Best cat scratcher on the market for the money!
This is about the best and long lasting scratch pad on the market for the price. First off, it isnât cardboard which means it lasts longer than a week. In fact, itâs a kind of carpet material which lasts a couple of years and that is having four cats using it daily. I donât lean it and it works out better flat. When one side gets cruddy and finally starts to break down I just flip it over. This extends the use to another year or so. It is also the best priced for the amount of use. My cats love it. All of them. Lol. I have bought both the longer and the 20 inch one. I rather the shorter ,wider one to the longer, narrower one. I have bought about four of these over the years. When I had the cardboard ones, I was having to buy them over and over over weeks. I will NEVER buy another corrugated one again. Waste of money. If you have cats, this is the one for you to buy. But for some reason it is hard to find on Amazon. I had to do a lookup on my past orders to reorder it.

Not great at leaning but a good carpet scratcher alternative
I was excited about the potential of a carpet textured cat scratcher that I could actually lean against the walls. We have 6 cats and none of them have taken to the leaning position of this scratcher. At least 3:6 cats like the scratcher when it is placed down on the ground and doused with cat nip Cosmic Pet 4.5 Ounce Cup Catnip or cat nip spray Eight in One Products M6104 Kookamunga Catnip Spray 4oz. The construction of this item is different than I expected it to be and the vinyl end caps are glued on and one keeps falling off (right out of the package). The Lean-it scratcher is carpet wrapped around a .5″ x length of the scratcher wooden plank. The scratcher is hollow in the inside save the plank. I have posted pictures and hope this makes sense. The cap was supposed to be glued on but was undone right out of the package. I like the scratcher but perhaps some minor quality issues.Still, although it does not lean it is a favorite among one of my ferals who usually likes to sharpen her claws on a stair. This feels like a stair to her so it is a nice replacement.4 stars for quality.

Saved my carpet
I once had this scratcher for a while when it came with a foster cat, and I’d say it is one of the best horizontal scratcher I have ever tried.I am recently pet sitting two cats (they are at my home) and after I stopped them from scratching the futon, they soon start scratch on my carpet. I noticed that although they use the vertical scratchers I have for my own cats, they do like horizontal surfaces as well so I bought this scratcher to try. And it worked! One cat immediately stopped scratching my carpet and started using it. The other is still figure it out (she is slow on pretty much everything except eating) and I still have to watch her and stop her when she scratches on the carpet. A great buy and saved my carpet! I also have horizontal cardboard scratchers that my own cats love, but i have to pick up the shredded papers after them. The carpet cover makes things much easier for me, and from my foster experience I know it will be very sturdy and last a very long time.I was not planning on leaning it against the wall or furniture so not sure how what works. I am reluctant to try it, because if it falls and falls on the cats once, they may not want to try it again. If your cat likes to scratch on vertical surfaces, I’d just get a scratch post or other vertical scratchers.

Not the Best. Not the Worst.
I am so desperate to save my walls Iâm trying everything to occupy my young kitten who is enjoying my walls and door frames too much. I purchased this scratching post because it is portable and thought I could take it upstairs at night for her to scratch on. She does scratch on it sometimes, but it is so lightweight and wobbly itâs not her favorite (thatâs reserved for my walls). I have tried placing it flat down on the floor but she wonât scratch it in that position. To her itâs just a ladder. As of late, I have used it to block the corner of the wall to the stairs to keep her from scratching there. It works great as a blockade and so for now Iâm getting my monies worth. So itâs not the best scratching post on the market, but it isnât the worst.

My cats ALWAYS have to scratch this post when entering a room
I have bought several of these scratching posts. They are placed flat on the floor near the entrance to every hallway and every room. My cats always go directly to these posts and scratch to leave their scent. When the sun is shining on these posts, the cats will rub them then cuddle and nap on them. Finally, they are no longer tearing up the rugs or the door frames. And my cats could not care less about the colors, so I have learned to ignore the random colors that may or may not blend in with my decor. These are a must-have for cats to safely sharpen their claws and to mark their territory. I have had these for a long time and they are still in perfect condition – claw proof!

They finally stopped tearing up my couch!
I bought this because my two cats suddenly decided my couch made a great scratching post. I read the reviews so I didn’t even bother trying to stand it up against the wall, I just laid it flat next to the wall. Because I am clearly the head cat of my household, I had to scratch my nails on this to show them what to do. They immediately got the hang of it. At first they seemed to like lounging on it more than they liked scratching it and they kept scratching the couch, so when I caught them scratching the couch, I just picked them up and put them on this and they would resume their scratching. Now they leave the couch alone and they loooove scratching their little claws on this baby! My poor couch will never recover but at least it won’t get any worse! I’m about to buy a second scratcher right now because my cats are jerks and are very reluctant to share, and the price is low enough to justify buying each of them their own personal scratcher.

Great option to redirect!
Really like the material of this-and as you can see, my cat does as well! What would give it five stars would be if it were possible to attach it to the wall rather than simply lean it. Due to the purpose of this item, the post gets pulled down every time.

I lay it flat because it suits my cats better. It slips down the wall if I lean it against the wall.My cats love this and use it all the time. Itâs held up well and they also use it to just lounge on. I will definitely reorder if this one ever wears out.

Bought this to stop my cat destroying the sofa, placed it over the spot that was being used as a clawing spot Cat won’t go near the board but will still claw under the board on the sofa!Cat’s prerogatives!Otherwise it would have been great if it was used.

Don’t get me wrong, its a nice scratcher. But tell me, why is it that my cats don’t care how nice the scratcher is, or what it’s covered in to make it tempting for them to scratch, they still prefer my bed, my floorboards and anything else they’re NOT supposed to scratch on. I believe these scratching boards need something potent to be sprayed on them to encourage a cat’s to become addicted so they never leave the scratching post. It leans well against the wall, doesn’t leave marks, stays where you put it. My cats have ruined my flat and my possessions and this was my last hope. I have dreams of where I am kneeling by the post and teaching them how to use it. Once again, nice sturdy scratching post for normal cats! Just not mine.
