This is an adorable little board book about Kitty Cat having to get up and get ready for school. The verse is done in a sing-song rhyme and I like to read this to my grandson when it is time for getting ready for his parents to pick him up to go home. He likes to take his shoes and socks off at my house and part of the book is about find the Kitty Cat’s shoes and socks.The illustrations are so cute, with Kitty Cat doing all sorts of silly things and poses that most toddlers and parents of toddlers can relate to. It is a sweet book and one that we read at least once a day.

I read this as well as its companion book, “Kitty Cat, Kitty Cat, Are You Going to Sleep?”, to my niece every time I see her and she keeps asking me to read it to her again and again. She – at 2 1/2 years old – almost has the stories memorized. I love to put voices to the dialogue, as well as point out some things for her to remember, such as the playing with the toes line, where I tickle her toes as I read it. Truly delightful pair of stories, perfect for bedtime, but good for any time.

I bought this for my granddaughter (3 yrs 8 months). She loves the story and quickly learned to âreadâ along by finishing the rhyming sentences. The use of enriching language is another highlight, my granddaughter picked up on the phrase, âNot yet, mother…âand had fun using the unusual syntax and address (for her) to answer her own mother when she wanted to delay an activity. The illustrations are also a draw, very sweet!
