Perfect for Travel – 33L Version
I took this backpack on safari in Africa. My primary backpack is large and bulky so I got this lightweight pack to carry the things I would need daily – full size camera, binoculars, bird book, and neccessities like sunscreen and water. My sister had purchased the 20L previously and recommended the 33L. It was perfect. Strong and comfy to carry. The zippers saw a lot of action over 22 days of accessing everything I needed each day. It held up to the road dust too. The water bottle holding straps meant I wasn’t struggling to keep different size bottles from trying to escape. The carrying pouch, when turned inside out, becomes an internal zipper pocket for keeping money and small items. I’m off to Europe next and this backpack will be my go-to every day.

    Great Pack for the money!
I have owned many backpacks, each purchased with a specific purpose in mind. I am 5′ 7″ and weigh 200 lbs. I bought the Outlander Travel Backpack (large) to take with me when traveling to use when exploring cities and local environments. Since my purchase I have used for my six – eight mile daily walking. I have loaded it with my one liter Platypus water bottle, light jacket, Kindle Fire, Blu Life One XL Cell Phone, pen & spiral notebook, binoculars, and more.I haven’t weighed the pack loaded down but I can say the shoulder straps are wide enough to make the pack comfortable even loaded as I’ve described. The 3 different sized compartments are perfectly sized for different things, the largest for the water bottle and jacket, the middle for my7″ Kindle Fire, Spiral Notebook & Pen, and the smallest for my cell phone and epipen. I haven’t yet used the pouch but think it will be perfect for my Nikon s9600 travel camera. The stitching, pack material and zippers all are more than I expected from such a low cost pack. I am used to buying from REI and currently have 3 other packs purchased from them. The Outlander is of equal quality in stitching and functionality. The pack is easy to stuff into the built in pouch and when zipped up the pouch is very small about 5″ wide 3.5 inches high and about 1.75 inches deep. This translates to an easy, lightweight fit in my larger REI Flash 45 pack I will be using in August when I take on the Camino Portuguese. The pack doesn’t have any internal frame which means that knowing how to pack your items carefully is important. I’ve seen other frameless packs that cost upwards of $100.00 that are of the same general size that aren’t any better that the Outlander. If loaded improperly the pack will hug your back making back sweat a reality, loaded properly there is a gap between the pack and your back that allows for some ventilation minimizing sweaty back syndrome. I don’t think I would put more than 10lbs or so in the pack.In conclusion, this is a great pack for travelers who need something small, lightweight, to use when arriving at a destination for exploring, or for someone needing a lightweight carry-on when traveling, or if you are like me just a great little pack for light weight day trips.

    Light weight and super portable
I had this pack for a few years and loved that it was so lightweight and folds up pretty small compared with other packable packs. It doesn’t have any padding and some of the seams start to fray pretty quickly but it served me well for a few years on short hikes when I wanted to bring something light to carry water or snacks. I got a second one after my first one broke.

Sweet little 22L nylon NEW OUTLANDER backpack in Purple
I bought several nylon backpacks on Amazon prior to my trip last month, to determine which size or brand that I would like. A few will be returned. The 22L Outlander backpack in purple felt the best and I now use it most days as my purse. I am 5’4″ and a bit short-waisted, so standard backpacks are all too long on me. This one is quite comfortable and a good length. The side pockets easily hold my either or both a 12oz or 16oz stainless steel water bottle, or my sunglasses. This pack nicely survived a two-week trip to Europe last month as my purse and daypack, as we traveled by bus and train. It seems quite well-made with perfectly functioning zippers and no fraying on seams. It carried all of my usual “purse” items as well as an extra shirt, socks, snacks, pill organizer, with room to add a few souvenirs. Even though I weighed it down pretty well the straps were still comfortable on my shoulders. The other brand of similar backpacks were not as comfortable on me, and one had annoyingly loud material (I think that was the MCIRCO 20L). The Outlander (22L purple) and Hexin (33L purple) seemed to both be made by the same company since they fit similarly and had the same style and print on the fabric. So, I am keeping them both! When I had more things to carry, I would put the smaller pack inside the larger one. I used the larger one as my carry-on for my flights, and the smaller one as my purse. Both sizes fold back neatly into a little pouch, but frankly, I can’t see me ever putting them away. They are so lightweight that they take up practically no space. I did fold the big one a few times and carried it inside the smaller one (so that I would have an extra shopping bag with me), but after a few times I just rolled the extra pack and placed it at the bottom of the pack in use.I also bought an Outlander (33L) in Black for my husband to carry, but he didn’t mind the dark purple color. He may have objected if I had wanted him to carry a pink or red one, but the purple is pretty subtle. Both of the larger packs came in handy for sorting our clothes during the trip. One day we even loaded both 33L backpacks with stuff we should not have brought with us (can you say “overpacked”?) and walked to the Amsterdam Post Office to mail home a box of our “stuff” (yeah, we’ll just call it stuff, to be nice here). These packs are SO SO handy. I got the impression, at the PO, that mailing home dirty clothes was not uncommon. Doh.Yes this nylon pack is a bit flimsy, but it’s so strong and holds so much! For the price, I totally recommend the Outlander (or the Hexin). Buy one in each size. Keep both, or give one away to a friend! Can’t go wrong with this product.Disclaimer: I was not given anything free to try. I paid for this product. I like this product and recommend it. (No one ever sends me anything for free. Boo hoo)

    Lightweight, versatile, long lasting
I’ve owned this product for more than 7 years. It’s been taken on day trips and trips around the world. It’s light weight, yet holds a good deal, and seems to last forever. Each family member has one in a different color. The pocket it folds up in makes for a great hidden inside pocket. If a thief was to ever try to slice open the open, wallet and passport are still secure in the top pocket the backpack folds into. The two side pouches are great for hold water bottles, small snacks, or dog poop bags when out for a longer excursion.

I liked this pack so much, this is the second one I have purchased. The first one was years ago and I put it through heck. It folds up into a very small pouch that can be clipped onto a belt or bag. I take it with me when I use carry on luggage only and add this when I have more to bring back than what I started with. It is super light. It has pockets in exactly the places where I need them to be.I put my purse and computer in this pack, along with other work related things and then that is my one personal item and I still have my actual carry on. This pack fits under the seat on the plane. The other thing I do with this bag is wash it when I get home (because it has usually been sitting on the floor of a plane, or bus, or train.. or other less than pristine places.) This pack washes really well and dries quickly.I am happy to be able to get a blue one this time!

I love the backpack for my purposes. It is lightweight, and folds into a tiny pocket. It appeared that one of the nylon zippers had separated, but I was able to get it back together. As it is an outside pocket, I am not concerned about it, and I think it will stay together. I love the backpack, and can’t wait to travel.
