I will say I fully disassembled it to wash it when I first got it. Now I just wipe out the storage container and shoot where the food falls out of with a wet cloth and I wash the dish with soap. I took everything apart initially with a screw driver because I wanted to thoroughly clean and dry it. This probably was not necessary.
I don’t usually travel but I often spend a night away, come home from work late, sleep in, etc. These habits made it impossible for my cat to have a regular eating schedule and left me often asking my roommate to feed him. If you’re a better person/cat owner and can adhere to an actual schedule, good on you and you probably don’t need this. If you’re like me and sometimes want to hang out with coworkers after closing up at your job at 10pm or want to not be woken up by a persistent, hungry cat at 5am, get this.
My cat is on all dry food right now, which I don’t prefer but he does. I was feeding 3 tablespoons at 8am and 3 tablespoons at 8pm. As I’ve said, these times weren’t rigid and it left my cat irritable and hangry. I have programmed this for 4 small meals (2am- 1 tablespoon, 8am- 2 tablespoons, 2pm- 1 tablespoon, 8pm- 2 tablespoons), feeding him the same amount but evenly spaced out over the course of 24hrs. I started with 2 meals at the same times I was manually feeding him, (3 portions at both 8am and 8pm) but I noticed 12hrs in between meals led to hanger and bad behavior. I think 4 meals is the max amount you can program. 1 portion on this machine is 1 tablespoon and I have not gone over 3 portions but it does go higher (I think at least up to 4). He seems much more content throughout the day, he isn’t gorging himself since he’s getting smaller meals, and his moods are more regulated. Plus I have peace of mind knowing my cat is always fed the right amount at the right time. It works great, it’s easy to program and make adjustments.
I just hope it works for a while and that if it does stop working I can notice it before my cat is too underfed. Initially I stayed up to ensure it worked right after programming it, paranoid that he wouldn’t get fed. Thus far, it has dispensed food exactly as programmed. If you’re away and worried perhaps a camera would be good to ensure everything is working, but I have had 0 problems.

Good unit
This is a very good feeder. Easy to put together and program. You just need to spend some time “tweaking” the serving count for each meal to formulate a consistent feeding schedule. The food holder is good sized — larger than our previous feeder that just failed. However, unlike our previous feeder, you can just twist open the lid and pour the kibble into the container. (With our previous feeder, you needed to remove the container, invert it to fill, then remount the counter by turning the unit upside down to twist-lock it. Manageable, but not as easy as this one.) The unit is in 2 pieces: the feeder bowl that slides onto the unit and the base unit itself. The bowl, food container and lid can be separated and placed in a dishwasher. I started using ours without the recommended initial wash and the cats didn’t mind. The display is easy to read and the control panel is easy to use after a quick review of the instructions — very simple and intuitive interface. The lid holds a desiccant pack (that comes with the unit) to try and help keep the kibble from going stale. I have 2 meal cycles programmed: 4:30am and 4:30pm.
Marked down a star only because I thought the feeder bowl should be a little larger. Very happy with this purchase and so are the cats.

Great cheap auto feeder!
I have recently bought this automatic cat feeder, and it has been a splendid addition to our everyday schedule. The setup proved to be incredibly easy, thanks to clear instructions that streamlined the process of setting up feeding schedules promptly. Changing the schedule is a breeze with the user-friendly buttons, allowing me to easily give my cat a meal with just a simple touch. It’s ideal for times when I’m away, guaranteeing that my cat is fed punctually with no trouble. My feline companion thoroughly enjoys the feeder, appearing notably eager during mealtime as it consistently dispenses the ideal portion of food. The storage compartment is also a notable highlight. It features a generous capacity, allowing me to store plenty of dry food without the need for frequent refills. This also assists in maintaining the freshness of food and lowers the risk of unexpectedly running out. The base is pretty sturdy and can’t be moved by my cat. In general, the feeder has significantly enhanced the ease of life, providing a sense of convenience and assurance. If you are in need of a dependable and user-friendly automatic feeder, I highly endorse this cheap particular one!

I use this full time now.
I have a cat the upchucks at random when i just fill a big bowl and let him eat whenever he wants. I had to cut his food intake down quite a bit. He eats 5 to 6 meals a day. I put his portion to either 1, 2 & 3. He is senior cat and he solid not a rollie pollie for indoor cat. This feeder is fantastic the portion that set are perfect! It’s really easy to set up the times and portions. It’s worth it buy it! Super easy to clean. Not easy to knock this around break. The size of feeder is perfect.

The mechanics of this feeder are working fine, however the digital programming is inconvenient.
Upon the initial setup, I accidentally set the incorrect time and have been unable to adjust it, which also means that I cannot adjust for daylight savings.
I was able to set the timer accordingly so they dispensed at the required time of day.
I would like to make adjustments, but I have misplaced the instructions and I cannot find anything online.
In hindsight, I wish I had purchased a feeder with an app feature.

We have busy schedules, and it is reassuring to know that out cmkitty has his portions at a timely and fixed manner. He always knows when it’s time to eat (literally 2 minutes waiting before food is served) and it takes away the stress of him over eating. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
