Fantastic small backpack with space for water bladder
Absolutely fantastic small backpack for day hikes. I bought the Osprey Talon 11 and 22 backpacks for a hiking and mountain biking trip in southern Utah. The packs are amazingly comfortable for all day hikes. We hiked multiple days hiking 10 to 15 miles per day. We also biked Slickrock and other area trails wearing the backpacks with Full to nearly water bladders.I found the packs to be exceptionally comfortable, even when they were fully loaded. I typically earn a pretty good neck-ache and headache after wearing a backpack. With these, I was not bothered at all. They were also very comfortable to hike and bike in as they did not shift around with the chest and waist straps. The helmet attachment points are nice touch. Water bottle holders are nice as well. The waist strap pockets are very functional and I could fit my iPhone ProMax into the waist strap pocket for easy access.I know these bags cost a lot however, I found the comfort and usability to provide excellent value. I did not find a large difference in the usable sizes between 11 and the 22L. They are different sized but not double. I highly recommend these bags.Note, the water bladders are an extra purchase. I would say they were also worth it with the easy open full width top, and the waterlines being made with a detachment point in the middle of the line, which does not allow any water to escape. Very well designed. The water bladder slides into slot between the back pad and the pack itself.

    Beautiful product, excellent features
This is really a beautiful product, well constructed, lovely blue color, real quality, light in weight but durable. Not overdone, just the right amount of everything for a good day hike. Steps are easily adjustable, lots of range. The water bladder cavity is enveloped between the back frame and the inside compartment, but completely separate from the inside storage. The inside storage is roomy in a just right way. The side belt pockets are big enough for the cell phone. There is a stretchy front strap pocket that could possibly fit a cell phone, gps device, or glasses, IF they’re not too big – it’s a snug fit. This wouldn’t be for backpacking in my opinion based on size.. I’m a 5’11 female.. and women’s version of this was Way too small. Crisis averted as I simply went to the Men’s version, which is the Talon. I’m a fan of neutral colors, but understand the need to wear a color that is bright for safety of hunters, or for your companions to see to follow, or in the event Search and Rescue ever needs to find you. Highly recommend Osprey.

Excellent backpack, rides nicely without sticking, comfortable to wear for hours
Rating is 4.5 stars, see below for why I took 0.5 stars off.I recently used this backpack over about 10 days of hiking, much of it in hot weather up and down some mountain trails. I wanted comfort: firstly not making my back sticky and hot, and secondly being easy to wear loaded for 6 or more hours in a day. It passed both criteria with flying colors. There are bigger and smaller sizes, so you can get just what you need for your purposes, they should be just as comfortable. The minor negatives I have are: (1) Ideally there would be a few more small compartments for things like wallets and phones and keys. It’s easy to lose things in the depths when small items are packed in with fleece pullovers and jackets and granola bars and such. (2) It’s pretty hard to reach back to grab and pull out your water bottles: I ended up working with my travel partner to help each other out for this. I’d prefer a way to set those just a bit forward, and put the little waist packs behind perhaps.Overall I’m sold on Osprey backpacks, and would buy one again quite happily.

    Perfect
What can I say, this brand make great quality stuff. Perfect size for day hikes and, with all the adjustments it very comfortable. Only issue, like most backpacks, you can not get the water bottle out of the side pocket without taking the pack off.

The Talons are excellent light weight packs
I recently completed the Tongariro Northern Circuit (TNC), a 43KM alpine walk in a day and used a Talon 33. It was excellent – light, comfortable with well considered pockets. The water bladder system also worked very well.I am now located in Asia and on days off head into the hills for shorter walks (12 – 20KM), often over hilly terrain in high temperatures. The Talon 33 is a little big for this. Based on how good the 33 is I bought a Talon 11. Very similar design and style. Also proving to be ideal for light weight fast walks.I’ll stick with my Macpac Cascade pack for heavy loads in tough bush conditions, but the Talons are excellent for light travel in open country.

    Cannot go wrong with Osprey
We bought this for my husband who has a bad back for hiking. It is lightweight but extremely sturdy. My pack is heavier with camera equipment but many times I found myself grabbing this bag instead of my camera backpack due to the comfort level. Lot of pockets and storage areas. The waist band pockets fit an iPhone 14 Pro Max.

    Hydration Pouch — Rain Collector!
The Talon 11L Hiking Backpack is very comfortable. However, I am extremely unhappy with the pack for a major reason. The pouch for the hydration bag is completely open — it cannot be sealed! Why would anyone design a pack that is permanently open to the outside elements?!?!?! This is a horrible design problem, and I advise all potential buyers to reconsider purchasing the Talon 11L. Of course, if you prefer hiking with a pack that is completely open to the elements and will fill up with water should it rain or snow, please go ahead. Enjoy the extra unnecessary weight as you walk. I will attempt to see if someone can seal the pouch, but it seems unlikely at this point. See the photo! A waterproof zipper, a flap with a seal, anything — why no way to avoid water collection as you walk. Fatal flaw design.

As a mountain bike guide and coach, I need to carry kit to get riders through a session, sometimes far away from roads and transport links. I had been using Deuter EXP and wanted a change. The Osprey fits much closer to the body and is longer / flatter. With its suspension format it really feels comfortable and part of you. Ver light with plenty of storage space and pockets. Lid lock is useful as are the side easy access pockets. Great pack!

Perfect for a day on the fells. Lightweight, comfortable and with some useful and generously sized pockets and pouches here and there as well as a hydration bladder section. It’s not waterproof at all however so you’ll need a drybag to keep things dry that you need to keep dry in the event of a downpour.I also use this for rucking, going for brisk walks of 5 to10km with 15 kilo of weights inside. This is quite a bit beyond the recommended weight limit for this bag but it takes it in its stride. This is my 3rd Osprey bag and like my other 2 I couldn’t be more pleased with it.
