One of our favorite plates!
It’s so shocking that this plate is biodegradable because it’s so sturdy and feels hard like plastic! We put this through the dishwasher and it comes out good as new. Very spacious and holds lots of food.

Cute & Interesting Sippy Cup
A Nuby compostable sippy cup made of rice husks? I was intrigued (and in love with the cute little frog that is on the cup – see the first photo included with this review), so I ordered it.I think that this is my first product that is made of rice husks. The material reminds me of something, but I can’t quite place the memory (maybe those red and black bowls in which miso soup is sometimes served? maybe institutional food service items?). The material is heavier than plastic and almost ceramic-like (but lighter). Words fail me, so I included lots of pics with this review. The bottom of the cup contains some info about the material – see the fourth pic included with this review. It reads “Husk’s Ware 120 degrees C ~ -30 degrees C Product of Husk’s” and has a symbol that means it is safe for the cup to come in contact with food. There is no dishwasher safe symbol on the cup itself. The instructional materials that come with the cup indicate that the cup is BPA free and dishwasher safe, but not oven or microwave oven safe, and that the silicon ring is (of course) not compostable. More unexpectedly, the user is instructed to disassemble and clean the product and then place the components in boiling water for 5 minutes before the first use. I never would have thought to do the boiling thing if I hadn’t read the fine print. Our other sippy cups have screw-off lids, and I thought that I was going to have to roast this cup for having the most difficult lid ever, but it turns out that you just pull up on this lid to remove it. There is a silicone ring around the upper piece of the sippy cup, and that holds it in place perfectly. See the fifth pic. The lid is not likely to come off unless intentionally removed by an adult (but note that this is a “free flow” cup, so liquid might pour out if the cup is not upright). The boiling thing is a negative, but not a big deal. The finish on the cup I received gets a little weird looking right where the lower lip would go when drinking. See the third pic. I don’t know whether they are all like that, but probably not. The lid has “CAUTION CONTENTS HOT” printed on it, which is weird because (a) odds are, the person drinking from the cup cannot read, (b) the contents probably are not hot, and (c) if the contents of a kid’s sippy cup are hot enough to warrant such a warning, then that is a problem. Maybe the design of the lid was repurposed from a hot beverage food-service item intended for adults?Overall, I like this cup. It looks nice and I think it is more environmentally friendly than plastic. I’ll deal with the boiling thing and the weird finish near the lip if it means I can reduce the amount of plastic waste that we generate.

Cute and safe
I ordered this cup for my toddler. We used to use cups from IKEA for him but he has a habit of biting them while drinking, so I started to worry about microplastics. With this cup, I feel safer for him. 100% natural rice husk and compostable. Also, it is lightweight and good size for kidâs small hands.

Froggin it
This plate is nice and easy to clean, separates their food nicely, and looks good. Works well and seems pretty durable.

Adorable cup; has a fragrance
This is a cute little cup! The frog art appears on two sides. It came smelling a lot like perfume–or perhaps the rice husks or binders used to keep it together. Even after washing, it still has this fragrance, but it has been dissipating, which is good, as new it does make it a bit unpleasant to use with the fragrance. I also wish they would share what the 20% binders are, because it is 80% husks, but also made up of something else. While it seems like this might have a gritty texture, it just seems like standard plastic in person, even with a sheen. There’s just a slight texture, but it mostly just comes across as an oatmeal-color plastic.

Inviting and safe!
I have been leaning towards purchasing household items made of natural and organic materials. Being made with rice husks, an organic material, this plate has beneficial properties compared to other plate ware made from toxic materials. It’s sturdy, eco-friendly and versatile.I love the simple frog design, which is not only cute but also inviting for toddlers. It also promotes great portion control for a healthy diet for any child.I am delighted with this little guy.

Heavy cup made of natural material
This Nuby rice husk cup is a good choice for toddlers with some strength in their hands and arms. The cup is a light brown color and it has a frog on the outside of it. It’s a fairly typical 8oz size and shape that you’ll find with plastic cups, except this cup is much heavier and more substantial than the plastic cups you are used to. The walls of the cup have some thickness to them, and it’s just a dense material. The heft of the cup can help kids steady themselves as they learn to reliably drink without handles, but it’s not going to be great for kids under 24-18 months, because they might not have the strength to hold it properly. With that extra density, the cup is rather durable. It is easy to wash by hand, but you can put it in the dishwasher. The lip of the cup is small and easy to drink from. The only curious design choice is to call it “2-handed” in the product description – which implies two handles. Perhaps Nuby calls it 2-handed because it’s a heavy cup and they expect a 20 month old to use two hands to pick it up…Overall, I like this cup and like the idea of it being made with natural materials.

Large
These are way bigger than I was expecting, hard for a toddler, but will be fine when she is a little older.
