    Great For Beginners
I bought this DVD set in order to expand my exercise library. I also needed a way to de-stress after work as I’m a nurse in a busy ICU.I was very happy with the pace and feeling of these programs. I am not new to yoga, however my practice has slacked off in the past few years so I needed a set that would challenge me but not destroy my body as I tried to get back my flexibility and strength. These DVD’s were everything I could have wanted. The pace was slow enough that I didn’t feel rushed and Tamal offered variations of each pose for those of us who can’t go in to the full movement. I also loved the way he projects himself and his tone of voice. Some yoga DVD’s have a tone of voice that I can’t stand and instead of lulling me in to peace and comfort, they grate on my nerves and ruin my session. Tamal is peaceful, smooth in his movements and language, and projects a quietness and energy that click with my personality. The DVD is not overwhelmed with spiritualism or talks of higher powers or surrendering yourself to mother earth, etc. Those are all things that turn me off because in my practice I want someone who will guide me through movements practically and encouragingly but not pushing something I don’t want to hear in to the mix.I feel energized and refreshed after the energy DVD and use the relaxation one after I come home from work and need to slow my mind before falling asleep. The only complaint I have is that I wish the practices were a little bit longer so I could get more in to it. However, I’m used to hour long yoga sessions so in the future as I progress in my practice again, I will purchase longer DVD’s.

    Lovely and wonderful
I’ve done the Relaxation practice, which is 40 minutes long, and I’m really impressed with it.Tamal Dodge, the instructor, has a soothing voice, and his cuing is great. His sequencing is different than what I’ve done in yoga studio classes, and I was pleasantly surprised at how relaxing the practice was. One of the unusual asanas was a variation of eagle pose while seated. His comments on what certain poses do was really interesting. One thing I really liked is that the practice isn’t rushed, and he gives you a lot of quiet breathing time, which really helps to release tension while in asanas. Also, the yoga nidra as the end is very soothing and well done – it’s not all talk. I’m definitely a fan of his style of teaching as a result of this practice. The music is relaxed, a little bit new age jazz. A horn is a little loud at minute 33, but overall, the music is very nice. The setting, like all Element DVDs, is outdoors in a garden that seems to be on the Pacific Ocean. It’s very beautiful and pleasant, and one of the reasons why I like the Element DVDs.No props are needed, which surprised me. I did use a blanket during Sukhasana, easy pose, because it makes sitting for a while more comfortable for me. However, no need for blocks or straps.Although I haven’t tried the Energy practice yet, I have to rave about the relaxation practice. The feeling I had at the end of the practice is the closest thing I’ve found in a DVD that compares to a yoga studio class.

Recommended – Just what I was looking for in a DVD
I love these Element DVDs – very calm, perfectly instructional, and provide modifications for more difficult asanas. Outside of the given Beginners courses, these DVDs really provide some challenging poses for the learning yogi, like myself, and also show the advanced version of poses for when I get to that strength/dexterity level someday! The background music isn’t distracting or overbearing/obnoxious, and scenery helps set the stage for calm, too.Sure, it’s beneficial to maybe start out with yoga with a live instructor, so they can help you understand core postures and the like, but the instructor’s fortifying instructions through both straightforward and abstract description during positions is very helpful (all you could ask for from a fitness DVD), and helps “perfect” the pose as safely and as usefully as possible through posture and connections.I think I’ve basically bought most of the Element yoga DVDs available on Amazon, and for ballet conditioning additionally, and have become an outgoing customer. I’d recommend the Element DVDs to anyone, as they provide instructional programs for absolute beginners too. They’ve really ignited my passion to do yoga daily, be it with a short session or one of their longer practices.

    Perfect for shorter practice.
I always a few yoga divds that offer shorter segments (25-30 minutes) for days when I’m short on time. I really think yoga is most beneficial when I can spent at least 45 minutes, but the shorter options are nice because I can squeeze it in before work, or even on a lunch break. This is one might be my favorite. The Energy practice is enough to feel worth doing. and the Relaxation is great for stress relief. This is my first purchase from Element. If they are all like this one, I will get more.

My favourite yoga DVD now! I bought this DVD particularly for the Relaxation routine as I prefer gentler and more meditative yoga routines. As such, I’ve yet to try the Energy routine, as it doesn’t look like the style of yoga I enjoy as much. But the Relaxation routine is now my favourite routine to use out of several yoga DVD’s I own. This routine covers a wide range of deep stretching over the course of a 40 minute session. Tamal Dodge is a great instructor, easy to listen to and quite calming in his presentation. I always feel great after a session of this routine, and highly recommend it 🙂

Found this DVD very relaxing and liked that it included some poses that are not in other Yoga DVDs such as pigeon pose which is very good for hip stretching. Enjoyed the variation on use of poses such as on the warrior pose.

Tamal Dodge is easily my favourite yoga DVD instructor. He gives great corrections throughout and his routines have a distinctive flow to them that feels different than others I’ve tried. The relaxation routine is about 40 minutes long and is fantastic for days when you’re either recovering from a more hardcore routine or you’re simply just in need of destressing – try it after a long day at the office. The energy routine can be surprisingly challenging in a few spots but Tamal never pushes you past the point of comfort and offers modifications throughout. Couldn’t recommend this one more!

I have a small selection of yoga dvds and this is the one i use most often, and haven’t got bored of yet. In fact i appreciate being able to feel the poses get easier when i do follow it consistently. As well as enjoying the moves themselves, Tamal Dodge says just the right things, in just the right amount of words (i tried one online series of yoga videos and found the “chatter” very distracting!), and in a manner that doesn’t irritate me at all and in fact is quite calming. With regard to the level of the dvd, for me (a 44 year old regular runner/jogger with reasonable flexibility but zero upper body strength who dips into yoga for a few weeks every now and again) it’s my intermediate level one; i have both less challenging ones and a more challenging one. If you are a complete beginner i probably wouldn’t recommend, but i would think it should be suitable for anyone with some strength/flexibility and ability to follow instructions. At the same time, if you practice yoga regularly already then you may want something more challenging.
