Very easy to set up and program
I purchased this automatic feeder to help me transition my two cats, both 9 months old, to wet cat food. With this, I could put the wet food down in the morning and leave for work knowing that if they didn’t eat the wet, they would have dry food pour out 4 hours later, and then 4 hours after that. I was very pleased to come home to an empty wet food bowl, and a full dry food bowl. I have it set now to drop small quantities of grain free dry a couple times a day in case my babies are still hungry. So, that’s why I got it, and it served it purpose, transitioning my cats to moisture rich wet cat food.So, the product itself is great. You can set as many as 4 meals a day, and you can choose the specific times for the meals to dispense. It doesn’t have to be like, every 4 hours, or every 6 hours; you can set a 10am, 2pm, and 1am meal if you want. So that flexibility in meal scheduling is fantastic.The clock on the feeder is digital, and programming is really easy. You can plug it in, which is ideal for me, but it also operates on batteries so if the power cuts out, the auto-feeder remains on and meals dispense as scheduled.The only thing I don’t like, but it is not a deal breaker by any stretch, is that it dispenses food “measured” in grams. I say “measured” because it does vary some because size of the kibble and quality of the kibble influences how much weight in kibble is dispensed. The grain free kibble I feed my cats is small and heavier than cheaper foods, so it is dispensed in something closer to 13-14 gram increments instead of 10 gram increments. The other thing about their choice to dispense in grams is I had to figure out how many grams were in the portion size I wanted dispensed. Both my cats, if fed dry exclusively, should get 2/3 of a cup of this kibble a day. So I had to measure how many grams to a 1/3 cup, and then measure out how many grams was dispensed for each program, etc… Again, once you figure it out and you’ve programmed the feeder to your liking, you never have to think about it again.I’ve only owned this for a week, but it’s been a week of not even having to think about it. It does its job, is easy to use, and with any luck will last for a long time. With any luck, it will perform as well when I need to be away on the occasional overnight business trip.

Meow! I bought the WESTLINK 6L Automatic Pet Feeder last Autumn because by the time I arrived home from work it was dark and when I fed my two feral cats possum were trying to get it on the action! Those possum do not show themselves when it is light outside and I figured I could program this so the cats could eat while it was still light outside. It did the trick. Cats were fed and I was no longer feeding wildlife which was a cost savings.You can program up to 6 meals a day at the time you deem fit, choose the amount of food and record a message. The recording quality wasnât the best though I doubt it really matters to my cats, it gets their attention and that is good by me. It holds 6 pounds of food and the batteries last forever (I have only changed them once in 9 months). It dispenses kibbles reliably in the amount I programmed.An additional benefit was the knowledge that when I was out of town this past winter and our area had two weeks of snow that shut the city down the feeder was doing its job even when the sitter could not make it to my home. Ironically the cold drove vermin into the garage where they had no clue who was awaiting their arrival… I did not have to worry after all considering how fat those feral cats were when I returned home!Initially I worried that raccoons, being the masked bandits they are, would try to break into the food chamber. Until this spring this was not a problem for a couple reasons. I dispense smalls meals throughout the day and I place it where cats can jump up to though other critters cannot easily climb onto plus I have it partially protected in an old kitchen cabinet.Well my precautions kept the possum at bay although this spring a skinny raccoon sniffed his way into my garage and tore it up! It was completely taken apart, the components spread all around and the food chamber cleaned out. None of the parts were broken or cracked so I put it back together, hit the manual feed button and the prerecorded message announced time to eat as it dispensed food!I temporarily barricaded it with some boards while I figured out what to do. Sure enough that raccoon returned though was limited in his theft by my barricade. To solve my problem I bought a five gallon bucket and lid, cut an opening to allow the bowl to stick out, padded the inside with old carpet grabber strips and placed a couple big cement blocks on the top. It works perfectly! See my pics!As barn cat owners know a hungry cat cannot hunt nearly as well as a fed cat and this contraption has sustained my sweet little working cats through dark, snow and raccoons.

Good feeder, but not very secure/tamper-proof.
Great feeder and easy to use but not so tamper-proof for mischevious pets. I have two cats on a much needed diet, and I travel semi-regularly. This is a god-send for portion control and regular feeding. The alternative was a Goodyear Blimp shaped feline with insecurity issues because I would “free-feed” while I was away. With this feeder, we’re now just down to insecurity issues. That said, my cats are smart when it comes to activities that result in shovelling as many kibbles into their face holes as possible. Didn’t take them long to figure out how to tip this thing over and unleash a feast fit for feline kings. Kibbles were everywhere. The lid is a simple springloaded sliding latch mechanism that holds up to almost now pressure from within (you know, the kind that would arise when the angular momentum of a body of kibbles is subjected to a sudden urge to accelerate at 9.8m/s^2 at an angle perpendiculur to its previously steady state). We tried tape. We tried string. We tried stacking heavy objects all around the thing. Eventually, we just had to build a stand to mount this thing on. As an unexpected positive side effect, with this thing raised about 20″ with no dish to catch the kibbles, the cats now get to enjoy an unexpected shower of kibbles three times a day, much like the Hebrews on their exodus from Egypt. Its fun to watch. But I digress. Plenty of easy-to-use settings and buttons. Great great battery life. Fantastic optional power cord. Needs a sturdier, more secure lid.TL;DR: Good feeder. Any cat not happy with its portion size will find a way to correct their greivance to the detriment of your household’s tidiness.

We have had this for about 6 months now. My cat is a beast when it comes to food! He will eat all of his food, the dogs food and your food! This machine has helped our relationship as he now depends on the feeder and not me 24/7. He will sit there and wait for it and knows what times his meals are! He gets a large meal at 6am, a small snack at 1, large meal at supper and a small snack before we go to bed. He has even lost some weight!The machine works on par! Never had any issues with the food coming out! It is easy to use. Only thing is you have to check how much food is in there once in a while as there is no window on it which isn’t a big deal at all! This is a great cat food dispenser. I will say it was a bit of a learning curve to program it, but the features more than make up for that. I really should have bought this one in the first place instead of the last one that broke on me, even though this one is a bit more expensive. I like that it has two sizes of dispenser mechanisms for small and large kibble, and the manual button to dispense one portion at any time. So far it is still working very reliably, and I would definitely recommend it. The only thing I would change is the lid, as it would be helpful if it were clear so you can notice when the food is getting low more easily. It holds a lot, which can also make it easier to forget about it. I’ve started putting a reminder in my phone so I remember to check the level regularly.

I got this feeder because i was leaving for a month long trip outside the country and thought itd make it easier for my mom to feed my 2 cats when she would come over.It does a great job, super easy to install. I had to grab an extension cord to place it in an ideal spot in my kitchen and just plug it in. You can adjust the time of each feeding which is cool. At first i was having difficulty with portion size? I wasnt sure if the size was changing at all so i just added more times during the day for the food to come out. Some extra features seem to not work but it doesnt bother me at all as long as my cats are fed and they dont seem to add much.Anyways, now i dont stress about forgetting to feed my cats. The bowl is big enough for them to share. My boyfriend’s mom doesnt have the chance to overfeed them. My male cat lost weight!! Which is great cause he was overweight. Now he maintains a nice size and seems more active. They hear the food come out and just blast off lol. The only thing is maybe they feel its too automated? So i buy toys to keep them entertained.
