Works great for my cat!!
Update: I bought this back in May and itâs July, and for some reason the timer stopped working 🙁 I changed the battery, but itâs disappointing that it stopped workingâ my cat sadly starved for 8+ hours while I was at work.
My cat eats on a schedule, 6 times a day. I work a 10-6 so Iâm not always home to give him his 1pm & 5pm meal. The timer does go all the way to 48 hours, but from my observation the ice block is already warm after 8 hours and my home room temperature is about 70°F.
To the person who suggested putting a bell on the cover: GENIUS! And thank you for the idea. I used two of my cats bell toys and taped it on the top so he can hear it when it opens.
Holding the food for 4-8 hours is no problem, I canât really speak on anything longer since I havenât tried or had a reason to. The food stays fresh and isnât dried out. I add two ice cubes to the side where the food stays longer, just for a peace of mind!
Works great, my cat learned how to use it the first day I left him home alone. The sound of the bell helps. Great value!!

My cat is happy
Now he gets fed at 2am. This small very simple feeder works perfectly. No difficult and hard to see dials to set like on an automatic feeder. It opens right on time and can be used for either wet or dry food. I ordered the 2 metal trays that fit perfectly and an extra ice pack. Now we Don’t have to get up at 2 am. I will purchase a small bell to attach to the lid so he can hear when it opens. My sweet Oscar took to it right away and my son used this when we went away. I tried 3 different feeders before this one….it is sturdy and simple.

Helpful but not purrfect!
I purchased this auto feeder for my two cats to eat from when I am away for a short time. PROS: easy to use, ice pack (included) works fine for wet food within several hours, snap-out trays arre easy to clean, tamper proof, good for two cats. CONS: NO OFF/STOP button, you must remove the battery to shut off. The timer is set with a dial, so it is hard to make the two doors open at exactly the same time. One time I forgot the battery and, of course, nothing opened (my fault, but just one more thing to remember when you use it). In general, I like it, but still can’t believe there is no shut OFF without taking out the battery. A few cons, but works.

Perfect for the weekend!
This product worked great for being away for the weekend! I ordered the metal trays and I refrigerated one portion and froze the other portion. The ice packs were great! It worked perfectly for the cats to have one fresh wet food meal each morning. I love that the food trays are wide so that they donât get whisker fatigue. The countdown dial ticking is quite loud, like a old wall clock, but since Iâm only using them for the weekends I just take the battery out until the next time I use it.

Poorly made lids will ultimately break
So the concept is great. I like that you can get stainless steel inserts for those cats who should not eat out of plastic due to chin acne, etc. However. As photos show, The âhingeâ on the lids consists of a very, very thin connection/kink in the plastic which overtime ultimately will break and the product will be useless. Considering how much one pays for these devices this is truly disappointing. Iâve also attached photos of a comparable Timed pet feeder by petsafe. This unit is much cheaper. It doesnât have the stainless steel Insert options that the catmate does However, now that Cat mate has a eliminated the on /off switch, there really isnât that much difference between the two.(except price!!!) I snapped out the center support so I could fit a cooler pack in the bottom of it. And as you can see this company invests in a steel pin hinge, which is so much more durable than what the catmate model offers. Itâs ridiculous that they make it so chintzy, considering what you pay for these plastic devices. As you can see in the photograph, I had to rig it with duct tape, in order to keep it from ultimately breaking, which of course, eventually it will! Irritating beyond belief!

Helpful for cat on prescription wet diet
This feeder has been a huge help to feed my cat at the proper times for her prescription diet. Before buying it, I went over the reviews of lots of similar products, as well as the ones for this. This is what I found about the common concerns with this products:
1. When using wet food, it is better to chill the plate before putting it in the feeder, as well as using the ice packs. The metal inserts are very useful as they freeze quickly.
2. The ice pack last about 8 hours at room temp (20-25 *C). It does maintain wet food acceptably moist even without pre-chilling the plate, as reviewed by my cat. Food on a regular plate only keeps the moisture up to 3 h.
3. The timer is accurate, although difficult to set at a specific time because of its design. The noise is minimal, and does not dings.
4. The battery needs to be replaced every [TBD]. Iâm using a Duracell AA, and Iâll update this after I get a sense of the time. I saw complaints of the feeder not opening. Iâm guessing that it could be because of the battery loosing power, not because the mechanism is stuck. The dial continues to turn right, even after reaching the 0 mark, so it is highly unlikely that it would stay stuck under normal battery levels and a healthy lid spring.
5. Because the feeder does not dings, it could be difficult to train a cat that is not that food oriented. I added two bells for each lid so it rigs once the pop up. It does help.
So far, we are very happy with this feeder as it allow us to keep up with my cat needs

Mi gato me despertaba todos los dÃas a las 6 de la mañana para que le diera comida húmeda.
Compré este cacharro por el precio y para probar si dejaba de despertarme y para cuando me fuera más de ocho horas de casa. Hace su función, se abre a las horas que le pongas y mantiene la comida fresca como si se la pusieras en el momento. Tardó en adaptarse al ruido del comedero automático, ya que al principio no se pispaba de cuándo se abrÃa.
Conclusión, después de medio mes, el gato ya no me despierta y se ha adaptado a las horas que se suele abrir o más bien al ruido que produce la tapita cuando se abre (yo se lo pongo pegado a una pared para que suene al abrirse) Es fácil de limpiar (he puesto las piezas desmontables en el lavavajillas varias veces y aún no se han borrado los números de las tapitas)
Nota: recomiendo comprar las placas de hielo para tener de recambio.

Colpisce la semplicità del suo funzionamento. Un timer meccanico a molla, nessuna batteria, silenzioso e con tempi di apertura fino a 48 ore. Veramente comodo e carino a vedersi e utilissimo con le doppie vaschette lavabili in lavastoviglie. Si può usare sia per il secco e soprattutto per l’umido, che con l’ausilio del suo ghiacciolo termico, tipo celletta frigo da spiaggia, riesce a mantenere umido il cibo……umido.

Très satisfaite de notre achat, cette gamelle programmable change notre vie ! Nous lâavons reçue hier et tout de suite testée, résultat : notre vieille minette a pu manger à 6h00 dimanche matin et nous avons pu faire la grasse matinée⦠quel bonheur de ne pas devoir se lever à lâaube ! Le minuteur fonctionne très bien, attention toutefois il a 30 minutes de décalage donc en tenir compte lors de la programmation (faire un test avant). Notre minette lâa tout de suite adoptée et nous aussi ! On recommande ce produit qui a très bon rapport qualité/prix. Les gamelles se lavent facilement et le pack réfrigéré est très utile également.
