Best one weâve tried
After TPLO surgery, we were sent home with a rigid cone from the vet and it just wasnât working. We tried several donuts, donuts with the shield, comfy cone, and this one. This one worked best for us.PROS:-Visibility. Although it does get beat up, allowing peripheral vision helped our dog tolerate wearing this, as opposed to the vetâs cone and the comfy cone.-Rigidity. It was flexible enough to sleep in and if he did hit the side of his crate turning around, he didnât automatically get stuck. It was rigid enough that it didnât rest on the top of his head or fold over. It kept its shape and did what it was supposed to do.-Neoprene neck was comfortable and didnât irritate his skin.-Collar loops allowed us a secure fit and prevented him from removing the cone. It also allowed us to have the cone closure slightly loose so if we needed to remove it for cleaning we could just unbuckle his collar and slide it over his head. We didnât have to unvelcro the cone every time.- Removable extension piece. Our dog has a shorter muzzle and doesnât need the extra length many cones have. Having only the length necessary to do the job makes it easier for dogs to maneuver. However, the extension piece would be necessary for dogs with longer muzzles, so including it was a good move by the manufacturer. With donuts it only took a day for him to figure out how to get to his incision.CONS: Really the only con is that the clear plastic will get beat up very quickly. If we had this one from the start Iâd probably replace it each week, even though it never actually broke. But given the peace of mind we have with him wearing it and his comfort level overall with it, I wouldnât mind doing just that. Each dog will have their own preference when it comes to recovery collars, and what they need will vary depending on procedure and breed. But this one is worth a try, especially if your dog is going to be wearing a cone for a few weeks. For us, it was well worth the money.

Didnât last
This e-collar is nice and fit good but boy it didnât last long. It probably lasted 5 days. Cheap material gets cheap results ð¤·ââï¸

Great cone for dog
Initially I had trouble with it because my dog would wiggle himself out of the cone, but making it a bit tighter and more fitting around his neck worked well. I didn’t end up needing to use a collar (which would’ve been difficult to use because my dog squirms around a lot). This worked great at the vet! We needed something to keep him from turning around and trying to bite since he gets nervous around other people and dogs. This helped us give him get his vet checkup and vaccines smoothly!

Runs small, hard to get off and on
My advice-size up!The cone is shipped coiled up, so is hard to align the Velcro for fastening on a moving dog, you definitely want this loose enough to slip over your dog’s head.Though that will also pose a problem, since it’s so hard to get to the dog collar you’d use to secure a loose cone. The loops to put a collar through are housed between the cone and the dog’s neck, instead of below the bottom edge of the cone, so it’s impossible to get a collar undone without undoing the Velcro holding the cone together.Maybe if the cone was really loose at the base, opening the Velcro wouldn’t be necessary, maybe you could squeeze your fingers into the base of the cube to get to the collar and unfasten? I wouldn’t know, since the cone runs small, and the loosest seeing barely fit my dog’s neck.PositivesMy dog seemed to appreciate the transparent plastic, though it didn’t decrease how much he runs into things.I really like that you can adjust the depth of this collar. My dog needed the extra depth to completely prevent him from getting to his incision.

Packaging is awful
Cone is durable and big enough for my large breed dog, however the packaging this came was beyond frustrating. It was rolled up as tight as possible and Saran wrapped multiple times now making it next to impossible to straighten out without curling like a ribbonâ¦.

Right length so canât reach back legs
It is a little tight around the base for such a furry, large dog. But it is the right length!! So has been a lifesaver as he canât reach the back of his rear legs.

Works as intended but isn’t going to last long
For short-term needs this will work just fine. The extra long cone guarantees that your dog will not lick his or her paws. There are a couple of cons though. The big one is the very strong Velcro that holds this thing together. The Velcro is very difficult to pull apart when this needs to be removed. I have one dog that runs from this and he’s not even the one wearing it. If you have a dog adverse to really loud noises this will never work for that dog. He’ll just freak him out every time you try to take it off. Also, the outside of the plastic is peeling like there’s a coating on it and I’ve already got one crack in the plastic. That said it just has to hold together a couple more days and then I can put this one away.

This one works!
This cone collar was the very best out of 6 different collar styles we tried! We have a 60-lb Bernedoodle we have nicknamed Hurricane Ollie, and he has defeated every collar until this one. We tried rigid, soft, inflatable, combos, etc. and he still was able to get to his sore front foot and neuter recovery zone. But finally–this one works for him–mainly because of the extra reach when the zipper section is added. (The zipper seems good quality and easily removes for eating.) Also, the velcro is substantial enough for a strong but adjustable closure. The plastic is very clear and opens up his view, which I can tell he likes. The binding strip and softness of the collar’s edges means fewer painful crashes into my legs. And finally, the neck edge is soft and has loops for attaching to his regular collar so the cone collar does not pull off in spite of Ollie being–well–Hurricane Ollie. It’s easy to put on and take off as well. I just ordered a spare!
