A little confusing, but works like a charm!
When I got this automatic cat feeder, it was a bit of a head-scratcher at first. I thought I could set the feeding times in a 24-hour cycle, like from 10 AM to 8 AM the next day, but it turns out the feeder sets the times in order from morning to evening. After some fiddling, I figured it out, and now it’s smooth sailing. The rotation works great, I got to see it in action when testing it out with my cat. Had to be out of the house for a minute and when I came back, my cat was happily munching on his food! Overall, I’m pretty happy with this feeder, even if it took a bit of time to get used to.

A Horrible Product & Waste of Time
I purchased two of these feeders in anticipation of an overnight trip. I have two cats, and one will eat the other’s food if given the opportunity, so it was important for me to have separate feeders. I also feed them often, so the six meal option seemed appropriate. But, HOLY COW are these feeders difficult to program! My boyfriend and I simultaneously tried setting just a few “test” feeding times on each feeder, and we both “worked” at programming them for well over a half hour with absolutely no success. The buttons are difficult to press, there is no “back” button if you make a mistake, and the time sequences kept jumping around so they would be out of order! There was no rhyme nor reason to the functioning of these pieces of junk. When I finally managed to get one time programmed on one of the feeders, it didn’t even open at the designated time! These are just completely useless. I was actually really angry by the time I finished struggling. I don’t know how anyone can possibly program them successfully. I returned them both and asked a friend to check in on my cats and feed them while I was gone. Maybe I received deficient products, but BOTH of them had the same troubles. Don’t waste your time. Keep shopping.

Worked well the first few weeks, butâ¦.????
I thought my prayers had been answered with this auto feeder for my always ravenous, diabetic cat! however, after slogging through the challenging programming, it worked well for a few weeks and then certain meals portions just stopped opening, while others would. I came home today to discover that my cat only got the first two meals during the night ( 11pm and 3am) and then none during the day, 4 missed portions total! Prior to this, it was usually only the noon meal that would falter, yet not always.Honestly, I would almost rather have the entire unit malfunction as at least this would make sense! I will give this a few more days- perhaps my cat just slept through 4 meals, but I have 3 other cats and my diabetic cat mysteriously knows when itâs time to eat a few minutes before the next meal opens- so this is extremely unlikely! Grrrâ¦.Iâm pretty sure that itâs back to the drawing board and these things arenât exactly cheap!!!

The feeder itself functions as it should. It is extremely quiet when turning. It has 2 faint beeps when it has completed its rotation between meals. But trying to open it up to set the time and fill the feeder is difficult if you have mild arthritis.There is a little clear cap or cover in the middle, protecting the buttons and digital readout. It does not turn easily at all, not for me, anyway. The large lid covering the food is also not the easiest to remove. I suppose those would be good features for a dog feeder if you have a food driven dog, but I don’t think you need a Fort Knox-esque feeder for a cat.My Cat Mate auto feeders have much easier to operate lids. None of my cats have managed to pry those lids off. They are noisier when rotating between feedings than this one, though. Not that my cats care all that much.The feeder takes 3 AA batteries. In the directions, it mentions plugging in the power supply and unplug the feeder when not in use. There is no plug. It is battery powered only.Nowhere in the directions does it mention how to turn the unit off. I use these feeders on the weekends and shut them off during the week to save batteries. I cannot find how to do so with this feeder.The big Achilles heel with all of these auto feeders is the ice packs. This feeder has slightly larger ice packs than the Cat Mate but I don’t think they last any longer. Not by much, anyway. If you are feeding canned food, I think the ice packs work for maybe 8 hours. Any longer than that is iffy. So if you are gone for the day, these feeders are fine. But if you want them to feed your cats wet food over a weekend, they are an epic FAIL thanks to their feeble ice packs.Why can’t the ice packs be made with dry ice?
