The drinking tube didnât work for me
I bought this to do trail runs. I have both camelback and osprey backpacks for hiking, but needed something smaller for running. The drinking tube with this pack would not allow me to drink.I noticed that the valve end that you put in your mouth moves up and down and that seems to lock it, but I was unable to unlock it. Luckily the tube from my osprey pack can be disconnected and it fits on this bladder, so I was able to use it. You can definitely tell a difference in the quality of the bladder and tube between osprey and the rhino pack.Update: changed the review to 5 stars. The company immediately responded to my 2 star review and sent a replacement bladder and tube. This one works.

It works!
I got this hydration pack for a half marathon. It took me a few minutes to figure out the release on the bite valve. The whole unit pulls up from the hose. The whole black part slides up and down. I thought it was just the bite valve that slid, but after popping it off, I realized that part doesn’t slide. Thankfully, it snapped back on with no problem. Once I got the unit to slide, then it slid up and down easily. The cap over the bite valve is nice to keep it clean, but not needed when in use (running). I did use the cap to wrap around the small elastic strap that is suppose to hold the hose/valve in place on the shoulder strap. It kept falling out of that little strap until I wrapped the cap around it. That holds it in place perfectly and it’s close enough to my mouth that it was easy to use. I left the valve in the open position and just bit down to allow the water to come out. As long as the valve is not being squeezed, it does not let the water leak out. The pack is lightweight and the bladder holds a nice amount of water for a long run. Of course, there were water stations along my run to supplement. If I was just doing a long run with no other water stations along the way, I would need to bring a lot more water. The pockets on the shoulder straps could hold slender water bottles or I could put one or two inside the pack to refill the bladder when it is empty. I used the pockets on the shoulder straps to hold my snacks and electrolyte chews for the run. The zipper pocket held my ID. It could also hold my car keys. The pack does bounce a little which is to be expected. It was comfortable to wear. I did have a small amount of chaffing on my back from the pack rubbing, but I’ll put some Glide there for the next run. The pack is easy to adjust and comfortable. I prefer the bite valve on a Camelbak, but this one does work well. The pack holds most of what you need for a run. The elastic straps to hold the bite valve are not adequate and you have to rig it to stay there. I simply wrapped the cap around it and it held nicely. While not a perfect pack, it is pretty good. It’s also not a bad price (currently $25) for what you get. If you are on a budget, I recommend you give this a try. I do like it and will continue to use it.

Surprised at the quality
So, honestly I was skeptical about purchasing this vest. I trail run and I was trying to find something on the smaller/ lighter side that would be comfortable without costing a fortune. This turned out to be the perfect solution. Two storage pockets on the front with an additional hidden zipper pocket plus a larger pocket on the back give you plenty of space for ID, gels, earbuds, phone, etc. Once you get it adjusted to you the water bladder stays put even while running. Itâs lightweight, has some reflective accents and seems to be durable. Overall, Iâm thrilled with this vest and, considering how inexpensive it is compared to others, feel like it was money well spent.

A little hard to fill
Overall I like this water backpack. I’ve used it at work outside in South Florida for the last week. It does not come with instructions, so I had to figure out a few things. The bite valve has a slide to lock it open/closed; this was not clear at first. After about a week, I also snapped the little plastic lanyard that attached the bite cap to the unit. The water reservoir on top is closed with a slide. The first time I filled the bag, I removed it from the backpack. While trying to put the bag back in the backpack, the top connector slid off and I dumped all the water out. After this, I would keep the bag inside the pack while refilling. The unit is convenient and has kept me hydrated. The value for the price is pretty good. The side stretch pockets are big enough to hold a two-way radio and shoulder squawker – that was a nice feature.

Nice vest, extremely comfortable and functional storage
I don’t run much anymore, but I’ve gotten back into day hikes and trekking. I saw this and loved how lightweight it looked, and hoped it would be sturdy (ie not move around, bounce if I jogged over something, etc), and it is! I had some concerns about whether this would hold enough for an actual dayhike that included a meal, like one that went from morning to late afternoon. Those concerns were valid, unless you’re going to have gel packs and a small bag of trail mix for lunch, you’re not going to fit a full meal in here along with safety items. However, this wasn’t a deal killer for me since I already had a very functional fanny pack for hiking, that I wear on my front so that items inside are easily accessible without having to move the pack around or take it off. Between all the great places to stash things on this N Nevo RHINO pack and the larger spacious compartment of my fanny pack, I can fit as much as many dayhike packs.I love the water bladded, they took time and considered things like how to hold the water bladder up in the sack, a dirt cover for the part you put in your mouth, and even an on/off option to ensure water doesn’t leak out. TBH, that caught me b/c I forgot about it and at one part of the trail this weekend I couldn’t get any water out. By chance I happened to move the water spout and suddenly it worked – then I remembered reading about that feature. For the price, currently ~$25 at time of this review, this is a steal if you’re looking for a comfortable water pack.
