If you havenât played catan, you really need to get your head in the game. This is the most exciting game to ever exist, and has endless options of expansion packs + extensions to allow for more players. It only allows for 6 players with the extensions, which is enough because youâre going to fight with everyone while you play and you donât want to lose any more friends than you already will. Catan brings out the worst in everyone, in the best way possible. If you are already competitive, be aware that this will tip the scales of your competitiveness. Especially if the robber gets placed on your resources. This game is relatively challenging and takes a lot of skill, but once you learn the main aspects itâs fairly easy to play. Family-friendly for kids over 10 I would say, but be careful because if they beat you youâll want to put them up for adoption. The goal of the game is simple, itâs getting there that takes a while. Best for rainy days or when you just donât feel like doing much! You need to have this game in your life.

Love it but……
Received the Catan game and was excited to learn. Once you start playing it’s easy to learn and is a ton of fun. Unfortunately when we set up the game we had one missing piece (an orange city). I don’t want to return the game because well we can make it work and it’s a huge hassle. I tried to go to product support that lead me down the path to the catan website that states if there are missing parts to contact the seller because all Catan games are not made by one specific company. Well I have no clue who actually made the game that Amazon sold me and the only option I have is to return the game for a replacement….I just need an orange city lol. Super bummed the part was missing but with that being said if you are looking for a fun family game don’t hesitate to buy this. It states ages 10+ but I would suggest this more for 14+ because you do have to really pay attention and there is a lot of thought tactic to win as well.

This is a great family game, fun for adults and kids. I play with my 10 and 8 year old, it’s a bit too complicated for my 5 year old though. It’s pretty easy to learn, not overly complicated. We’ve brought it out to the cottage to family game time to play with grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins, and everyone likes playing it once they catch on to the rules. The game is over when the first player reaches 10 points, but you could adjust the number of points to win if you wanted to play a shorter version.This base game is for only up to four players, which is fine for at home since we’re usually only three playing. For family gatherings though we’d need an expansion pack, so I’ll probably buy one of those too.

I love this game. This is only an add on to the actual game so that you can play with 5-6 players instead of just up to 4 players. In the game you have to find out a way to build the longest road and develop your town/ cities. There are many ways to do this and so the game is never played in the same setup again. It’s a game where once you understand the rules (Which are explained well in the booklet that comes with it) you can play for hours with friends and have fun and add on other expansion sets. Highly recommended.If you want to travel with the game you can also do this, but may need a more practical way to pack it, instead of keeping it in the box.
