    Amazing hiking pack
I bought this backpack after having used a high sierra hiking backpack from Costco for years. It wasn’t until I went into REI to get properly measured that I’d realized I was using an improperly fitted backpack and found this. The Osprey tempest is a women’s cut hiking backpack. I never realized how well a properly fitted pack would be until I got this. For reference I am 5’2″ with a torso length of 14 inches so I bought the XS size. The backpack is very comfy and lightweight. It’s easy to adjust the straps to fit snugly against my body. I will say I have always loved Osprey. They make really high quality backpacks and are backed by warranty in case there’s issues. To be fair though, my other Osprey I’ve had for YEARS and never felt the need to contact them for problems. The backpack does have a waist strap with pockets which kind of fit my Samsung S21 but honestly it barely fits in there. It’s more of a struggle tj try to tuck it in there but it’s doable. The bladder pocket as many others have noted is tight, but it’s not necessarily unusable. I was able to fit a 2L Hydrapak bladder in with some effort. I think you’re best bet would be to put the bladder in first before you start packing your bag. There’s a nice helmet lock on the outside of the pack which frankly I don’t use much except to attach my hat if I bring one hiking. All in all I would say this backpack is fantastic if you want a light, small backpack for a day hike. It’s not meant for backpacking as the XS is only 18L but it will definitely fit all your essentials.

    Best day pack EVER
This pack is perfect for taking to the mountains while hiking. It holds everything I need. I love the quality of all the outer mesh pockets. Big pockets on the waist band and the whole thing is adjustable so the weight is on my hips instead of pulling on my neck and shoulders. The padded waist and shoulder straps are so comfortable plus the air behind the lumbar area is great… less back sweat. It took a bit to find where the water bladder went. It has one bladder hanger in the center but would be nice to add two more to the left and right to hang different bladders. I already had an Osprey backpacking pack so I knew this was high quality and definitely worth the money.

Great product great price, good women’s fit
Hard to find packs for petite women’s sizes that don’t hurt the back. Great fit, great quality and holds more than it appears! Comfortable and vented back keeps cool on hot summer hikes or biking.

    Great pack
This is my eight Osprey pack purchase. No complaints with any of them. They are solid packs and they stand behind them.

    Great multi-purpose pack
This pack is a great size to double as an every-day pack or a day-hiker. I carry my camera equipment in it and still have room for essentials like snacks, jackets, etc. The zippers feel super smooth and there are adjustment straps in all the right places (also super smooth to operate) to ensure all-day comfort. I carry my larger size Hydroflask bottle in one of the side pockets. I get a little creative and secure it in the pocket by running a carabiner through the handle on the bottle lid and then through the zipper pulls on the pack. I haven’t found anything not to like about this pack. I haven’t tried to put a water bladder in the hydration pocket yet. I think it will be ok if I stick to a 1.5-2L bladder. Unless you just need a bigger pack, I don’t think you can go wrong with the Osprey Tempest 20L.

Comfortable day pack for hiking. Nice support on hip belt.
Comfortable day pack for hiking. Last summer I even used it hiking the 21 mile through hike of The Enchantments. Was amazing. Backpack was comfortable and the right amount of gear fits in this one. My only issue is that the 32ounce hiking water bottles will fall out of the side water bottle holders if you bend down.

Great except the hydration bladder area
I love the color and all the straps, pockets, the spacious interior space and the back ventilation, however I’ve watched about 5-6 videos and read reviews about the Tempest 20 and none of them mention how difficult it is to insert the bladder in!!! The nice thing is the bladder is on the outside so it doesn’t take up your interior space. Only one video that I watched, the hosts were both trying to pull the bladder out, they needed two people! I struggled with it so much, with a full 2L it’s nearly impossible. My bag had a different clip for the bladder it wasn’t a buckle clip like in all other reviews. You have to wrap it around and hook it, which also make its very hard to unwrap/ unhook it in such a tight space. The space opening in the picture above doesn’t expand, that’s all you get. I don’t understand how Osprey overlooked this important design for the bladder!! Tip: I did find it a bit easier if you put the backpack on the floor and insert it that way. Still I will keep it because everything else is well designed. Will just have to deal with the difficulties of inserting the bladder every time.

Great hiking bag with correct sizing
I love the bag, but I bought the XS/S based off the Osprey sizing guide on the Osprey site and was too small. I’m 5 feet 0 inches, 130 lbs. I also bought the M/L size and it was a better fit. It says the sizing is based off your height but I think it does matter how petite you are. For me personally the shoulder straps felt a little too snug around on either side of my neck and around the shoulders. I will be returning the XS/S and keeping the M/L.With that said, I absolutely recommend and love the Tempest 20. I love that it has two places for trekking poles, a front mesh pocket, side pockets, and my 3 litter water reservoir fits.
