Possum Proof
We have a stray cat that shows up every fall, and leaves in February each year. Feeding him is a challenge as opossums steal his food when weâre not home. Programming this feeder so it feeds him only during daylight hours fixes most of the problem. Itâs design also makes it impossible for the opossums to tip it over, or get into it. The only negative thing I have to say is that the membrane switches used for programming do not work as well as they do on most other products. Itâs not that big of an issue as most people would program it only once.

PRACTICAL
We rarely leave our fluffy 14 pound child alone, and if we do, itâs not for more than a few hours. Unfortunately, we had a wedding that required a bit of driving, so we purchased this feeder. It was easy to set up and program to manage her feeding. The cooling pack worked well for keeping the raw dog food fresh. The next day, there were no issues cleaning it, and she ate it all.

Works the way it’s supposed to, but not for my dog
Amazon Basics Automatic Pet Feeder with Cooling Pack is a great idea, and I thought it might be a good idea for my medium sized dog when I’m running late. Took me a bit to figure out how to program it, but once I figured it out, it wasn’t that hard to set it. But I guess there’s a reason they showed a toy poodle in the photos. One compartment isn’t really big enough for my Springer Spaniel’s dinner so I’d have to set it for 2 back to back portions–not a problem since he inhales his food and he’s normally got a slow feeder. So everything worked fine–except the 2nd time I tried it, he decided it was a food puzzle and started knocking it around to get to the food. It’s plastic and lightweight, so while, I got him to stop, I wouldn’t trust him alone. Luckily, my kid has a cat and it works great for her, especially if she wants to leave for a day or two. It’s easy to take apart and clean and the mechanism is quiet enough that it didn’t freak her cat out. The cooling pad means you can leave wet food in it for maybe half a day–I’d avoid wet for weekend feedings because it doesn’t stay cold that long.

There are better products out there that are rechargable and easier to program. This one feels a little cheaper. It’ll do if you’re tight on money but if you’re looking for a good one I’d say you can skip on this one

Handy pet feeder
I already have an automated pet feeder for dry food for my cat, but I was interested in this one, because of the ice pack. There are times when I won’t be home to give him his canned wet food, and this device peaked my interest. It was easy to set up, and easy to program the feeding times. So far, I only have used one of the compartments because I’m only allowing for small amounts of wet food. The ice pack takes up a lot of room in my freezer, so I only use it for those times when I will be using the feeder. It’s also easy to take apart and clean. The only drawback is that it takes regular AA batteries, instead of having a usb rechargeable cord.

Update:I’m at the airport to head home and checked the cameras. I was grateful to see the Robot Feeder Gods felt my cat was worthy of food today and the lid turned.Since I’m not okay with my little dude getting fed sporadically (36 hours since the last feeding…??? Holy hell…), this sadistic device is getting returned.Original Review:I received what appears to be a newer version of this. I set the current (military) time, then put in some practice times (can only do 5 min increments), and they went great. The day of my 48 hr work trip, I selected 2 feedings/day (had up to 5 as an option), and put in 6:00 and 18:00. Day 1 went great and my cat seemed to be fascinated by and love the feeder. It rotated exactly as it should have. But yesterday morning I checked the kitchen camera and the lid hadn’t moved since the night before. He still had a few pieces of kibble left from dinner, but not enough to get him through breakfast, let alone dinner. I’d hoped maybe at 6pm it would turn, but nope.I feel so horrible for my cat. He’s such a good, sweet boy and this is the first time I’ve left him alone. He always comes with me on every vacation, but we’re tent campers. A few months back, we stayed in someone’s home overnight to babysit and their kids refused to leave him alone in his room even after several talks. My cat clearly has made a negative association with other houses as a result, because when I took him to my friends’ house last weekend to visit so he’d feel safe when I left him there this week, he hissed and grumbled from the second he saw we were entering a house until we exited the door. That was 3 hours, even with him getting to sit out in the porch overlooking a beautiful garden with lots of birds and squirrels, and me giving him ear rubs and treats that he was clearly enjoying. So I figured he’d feel better just staying at home. Now I feel like a horrible person for stupidly trusting this device would work. I hope to god none of my flights are delayed, because I need to get my little buddy food asap.

Es moderno, pero sin dar mucho el cante. Funciona con pilas, algo un tanto anticuado/poco ecológico, salvo que se usen pilas recargables.Ademas, incluye una de esas bolsas congelables para mantener la comida fresca durante más tiempo. Es un mecanismo bastante manual, pero práctico.En resumen, es un buen comedero eléctrico para tu pequeña mascota (para perros grandes de queda pequeño), a un precio bastante razonable. Lo recomiendo!

The build quality on this feeder is quite high, and you get all you need – the cooling pack is a really good size and lasts well, and I tested it over a few days with wet and dry food alternating, and it works really well for one cat. It strips down easily for cleaning and the plastic it’s made from is solid and substantial. The manual is comprehensive and well written and I had no problem with the display or controls. Considering the quality and ease of use, I think this is good value.

Tuttavia, ho trovato che il funzionamento a batterie può essere un po’ scomodo, specialmente perché le batterie non sono incluse e dovete ricordarvi di cambiarle regolarmente.La possibilità di lavarlo in lavastoviglie è un grande vantaggio, ma il coperchio antimanomissione non sembra essere così efficace come speravo; il mio gatto riesce a sollevarlo facilmente. In generale, è un buon prodotto, ma ci sono alcuni aspetti che potrebbero essere migliorati per renderlo davvero eccezionale.

Ayant acquis et utilisé d’autres systèmes de nourrissage, automatiques ou programmables, je dois dire que celui-ci m’a très favorablement impressionné. La qualité de fabrication saute aux yeux, tant au niveau des matériaux utilisés, que de l’électronique embarquée. Ce dernier point étant trop souvent, dans mes précédentes expériences, la pierre d’achoppement. C’est un élément sur lequel les fabricants chinois ont trop tendance à faire des économies. Tout particulièrement l’afficheur LCD, dont la mauvaise qualité (je suis modéré dans mes propos…) rend d’autres systèmes rapidement inutilisables. Ici, c’est clair et parfaitement lisible. Les boutons donnent l’impression de commandes haptiques.Même la documentation est parfaitement lisible et compréhensible.à l’usage, je craignais que l’exiguïté relative des ouvertures permettant l’accès à la nourriture pose un problème à mes chats très susceptibles, mais il n’en est rien et ils nettoient eux-mêmes chaque compartiment jusqu’à la dernière croquette ou bouchée de pâtée. Je n’ai pas vraiment eu le loisir de tester l’élément refroidissant (quatre bandes de réactif réfrigérables, mais utilisant déjà un système comparable pour moi-même (tour de cou pour l’été (pas celui-ci !)), je sais que celui-ci est efficace.Mon unique doute concerne la durée de vie des accus (trois AAA). Je ne suis pas convaincu que ce choix représente le meilleur, mais étant donné que la distribution ne va pas au-delà d’une semaine, le risque de panne d’alimentation se trouve réduit. Je verrai à l’usage si le remplacement des accus/piles pose un réel problème de fréquence ; j’amenderai mon commentaire en conséquence.Seul regret, à ce stade et qui semble commun à tous les systèmes automatisés : la difficulté, voire l’impossibilité, de contrôler après coup, sa programmation. Ce n’est pas rédhibitoire, mais c’est une commodité dont j’aurais aimé pouvoir profiter.
