Ease of use
I got this set sometime back but finally had an occasion to use it today. First off both blades are razor sharp and cut like a dream. The gutting blade worked perfectly. Lifting slightly on the understand of the skin it zipped through the deer with little to no effort at all. Then with the straight blade I made all my other field dressing cuts. Then I used it to help skin the deer and lastly to help butcher it. Never could tell any difference in how it cut no matter if it was soft tissue, tendon or to dislocated joints. It never let me down. Where in the past I would have to change out knifes due to one getting dull.So if you have any concerns or hesitation about buying this set or from Outdoor Edge don’t let it worry you. For the money you pay this set is well worth it.

I purchased this set for the skinning knife. I have used it one time on a deer and I will never skin another one without it. It’s sharp as a razor and glides right through the skin without cutting anything underneath. It is the perfect tool for the job. The knife is also very sharp and the value can’t be beat. I highly recommend this set for any hunter.

I have killed and cleaned hundreds of white tail bucks. I donât count but my wife says over 500. Iâm 72 years old and have hunted most of my life. I have a Wyoming knife which works well until you get to the neck. This zip blade worked great for splitting the hide all the way down and the drop point knife worked better and easier than any of my other knives including my Buck skinner. I did have to sharpen them as they were sharp but not my caliber of sharp.

This knife set is a must for the deer hunter. The gut “hook” is different from most in that it is not pulled, riding on top of the hide but it is pushed and cuts from under the hide. It does not bind as the conventional gut hooks do. This “hook:” also cuts down the legs making the job easier. The orange grips make it easy to see if dropped in the leaves.

Great price on a real nice set
I have the swingblade from outdoor edge, which I love, but donât like having to push the button to change from gut hook to blade & vice versa when Iâm dressing an animal. Also cleaning it afterwards takes time, with all the nook and crannies. This set appears to be well made, easy to clean, and easy to find when you set it down due to the orange handles. I think I will be very happy with this set for many years. I just received it so havenât had a chance to use it yet.Update: Gutted 3 deer with them last year, very happy with this set!Update: We bought a set for each of the two older grandkids, just had a chance to use theirs and the blade on the gutting knife is junk! It wasnât sharp so I bought a diamond rod to sharpen them & the metal is so soft it wonât take an edge. I would have returned them but they were a Christmas gift and way past the return window. Iâm guessing it was a bad batch because mine is just fine. If you do buy this set beware of possible quality issues, if you get good ones they are really good. But if you get bad ones you might as well throw them away.
