Used it as a dog food dispenser
We went on a trip and needed a trustworthy way to feed our dog. I had purchased an automatic dog feeder in the past but found that if the dog knocked into it or a cat decided to jump on it, the weight would reset and the feeder would no longer go off. We invested in this product and are so happy we did. I ended up buying puppy chow because the bits were smaller than the dog food our pupper normally ate. It worked wonderfully. We did fashion a “surround” for it using zip ties and screen so the food wouldn’t go flying far (that would just be mean!). I’m sure our dog would’ve been up to the challenge of finding all the pieces, but we had it fall just below the unit in a relatively nice pile.The unit was very easy to assemble, had no missing parts, and it looks good even right next to the house. The feeder is a great size and you can adjust the height of the legs as desired. It is very windy where we live and the unit didn’t tip over. It operates off of AA batteries and is extremely easy to program. There is also a “key” or “legend”, if you will, on the lid to the battery/setting compartment so you do not have to hold onto any instructions or look up how much food is dispensed in “X” number of seconds. I highly recommend either for use as a deer feeder or dog food feeder. 🙂

Good, Basic Deer Feeder for Backyard Amusement
I bought the basic version a few months ago. It was easy to set up and has held up well in wind and rainstorms.I’ve replaced the AA batteries twice. It seemed sometimes to not activate on the schedule but new batteries seem to solve that issue.Deer feed on a schedule related to sunrise/sunset but this timer is static…so you may want to adjust several times a year. I find it easiest to wait until the feeder is almost empty to lower it on its side and adjust the timings. Unfortunately, if you try to remove the timer/spreader in the vertical position, corn will pour out…it’s a gravity feed.If you struggle lift 40 lb. bags of deer corn to fill the hopper, you can use a bucket to easily lift up managable amounts.I added the varmint guard II and the “feet” extensions and don’t regret that!Living next to a golf course, deer are always present. I would rather watch them eat the corn rather than eating my hydrangeas. If you can’t beat ’em…

Sturdy for a Plastic Feeder
A lot of plastic deer feeders seem very flimsy, but this one is made out of thicker plastic and seems much sturdier than others. I expected to hold up and look good for many years.

Doesn’t last
This is the second one that I bought. It works for 3 years and then stops working. New batteries, display works, but when you run a test, nothing happens.

For a cheap feeder it is well designed. Timed feeders can be problematic in the extreme cold and I’m sure this one will be too. Will probably buy or build a gravity feed tube for it.
