Comfortable and the Perfect Size
I needed a hiking backpack and so far, I am very pleased with this one. It is 35 liters, which I think is perfect, not too large and not too small. It is fits well on a woman’s frame, and there is ample padding to make it very comfortable to wear. I specifically looked for a backpack that came with both a chest strap and a waist strap for good weight distribution. This one does have both, and they are adjustable and comfortable. The shoulder straps are secure and comfortable. As for the layout, there are lots of external zippered pockets for storing various size items. The main section has both dividers and internal pockets. There are mesh water bottle pockets on each side of the backpack which adjust to hold different size bottles, but the placement of the pockets makes it impossible to reach without taking the backpack off. This is the only negative I have with this backpack. There are various loops so that you can attach items to the outside of the backpack. I am using them for my identification card in case of emergencies, my trekking pole, and for attaching my water bottle, rather than using the mesh pockets. The backpack material is sturdy, lightweight, and waterproof. Given how inexpensive this backpack is, it is really hard to beat it. I have already gotten compliments on it from other hikers.

My favorite backpack so far but it needs a bit of tweaking
So far this is my favorite backpack that I would pick over my $200+ backpacks. There are two specific things that I was looking for in a hiking backpack that this one meets. First, I needed a side pouch to be able to securely store my 1L water bottle. My $200+ backpack didnât have a side pouch that large so it was annoying to have to fit the water bottle in the main compartment of my bag. Not only that the OutdoorMaster backpack has a large side pouch, it is also deep, making it very secure to store the water bottle. Often times I have a backpack with a large side pouch, itâs not deep enough and the water bottle keep sliding out of the pouch. This is very annoying when I place the backpack in the overhead bin on a plane. I often have to go fish for the water bottle somewhere in the overhead bin because it slid off the pouch during the flight. With the OutdoorMaster backpack, I donât have to worry about that anymore. I can also use the bottom outside strap to further secure the bottle to the bag.The second feature I was looking for in a perfect backpack is the waist strap. Often times you would only find waist straps on a 60L or larger backpack. Iâm very excited to see this feature on the 35L OutdoorMaster backpack. I often bring camera gear on my hike and having the waist straps is really helping to make the trek so much less arduous. There are a few shortcomings of this bag that prevented me from giving this backpack a full 5-star rating. First, the straps where the waist buckles are attached to tend to come off of the locking buckle. I plan on adding a strap loop to keep the ends from flying loose so that will help to prevent the buckle strap from coming off. So you may want to keep an eye out on these straps and you may need to find a way to help keeping them from coming off. The second shortcoming is that the bag doesnât come with a rain cover. Being that this is suppose to be an outdoor hiking backpack, the manufacturer should have included a rain cover. The bag itself is definitely not waterproof, and I doubt that it would be water resistant given the fact that the outside nylon fabric has not water treatment layer like what you would find in a more expensive hiking backpack. A rain cover is not that expensive to add to the backpack and I would highly implore the manufacturer to include it.Other than that there are a few straps that I plan on adding to make this backpack fit my needs. Given the price point, I find this bag to be much more useful and accessible than my $200+ backpack. So if youâre looking for a good hiking backpack, I would highly recommend this one.

Comfortable and lots of storage
This is a great backpack for hiking. I love the thick, soft pads on the back for comfort, and there and straps on the front for extra support for long hikes. Thereâs also lots of different pockets throughout the backpack that allow for storing many different things.

Really comfortable
There is a lot to like about this backpack and just a couple things that I wish were different.First off the good:For having a minimal waist strap it is exceptionally comfortable and really keeps the weight on your waist instead of your shoulders. I would say that for a bag this size it is among the best for staying comfortable with a full load (20lbs).The outside material is very tough, looks good and generally sheds water. I do not believe it will be waterproof but it can handle a light sprinkle. If you need more than that you can easily buy a 3rd party rain cover. The two side water bottle pouches are super deep which means that I can’t grab my bottle without taking off the bag but it also means the bottle is never going to fall out.Inside, the compartments are just how you think they should be with one large section and then a smaller one with pockets for pens, phones, etc. There is also a super useful soft pocket on the top for glasses and such which I use all the time to keep important things within easy access. Here is what I wish was different:The two outside straps that go around the bag have to be disconnected and fished through the loops in order to open the bag. This is a huge pain in the butt and I kept them disconnected the whole time. I wish that the straps had a hook on each side so you could remove them and stash them in the bag for when you need to strap something on the outside. I’m probably going to just cut them off because they are always in the way.The little pockets on the waist strap are so tight that I can barely fit a key in one and a credit card and some cash in the other. I have another OM bag that has extra space in these pockets to easily fit keys and maybe a granola bar or a pocket knife. I wish they would have done the same on this bag because as they are now, the pockets cant hardly hold anything without digging into your waist. With these 2 changes I would definitely say this is a five star bag and as good as any of the other popular brands. Even as it is, the pack is still really nice and a hard to beat value.
