Years ago I had a electric can open that did last for years , hope this does also.About a year ago From Amazon I bought two of the small battery can openers , those only lasted maybe 6 mos., and more batteries! Plus I also have about 3 different types of hand can openers that get stuck in the drawers!!Iâm older now and wanted a can opener I can depend on, and that is easy toUse.I Think this Bella is pretty good.This is lite very weight, not heavy like myOld one.Easy to clean . I ordered black it goes with my stainless , so far this is opening cans easy. Although if you have a tall can toOpen, this opener is not tall enough, or you can stand it on a tall box, book!!!Sometimes the magnet doesnât catch the lid !! But if I hold the opener higher it will after opening.I paid $17.99 a couple of weeks ago, now this is $13.99,, Iâm not happy about that!

Doesn’t break and can open 1 gallon cans
I have this for a long time now and just waiting for it to break so I can get a new one but still operational. Blade and motor still working. During the holidays opening big cans, I just hand held it and have the can rotate on the counter. I have a heavy duty crank manual can opener for backup but haven’t used it yet. Ordering more for my kids that moved out for college dorm.

My old can opener just wasn’t cutting it anymore, so I needed a replacement. I live with a semi-Neanderthal savage, so I wasn’t enthused about investing a ton in a can-opener, but still it had to be replaced. I stumbled upon the reviews for this make/model and decided this would be the one. I have to admit, I am very pleased with its performance.After aligning the can and piercing it with the lever, the rest of the operation is auto-magic: it proceeds around the entire can and then automagically stops when the can lid has been completely cut. If you are using a “typical” sized can or smaller, you can walk away and the process is hands-free until you remove the can. However, larger cans (like a 28oz can of diced tomatoes, for example), you will need to support that can or the whole kit-n-caboodle with topple over.The cutting mechanism is easily removed for a quick cleaning and drying, which is ideal to keep things as clean as possible.There is a knife sharpener on the back of the can opener. I was under the impression that it would be an electrically-operated sharpener, but it is not. Rather, it is a manual sharpener that is fixed in place: you have to do all the work. I used one of the Neanderthal savage’s knives to test this out, and it provided a rough sharpening that I wouldn’t necessarily recommend. There are better sharpening options out there that I would use rather than wreck a good knife. With that said, I bought this as a can opener, not a knife sharpener, so the knife sharpening ability, while it would have been nice if it was of a higher quality, it isn’t really a factor in my opinion that this is an overall excellent can opener that I highly recommend.

Works for a while before itâs design kills it
The blade constantly gets stuck on the mechanism that turns the can, causing the motor to get damaged every time that happens. I had mine for about three months and itâs already dead. Thereâs no access either so even if youâre handy, you canât fix it on your own. The knife sharpener on the back is practically useless unless you have a way to stablize the stupid thing, which is not built into the design. The little rubber legs that keep the whole thing upright come out just when you pick it up, and the cord storage is the entire base of the design, which is a waste. No stablility, breaks easily, and just poor design overall. Wish I could get my money back.
