Pretty accurate!
I had a feeling our old Mainstays kitchen scale was off, so I bought this KitchenAid scale to replace it. My wife is a technician and has weights to calibrate checkout scales at stores. I put 6 lbs of weight on the large platform, it measures 5 lbs 15.7 oz. Pretty accurate! I then put 8 oz on the small platform, it measures 8.009 oz. Again, pretty accurate! Our old one measures 4 lbs 10.4 oz with 6 lbs of weights on it. VERY inaccurate! Kitchenaid, you did a fantastic job with this scale! Thank you! I would definitely recommend it!

Versatile dual platform digital kitchen and food scale
I bought this scale to replace my OXO Grip 11 lbs. kitchen scale that I had for more than 6 years. I found one from Kitchen Aid that can do both. The 1st platform is the bigger scale at the middle. Very sensitive and concise. The 2nd is located on the top right corner. it measures ingredients very precise and it is very sensitive to minute amounts of things around the sensors. So it is best to work on a very clean and evenly levelled surface.The read out is very clear, and it is bright. I love how the dark LED and light blue colored digits are very clear on either a dark environment and well-lit space.So far I just made cookies with the dry and wet ingredients. This is a great design not only for the kitchen, but also for other uses too like jewelry making, pawn shop, and other tasks.I just tried it on its 1st day making cookies. So hopefully this will lasts more than 5 years, if taken care of. This digital kitchen and food scale use 3 AAA batteries. It already have 3, so thank you!

Good scale, minor caveats
It’s a good scale, measures accurately and quickly enough, with a good sized platform for heavy things and an accurate platform for things that need a lot of precision. Controls are fairly intuitive.A disclaimer for why I gave it a 5 even though I have some issues: I’ve been particularly hard on the scale over a 4 month window. Every day usage, hot things, fine jam prone powders like corn starch or xanthan gum.In short, I have not been kind to this scale, and it’s still performing perfectly satisfactorily for the price I paid.The platforms being made of of metal means that they conduct heat well. If you’re weighing something hot, the heat transfer to the platform will make it warp ever so slightly and you’ll see the weight shift by a gram or two. This only matters if your recipe is that sensitive.I corrected it by buying a cheap sheet of self adhesive cork and just putting that on it. Costs next to nothing, gives enough insulation that everything is stable, and also looks nice.The positioning of the control buttons makes them well situated to have anything you spill land on them, and if that happens to be something like corn starch, it can be a bit sticky.I handled this by rotating the scale so I don’t drop things on the controls. A little soft plastic cover over the buttons might also help.Overall a good scale for cooking with small quantity ingredients.

Scale does what it needs to and is accurate. The auto shut off does occur pretty quickly if you don’t keep an eye on it. For the price of this scale, you’d think they’d have more features (like holding the weight for a period of time, or a pull out face like the OXO scale) and more measurement types (besides lbs/oz and g/mg).
