Great print quality, great content (only 1 minor gripe)
So I just got my book today, and not to repeat other reviews but come on, rate the product for what it is, not due to your lack of understanding! So first, since I ordered the print version, I’ve gotta say the thing that most concerned me before ordering was the quality of the printing. This is a very cheap book, as in price-wise, it’s on the low end particuarly for a high-color book, and I feared the print quality would suffer as a result. However, I’ve gotta say, the print quality is phenomenal. Nice thick glossy pages (but not so thick that the entire book is like 10 pages), spot-on high quality color printing, it just feels nice. The comics are also hilarious, but as other reviewers have commented, much of it is already on the ‘net. That being said, I wasn’t really shocked and personally, I don’t think that’s all that much of a problem. Many books merely gather web content, and many of them don’t even provide new content as well! I have a post-secret book, which even though it’s all online, seeing it in print is worth the price (if you like that kind of stuff). Heck, many comic series are free (Hobbes, Garfield, etc) yet I still buy those books as well. Anyways, the gist of it is yes, much of the book is already online, but some of it is not; if you absolutely love the Oatmeal comics the new ones are worth it, if you’re kinda “meh” on the ones that area already online such as “How to Tell If Your Cat Is Plotting to Kill You”, then no, the new content isn’t worth it. Funny, but not pee your pants hilarious. Finally, This leads me to my one complaint, but again, I’d say it’s also personal opinion: I wish the book was larger. While I can see and appreciate how neatly Inman organized the comics to work in a normal novel-size book, I think comics lend themselves to more “creative” book sizes, particularly when they are somewhat conversation-piece oriented. Personally, I actually would have liked a 10″x14″ hardbound version, but I think Matthew did this probably to make the piece more affordable. Like I said, that’s personal opinion, but I’m not going to knock off stars because Matthew didn’t personally make and design the book to my exact specifications. The book is solid, and more then worth the price of admission.

This is cute and funny BUT….
I wish somewhere in the description. It would have mentioned this part of the book that I’m showing in pictures, as I bought this for my niece who loves cats and has this kind of humor. But yeah now I’m gonna have to butcher this book to make it appropriate.

    This is just funny…
A well illustrated book on the misanthropic aspects of cats is a well-written classic that cat-interested people should have on their coffee table or reading room.

Kitty landmines – very real – very dangerous! 😉
If you’ve not read any of the ‘Oatmeal’ comics, well, you probably should. You can see a lot of excerpts for free on his Facebook page. Or look at the preview for this and other books of his. But if you have a really good sense of humor, and aren’t afraid to laugh at yourself, then these are hilarious books. Matthew Inman is a great person and he isn’t afraid to push some buttons (apparently the die hard Christians are made at him for his ‘How God is Managing the Rapture’ comic). This particular book was being offered for dirt cheap on Kindle ($1.99 I think it was!). The book is a collection of many different ‘sketches’ (he is a computer graphics artist) and comics from over several years. Not every comic in the book deals with cats plotting to kill humans, but several do. But they all feature cats in some clever way. The ‘Bob-cats’ is a funny twist on office work. Other comics show the humor of cat behavior. If you don’t have a cat or haven’t had a cat, some of this will be unfamiliar – but still funny nonetheless. If you have a cat, then you can chuckle along at the totally real occurrence of the ‘kitty land mine’. Seriously – the kitty land mine is very real, and almost always occurs on the stairs! It’s something that I like having on Kindle so that I can read it on my phone Kindle app if I’m having a blue moment. It never fails to both amuse and lift my spirits. We worth a couple of bucks.

Not as funny as I expected
I heard the author being interviewed about the book on NPR and thought “I need that book.” Well, it’s entertaining but not as funny as the author and host made it out to be, basically a series of drawings of cats doing what cats do. If you have a cat, you will see yours in many of the drawings but I can watch them for free, I don’t need a book of drawings.

The humor is quirky and funny. Just don’t take it too seriously. You might start suspecting your own cats.

Bought this book as a gift for a friend. Looked through it beforehand and it is absolutely hilarious. I loved all of the funny things about how different cats are behaving and why. Picking up internal thoughts and how we think they’re always thinking about killing people. Such funny book and would 100% recommend to any cat lover.

The fact that this is advertised as a bestseller should be used to show how low people’s standards are. The “book” consists of a shamefully limited amount of pages of incredibly unfunny comics, most of which are not even related to cats trying to kill you.I wasted 10 minutes of my life, and the “book” went straight into the garbage.
