Great minimalist wallet… and cards won’t fall out
I like a small wallet with the minimum of cards. Debit card, insurance card, driver’s license, and one credit card. Plus a folded up $20 bill that is rarely used. I wanted a simple wallet, but the feature I wanted was that it close in a way that keeps the cards contained (I had a wallet with looser pockets and cards would slip out at the wrong times.) This wallet is perfect for me. In fact, bought a spare. Quality is excellent and it even smells good.

This is a decent wallet for the price, however you don’t want to overload it.First off, the image is a little deceiving. It shows a Benjamin fitting nicely in the pocket. Well, any US currency barely fits folded in half, and it you have too much, you probably will not be able to get it closed. To really fit bills, you really need to fold them twice. So if you only carry one or two bills, it should be fine. If you routinely carry a lot of cash, I would look elsewhere.With cards, it is fine with 2 or 3 cards. Once you get more than that, it really starts to get a little puffy.So if you are trying to store 2 or 3 cards with a couple of bills and no change, this is a great wallet at an even better price. If you goal is to slim down that wallet with 5 cards and a wad of bills, then I would consider something else.

Back in July, I was in France at a very busy street event and had my wallet stolen from my cargo shorts pocket – the low one next to your knee. My fault – stupid me. Use a money belt!So that forced me to drag out my ancient wallet from way back which is totally worn out. I hate it because it is so loose that the cards fall out and I use a rubber band to keep it tight. But really all of those traditional wallet designs suffer from that. Tip them upside down and make sure you’re not standing over a drain grate all you’ll lose the lot as they slide out.This design from Montana West solves that problem by folding in on itself to keep everything closed up safely. I only just received it, and will experiment with it for a while, but so far I really like it. It makes the whole thing smaller too taking up less space in a jeans pocket.The wallet is made from very very soft leather in a pretty chestnut brown shade with a very low key skin texture. There is a neat seam of stitching around the outside hem. When you feel it between your fingers and give it a squeeze there is a satisfying softness to it like a slight cushion effect. Inside there are three card pockets on each side in thin well finished leather. If you put cash in there it would need to be folded but I can’t remember the last time I used dollar bills.The wallet comes in a very small and stylish black cardboard box that would definitely qualify the package to be given as a gift. It looks very nice indeed.
