I adopted two rescue kittens last year and it’s been a struggle to get them to scratch things other than my furniture and rugs. They weren’t really interested in the upright cardboard scratcher or the S shaped one that lies on the floor. That one, they’d rather juggle with than scratch. But this one, where there’s a box to get into and a toy that they want remove from the hole, encourages scratching. As soon as I unpacked it she was in it. And she hangs out in the box (there are 2 scratchers still in it), grabbing a toy to play with every so often. Beyond that, the scratchers seem to be well made, with a more compact construction, so they don’t tear up as quickly. That should make them last longer than the grocery store scratchers. Not to mention you get more scratchers for your money compared to those!

I initially put this scratcher out with just a couple of scratchers in the box, but I quickly realized it was too small for my 16 lb cat to use. Once I put all the scratchers in the box so it was level with the top and put both the scratcher boxes end to end, my cat started using it and now he loves it. I like that there are 5 2-sided scratchers in each box because that will last my cat a long time.

Found these I like that they have their replacement boards and a nice deep box for cats to lie in. But I really couldn’t believe how quickly then you cat took to it (and thank you Amazon for next day delivery!) I sprinkled the enclosed catnip and maybe that helped, she loves it and lies and plays in it with her other toys. I think these are going to be a great furniture saver, very environmentally friendly and great value. When the current boards are used up I’ll be getting more.

Less Mess with Box setup
I bought this because the scratcher is encased in a box. My cat loves these cardboard scratch pads, but they make a mess as a stand alone with paper shards and shreds going everywhere . The box is keeping the mess minimal and it’s great to have 3 extra scratch pads included. They save my furniture and area rugs from being clawed. She also loves to stay in the box, but is upset I posted her picture claiming it makes her look fat 🙂
