    Excellent camera!
This camera, although it would be considered “dated” by younger generations of photographers, is still very much a powerhouse and a must have for anyone wanting to take photos in a variety of situations! This is a step up from the previous DSLR I owned so there is a small learning curve for me as far as the features. I also consider it a step up from the z50 mirrorless I own. While mirrorless is lighter weight, there are situations where it just isn’t capable of doing what I need. The real test for this D7500 will be marching season during halftime shows, but as of so far, I’m impressed! The 18-140 lens is truly an excellent lens! It is able to zoom in and out as I need in all situations I’ve used it so far. Very fast auto focus and I love that I can easily switch to manual on the lens itself without fiddling with settings on the camera. This significantly lowers the risk of me missing a photo opportunity because I’m looking for a setting in the camera menu.Sturdy body. This does add weight to the camera but honestly I feel like that isn’t a bad thing. I started my photography journey with an SLR with no auto focus and black & white film in HS. I learned to develop the film and photos myself. The features and options on this camera are truly amazing and I still have a lot to learn about it, but so far I’m impressed! I’ve always been a Nikon girl and they continue to provide excellent photography cameras and lenses!*photo taken at my local Memorial Day ceremony. This pup was super fast and I took several photos in quick succession to get the one shown on the review here. The D7500 didn’t hesitate, focused quickly and I was able to take this picture. The owners were thrilled when I posted it on the local page as they had yet to get a good pic of their new pup 🙂

    Everything I wanted!
I was looking for an upgrade from my Nikon D 5100 and I did a little research into a newer model that would be good for a photography business. I found the 5100 as an affordable upgrade with higher megapixels at 20 megapixels and wider range in ISO and aperture. There is also a cool feature to transfer to your phone through the app and it is super simple. This is a step up from the D5100 of course however, I also think it is a good intro camera for a photography business. I didn’t want to invest thousands of dollars yet so this was a positive step in the right direction. The sellers were extremely fast and I received my camera four days before expected arrival. The camera is everything that was advertised and I would trust this seller in the future.

I was about ready to send it back
I can’t add much more to the numerous reviewers, except to state that after moving up from Film SLRs, and a Canon – Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II Digital Camera w/1 Inch Sensor and tilt LCD screen – Wi-Fi & NFC Enabled (Black) = which is used for indoor uses, I really needed some hand-holding to grasp the width and depth of the D7500 settings (especially the Custom Setting Menu: a-g with sub-menus) and their impacts on actual picture taking and button customization. This was my first Nikon product. . . I understand exposure, aperture, focal length, ISO, etc. (no claims whatsoever to composure or framing skills) and wanted to use the newer DSLRs in manual mode..I wanted to setup Back-Focus and reprogram some buttons to control Active D-Lighting, picture control, locked focus, and Auto-Focus off). After about a week of disastrous picture results and hair-pulling frustration over the inability to make settings interact correctly, I purchased a book – David Busch’s Nikon D7500 Guide to Digital SLR Photography – David Busch’s Nikon D7500 Guide to Digital SLR Photography. I not pitching authors or books in general, but sharing how much easier and faster I was able to set-up my D7500 for taking pictures manually. This is a solid replacement for Nikon’s manual. I also purchased a Kindle copy for traveling… I shoot in exclusively manual mode, but have now made a coherent custom menu, arranged Custom control assignments to easy to find/hit buttons, and copied (finally the correct combination of settings) to U1 (for color) and U2 (B+W). Whew! Before getting a robust “User Manual” I was about ready to send this Nikon back and opt for a Sony a . . . After these events, I propose that this is a great camera for the price range. The only other camera I was considering was the Sony Alpha a6500 – Sony Alpha a6500 Mirrorless Digital Camera w/2.95″ LCD (Body Only) – for about $1100 v this D7500 at $1145. This was the right choice–I may become a Nikon fan yet. . .

Excellent camera, great buffer size, excellent sensor and AE
I absolutely love this camera. I upgraded from a Nikon D5xxx and did not need the full blown capabilities of the D500. The D7500 was the perfect upgrade. I use a 128GB stick in it and I have set it up to my taste and I’m taking pictures. I love the speed of the 7500 in continuous mode and the fact I can take a LOT of pictures of fast moving scenes without filling the buffer in a few seconds. The touchscreen is great, works really well and is very intuitive. I love that it also pulls out and you can use it for low shots or high (above the crowd) shots. The D500 sensor with its integrated AE is superb and provides all the power of the more expensive model in a sensibly priced model. I have no need for a second SD slot, and the camera fist my hands so well, a battery grip would just make it heavier and bulkier.
