This is a review of the simorr Vibe P96L, with an ASIN of B09G98NRQZ.UPDATE(2022/10/04): My previous burn time value was incorrect – I think I must have accidentally changed the brightness while testing it, as Iâve now found it to be less. Iâm correcting the battery section below, accordingly. I am very sorry for the mistake. END OF UPDATEIâve been working on reviewing a similar product, and realized I kept comparing it to this, so I thought I should probably come back here and write this up to reference. Also, itâs worth noting that simorr is a sub-brand of SmallRig, and, for a bias alert, I have a bit of a corporate crush on SmallRig, but this is one of the products thatâs produced that effect.In summary, if you understand the limitations of these, youâll probably love them. I got one, used it for about a week, and promptly ordered a second one.To the best I can determine, there are a total of two negatives, but both seem due to tradeoffs on keeping these as small as they are, while doing their key functions as well as they do.* Battery – burn time is around 52 minutes at full brightness and 4700K (my usual test color temperature).* Diffuser – If your subject is within a few inches of the light, you might want a supplemental diffuser. The built in one is very decidedly biased toward output over spread.As for the positives, itâs quite the list:* Size – the listing includes the measurements (108mm x 60mm x 11mm), but, to put that in better perspective, these are smaller than any smartphone since about 2011. You will almost always be able to find a spot for one or more of these in your bag or pockets.* Build – their housing is an aluminum casting thatâs then been (beautifully) precision milled in the right places. Iâve been far less kind to them than Iâve intended, and theyâve proven to be quite rugged so far.* Controls – all of the controls are quick to find with your fingers and easy to tell apart by touch. Given that simorr hasnât buried anything important in a menu system or such, you can operate these lights rather easily without having to focus on them, if needed. Further, each control is well suited to its task. A button cycles modes. A physical slider switch (with a nice click to it) is the on-off (and settings are retained). A simple wheel adjusts the brightness. Finally, a multi-function rocker/button hybrid cycles between extra variables in each mode, if relevant, and then lets you adjust them ⦠including hold-to-accelerate functionality. Itâs all shockingly intuitive.* Firmware – itâs not only super-snappy at responding to the controls, but, *very* importantly, the system also provides battery estimates, both in terms of burn time and charge time, which err slightly on the conservative side – i.e. short for burn and long for charge, while still being close. Iâve found this to be very useful so far. Oh, it also appears to do tricks in terms of battery health maintenance, but donât take my guess regarding that as gospel.* Display – if the light is on, so is the display (this is important, Iâve found) and you can easily read it in virtually any lighting condition. This is possibly one of the best uses of an OLED screen in an embedded context that Iâve ever seen. Also, especially with the ease of distinguishing the controls without looking, this makes it dead simple to operate in the dark.* Brightness – regrettably, I donât have a good way to measure it, but these are the brightest lights of their general size class that Iâve gotten to play with so far, and thatâs including things thatâre significantly more bulky. Iâve been very positively impressed.* Price – despite all the good things Iâve listed here, these are within a small percentage of many products that donât have even half the positives. Iâm far from having comprehensively explored the product space, but, so far, these seem like the clear winner on bang for buck.Obviously, Iâm calling these a solid 5-star product. Iâd be really surprised if thereâs anything similar thatâs significantly better at an all nearby price.P.S. Iâve omitted coverage of the video effects modes – I feel I donât know that subject well enough to comment, but I also think thatâs something which is quite unlikely to be as important to most users as the points I did cover.

Wow a great light!
Very impressed with this light. Easy to use and adjust the brightness and color temperature. Have not had a issue with battery life and will run over an hour at 50â and is way to bright at 50% for most of what I use it for. The USB plug on the bottom is kinda a bummer and prone to getting dirt in it when used outside.

These portable mini lights are really great value. I like that there is a display on the back that shows you the temperature and power of the light. Its really handy, especially if you multiple of these and need to match the temps exactly.Handy tip, if you hit the mode button twice, youll go from RGB to FLASH to Kelvin. Using Kelvin is much more reliable imo.Purchase multiple of these and you have a handy portable light setup that you can take where ever.Note that the picture shows the light at 1% power.

The little battery icon stays empty, despite charging, and the estimated remaining power levels are insanely high (like 30h ⦠this thing typically lasts a couple hours at most).So it looks like the battery has gone bust. I generally took good care of the lights. 18 months is okay, I suppose.Reduced to three stars from five.âââââPrevious reviewThe lights are bright, the colors are great, and the form factor is excellent â nice and compact yet quite usable.The tripods suck, though. The issue is that the heads donât stay locked. You can tighten it all the way and the head may feel locked but it will randomly just loosen up and flop over under the weight of the light. It can be incredibly frustrating when youâre trying to put together a lighting setup like for a product.To avoid the frustration with the tripods, I recommend just getting the bare lights and investing in better supports. Youâll pay a bit more but youâll avoid lots of frustration, which is worth far more than the few dollars you would save.

Pese a ser pequeña me ha sorprendido, la iluminación aún en el 1% es alta, respecto a su construcción, los materiales se seinte de buena calidad, tal vez el tripie que incluye y el cable de carga tipo c si se sienten algo baratos, pero considerando el precio se justifica (en algún apartado debÃan ahorrar)Se ajusta bien a mi cámara canon R50 por lo que cumple su cometido a la perfección, además de ser fácil de usar, sin la necesidad de leerte el instructivo, en términos generales me agrado y me sorprendió para bien ð asà que la recomiendo como luz de relleno!

A versatile light bar that can do anything.I use this video light mostly for when i want to solder or need a spot light for fixing things. Sometimes i use it at night for when i do a little BBQ i can set the ambience of the light to a warm setting (3300k). The Construction of the camera is built very good as its encased in metal. The small information screen is very easy to read and adjusting the settings with the buttons are very simple.Pairing the light with a Joby Gorillapod makes this my go to light for anything.The Battery lifeI wish the battery life could be more than 1500mah as it is just doesnt last long enough at settings (6000k-8000k) @ above 45% about an 1hr of light. So i recommend keeping a small portable Batterybank keeping the light charged when using it at high settings.

Einfarbig. Nicht dimmbar. Schnell leer.Nicht so diese! Ich habe mir zunächst eine bestellt, damit ich sie – erwartungsgemäà – schnell zurücksenden kann. Doch weit gefehlt!Die Dinger sind – bei der GröÃe eine iPhone 1 – nicht nur ausreichend hell, sondern dimmbar (0-100 %), in der Lichtfarbe und -wärme stufenlos zu ändern und in der Intensität (Sättigung) anzupassen. So lassen sich nahezu alle Beleuchtungszenarien völlig zufriedenstellend abbilden. Und das erstaunlich gut für so kleine Dinger. Es wird taghell im Zimmer!Der echte Clou kommt aber noch: Es gibt auch die Adventure/Colors/Party/Club/Flash/Police/Fire Modi A – G, zu erreichen über das obere seitliche Drehrad, das man auch drücken kann.Damit öffnet man die Lichteffektebox der Pandora: Von Feuerwehrtrucklicht, chilligem Clublicht bis hin zum flackernden Lagerfeuer gibt es sieben Modi in nochmals vier Abstufungen, also 28 Lichtszenarien.Das vermutet man nun wirklich nicht! Macht aber enorm SpaÃ!Unten hat es eine normale, kleine Stativaufnahme (Verschraubung) und wird binnen zwei Stunden über USB-C geladen. Alle Anzeigen gibt es auf einem Minidisplay auf der Rückseite. Die Bedienung ist recht intuitiv. Das Gehäuse ist aus Leichtmetall, sehr robust und stoÃfest.Ich habe mir also schnell noch eine weitere bestellt und habe so ein wirklich gut brauchbares mobiles kleines Fotostudio für unterwegs, z.B. als schnell zu positionierendes Fülllicht für Outdoorshootings. Die gleiche Lichtstimmung ist ja problemlos anpass- und einstellbar, so dass kein unerwünschtes Mischlicht entsteht.Oder als Zusatzlicht für meine Action Cam. Sicherlich sind sie aber nicht wasserdicht, bestenfalls spritzwassergeschützt.Hinten drauf habe ich noch Magnetfolie geklebt, so dass ich sie zumindest an metallischen Oberflächen anbringen kann. Mit einem doppelseitigen Minisaugnapf kriegt man sie problemlos. auch auf glatten Oberflächen angepappt.Eines der besten Dinge die ich je auf Amazon gekauft habe!
