is your insurance and I have read that such item from other companies tend to bend.

It does the job
This item is like salt….you will always need it even if do not recognize it at first glance. Of all the chains I have replaced, this issue is when you cannot find this very tool. I therefore had to order a second one and keep it in my toolbox where I can have immediate access. It does the job and of course I will purchase same again!

I previously bought a cheaper brand of this on Amazon, and itâs worked but bent and was flimsy. Finally bought the this one and itâs so much better quality. It will last for many years.
