    Very nice mid-level cam
I’ve been using a Logitech Streamcam since its release and have mostly liked it. It works great in good conditions, but shifted to a more enclosed area with very little natural lighting. And ever since doing that, I’ve had trouble with it washing out the picture if there’s artificial light, or being too dark if there’s not. I have a mostly Elgato lighting set up (2 key lights and a light strip) as well as a stream deck. The Logitech has never had good software, but that wasn’t a big deal until recently.Given the streamcam was good enough. I am teach undergraduate and graduate students almost entirely online, so I wasn’t needing a professional setup, just for meetings, zoom, and recording videos (using xsplit with a small video of me in the corner of a presentation). Recently, the lighting frustration bothered me more and more and I saw this Mk.2 release. I decided to try it out and see if it was an improvement.Yes, yes it was very much. While the lighting isn’t perfect, the overall quality is so much better I have no regrets at all about shifting to a similar range alternative. The low light works great, the overall image and recording is better, and the software is far and away more user friendly. I can control many functions through my stream deck, making for more dynamic adjustments on the fly in presentations, online live sessions, etc.Comes with a pretty thick 3.0 USB cable, but if you have a USB C slot in your computer you’re wanting to use you’ll need to buy your own. Which I did. But having only the 3.0 makes this useable for even older setups.

A solid improvement over the original FaceCam (which was great)
As much as I liked the original Facecam, the one feature they lacked that was a consistent irritation was that the zoom was such a blunt instrument – it zoomed into the center of the frame and you couldn’t, say, zoom in on a corner if that worked better. Instead, you had to physically adjust it, which was a pain. The MK.2 corrects that, and it’s awesome. The video quality is superb at its price point, outperforming (IMO) webcams that cost more. The controls are great, especially in that you can save specific PTZ presets. The other controls are largely the same as on the original Facecam, aside from adding HDR.

Great quality, 10x better than the $50 webcams
Bit of a steep price for a 1080 camera but native resolution is a big difference. I have my background blurred with the elgato cam app but without the blur the cam is clear enough to see details of my background even when its focused on me.

Expensive but worth the price if you value good video
This is as close as you can get to a DSLR. The software controls enable you to adjust brightness and other variables, but the picture is really clear already.Be warned, unlike most webcams, there’s no built in microphone, you will need to set one up separately.UPDATEThe mounting screw hole plate cracked. I had to jigger up a phone mount to hold it. Not a great solution. I’m pulling a star for poor construction

    Amazing Streaming/Recording Webcam
I am a content creator and streamer (@lowtierhero_ on youtube), and the quality of this webcam is fantastic! The output, even in low light, still looks very clean! The FPS reach gives the camera an expensive vibe and beats out the Logitech webcam I was using for a year. I also use it for class and everyone always asks me how I get the picture clear and smooth! Overall, very content. This review is after 2 weeks of use. If anything changes, I will update this statement.

    Overpriced, Laggy 4K
I bought this to work with the Prompter as a simple plug and play replacement for using a mirrorless camera. While I knew that the dynamic range and colors wouldn’t be as good, I figured for $300 that this camera would at least run so smoothly I’d be able to forget about it and concentrate on all the other aspects of running my stream.I was wrong.First and foremost, let me say that I believe the biggest handcuff to this camera is the software. While you can plug the camera in and select it as a hardware source in OBS or Teams, it operates at it’s base settings. To get more out of it, you need to run Camera Hub where you can select the resolution and framerates, add background blur, pan/tilt/zoom, adjust exposure and auto focus, and preview the feed before using it in your signal chain. I have never had issues running Camera Hub for the Prompter or EppocCam before so I didn’t think this would be any different. But as soon as you try to run 4K, the feed gets so choppy and laggy the Preview is unusable. Okay, so maybe it’s just the Preview function that’s laggy and the feed into OBS won’t be. Wrong. Any time I tried using anything other than 1080p, in any framerate combination, the feed became unusable. This is all running on a PC with an RTX3090, i9, and 64gb RAM so the machine is not the limitation here. Oh, and selecting the resolution doesn’t mean other programs like Teams won’t force change the resolution in Camera Hub when the Elgato Virtual Camera is selected. My only solution to all this was to set it at 1080p and leave it. Paid for 4k, forced to use 1080p.Then there is the rediculous autofocus shifting every few seconds with no way to adjust the ‘speed’ or ‘rate of acquisition’ like you can in even the most bottom tier cameras. Moved a little? The displayed scene aggressively resets focus by cycling through the focal distance range. Looks like a quick zoom out/in/center. I don’t expect mirrorless camera caliber focusing, but this just looks and feels awful. The way around this is to, you guessed it, use Camera Hub and change some settings. Like turn off auto focus and set a manual distance, or ‘lock’ the focus once you’re in. Sounds great until you notice the ‘lock’ has turned off on it’s own and now your audience is getting that ugly focus stutter every time you move.TL;DR this camera was promising but is poorly executed, dependent upon poorly optimized software, and exceedingly frustrating to use. If you want to blow $300 on a “4k” camera that will only comfortably run at 1080p and make you regret using autofocus, then sure get this. Otherwise look elsewhere.P.S. I used the provided usb-c cable plugged directly into my tower’s usb-c port, which is a 3.2 gen 2 10gbps port. The hardware chain beyond the camera itself was not the issue.

    Good camera, iffy software
Every time I restart the camera, even if I just cut the cam in a Teams call, I have to reopen the app to restart my settings. Super irritating.

The image quality is crystal clear, with vibrant colors and sharp details that make you look professional in any setting. The software is super intuitive, letting you adjust settings like exposure and white balance with ease. It also performs great in various lighting conditions, so no need for a fancy setup to look your best. The company behind them is also incredible, one of the best customer service experiences I’ve ever felt with past webcams keep me using them.
