Skeptical of Alvababy’s Quality For the Price You Pay? – I was too! 🙂
As someone who, when making my first Alvababy diaper purchase, was highly skeptical of the quality of these cloth diapers, let me tell you how AWESOME they turned out to be!!! I was lucky to have a friend lend me a variety of cloth diapers to try out when I was debating cloth diapering my little one. Out of the multiple brands and styles she gave me to try I never really found a cloth diaper I was in love with or that fit my little one perfectly. Also most of the cloth diapers I tried were on the upper end of the price scale, which was intimidating since with a little one there are already lots of expenses. After googling and reading Amazon cloth diaper reviews, I decided to give Alvababy cloth diapers a try. I wasn’t expecting much due to their reasonable, low cost. I figured for the price I paid for the six diapers in a pack I would be happy if they lasted six months. Well, I have been using my Alvababy diapers for seven months now and they honestly look almost as they did when I first got them! There has been some minor staining on the inner fabric of the diaper, but that I know is due to our hard water and washer and when possible, I hang them out in the sun and let it do its bleaching magic. These diapers are the only diaper that truly fits my little one. There have only been a handful of times when the diapers have leaked when my baby was laying on their stomach or had a major blowout that came quickly. I love that the diapers are easily adjustable and can grow with my little one. One of the diapers seemed to be a tiny bit larger in fit than the other diapers in the pack, but it still fits fine and I don’t have any issues with it. The elastic around the leg holes is also a good fit on my little one. It’s not too tight that it is uncomfortable, but yet it doesn’t allow for leakage. My Alavababy cloth diapers get used every other day in my diaper rotation (with other Alvababy diapers of course). They have been washed every other day for six months following the cloth diaper washing: soak and rinse in cold water then washed in hot with cloth diaper safe detergent. I dry the inserts and hang dry the diaper shells. The diapers have held up AMAZINGLY! I haven’t have any rips or tears around the snap area that get buttoned and pulled apart so many times. Since these are pocket diapers the pocket opening also gets a lot of use. It is easy to insert the bamboo inserts into the diaper and I feel the insert fits in nicely and lay flat. On a few of my diapers I have noticed that the elastic opening has gotten a tad bit wider, due to putting in and taking out inserts. The bamboo inserts are super absorbent. Each diaper comes with two inserts, but I only use one during the day, and two for nighttime diapering. The outer shell of the diaper is very waterproof. I haven’t had leaks from a soaking insert (because who wants a leaky front or back of a diaper?). The outer material of the diaper has held up and hasn’t faded even with washing in hot water and hanging outside in the sun. I was also drawn to these diapers because of the variety of cute designs. When I purchased this pack I got each diaper for under $7. Knowing what I do know about how well these diapers have done for my little one, this was a steal! If you are unsure of cloth diapering and overwhelmed by the price, give Alvababy cloth diapers a try. They are user friendly, hold up through all stages of potty and poopy from your little one, and are affordable and adorable!

Really fantastic!
I was really pleasantly surprised by these nappies. I first bought a single alva to see how I felt about trying alvas again, as they are they are often called “china cheapies”. I tried alvas six years ago when my first was still in nappies, and I wasn’t too impressed with quality and sold them on.I got a single nappy to try and see if there had been any changes/improvements. And yes! They are so much better. I feel like they’re now using higher quality materials. I liked it enough I bought this six pack.I have used cloth nappies for two babies, and over the years have tried most brands available. I’m picky about fit, quality and washability. Fit obviously depends somewhat on the baby, what fit my short, chunky thighed son doesn’t always work as well for my longer/slimmer daughter.I tend to go with simplicity, and for the first nine months of both children’s lives I used prefolds, flats and covers. I like to buy from Green Mountain Diapers (one of the best companies IMHO, check them out if you want excellent cloth wipes too!) and Nicki’s diapers (also fab). I like organic, I like easy to wash etc. However, both my babies walked at 9 months, and as soon as walking started they lost all patience for me using a two-part nappy system. So I switched to pockets. I can just get them on a squirmy, impatient baby much faster. I also prefer pockets with older babies because the fleece inner makes it easier to spray off solid food poops (and I hate liners, so don’t want to just add a fleece/flushable liner to my flats/prefolds). Plus, AIO’s are easier for being out and about, grab and go and all.Anyways, these nappies wash well. The pul is good quality, as are the snaps and elastics. They’re fine to stuff (opening is wide/stretchy enough). I personally hate microfiber, yes, it absorbs fast but compression leaks are an issue and, frankly, two thin microfiber inserts really don’t hold much either. I stuff all my pockets with my GMD prefolds or pad-folded flats. If she starts doing super floody pees as a toddler, I may pop the microfiber on top of my prefolds/flats and then stuff the pocket for absorption speed, we’ll see. Also, quick tip, Walmart has cotton ‘flour sack towels’ and it’s like 5 or 8 dollars for (I think) a six pack. If you need extra absorption but don’t want to/can’t afford to spend a ton of money (on boosters/prefolds/flats) they’re a fantastic option to pad fold and tuck under the microfiber insert!Either way, these are an excellent addition to my nappy stash. Also, for amazon users, I have also bought the mama koala nappies and a quick comparison: the MK’s are great nappies. Quality is about the same as the alva’s. However, I dislike the fit of the MK’s. I’m able to get a good fit with most any nappy at this stage, but I find mama koala to have slightly less stretchy pul (not the elastics, the actual nappy fabric), and as a result it’s a bit trickier to get a good fit. It’s completely possible, just takes a mite more time. The wings are shorter (on the MK’s), which is a style I like, but because of the lack of stretch/give in the PUL, they fit a tad smaller. For example, my husband struggles with it (but he’s fine with all of the others we have). And for that reason I much prefer the Alva’s. Alvas have longer wings, but also the PUL has give/stretch in it so it just goes on more easily. If you have a little bit more money to spend, I also highly recommend Nicki’s pocket nappies, 12.95 for one, and fantastic quality (the fleece inner on them is fantastic and more stay dry as it’s a thicker ‘polar’ fleece). I’d say they’re the next most economical/affordable ‘big’ brand. Also free shipping over ten dollars (I am in NO way affiliated with Nicki’s, it’s just nice to give info to people doing the same thing!).Happy nappying people!Oh, I haven’t mentioned prints, these are super fun! Yay! I’m completely in love with the tiger/lion one, so cute on!!!
