Great sound, awesome app, good low-profile fit
Sony LinkBuds FitPrice when ordered: $178Sound: 4/5ANC: 3/5Ambient/Awareness Mode: 3.5/5Fit & Comfort: 4/5Controls & Features: 4/5Case: 3/5For me the sound quality is the star of the show here. You have a lot of control over the sound using the customizable EQ, but I didnât even need to touch that. These sounded good out of the box. Out of curiosity, I tried the personal EQ tool in the Sony app that asks you to listen to and compare different sound profiles. That worked excellently, and I just went with the appâs recommendation. The fit is great for my ears: they donât move at all, and they keep a low profile. The case, while very easy to tuck into a pocket, is more slippery than I prefer, but no real complaints about that. The app is greatâIâve really appreciated Sonyâs dedication to updating and improving this headphones app over the years. The only area these earbuds are lacking for me is in the noise cancelling. While the ambient or awareness mode is better than average, the ANC doesnât block as much as Iâd expect at this price level. And worse, the ANC introduces more white noise into the sound than just about any other modern ANC earbuds Iâve tested. Iâm also noticing some fluctuations in the ANC strength level, inconsistently and randomly. That could be my ears, or something that will be fixed in a future firmware update, but Iâve noticed it multiple times. All in all, these are still worth the asking price in my opinion, even with the underperforming ANC. I may end up using these in quieter environments where I donât notice that issue as much, in which case Iâd have no complaints.Overall Grade: B+

Interesting earbuds, good quality
These are some interesting earbuds. Idk quite what I was expecting with these, but they’re not fully any of the things I thought they’d be.The fit looks chic and super compact, which they are, but how they sit in your ear feels… different. They’re not super secure or effortlessly comfy like I thought, but they are light and stay in place well. The sensation is just a bit…off from what I’m used to. Not in a way that I hate or feels like a manufacturing mistake, but more in the way specialty shoes feel odd on your feet when you’re used to your normal footwear. The form of the earbuds and the case is really nice and clearly well thought out. They feel like good (if not excellent) quality, and the same goes for the sound. They sounds really solid, especially with the fancy 360â° thing they run you through during the set up. I get the frustration of some other reviews where that function requires additional subscriptions which to me anyway is NOT worth the additional cost. This smacks of buying 8K TVs when you’re streaming 720p shows all the time. They get you with the fancy thing it CAN do, without that thing being necessarily the realistic daily use of the item. In the time I’ve been using them, the sound quality is average. Is this studio quality? Not at all. But it’s also not a $10 wired string thing that sounds tinny and cheap.Overall, these work. They do what they’re supposed to at a reasonable quality that’s mostly in line with the price. There are some quirks that accompany the design, so my best advice would be to try them in person before purchasing yourself, just to be sure the fit works for you.

Two devices at the same time is a plus
Have had them already for a week and I love them. They are super comfortable in MY ear and donât fall. They don’t fit my wife. Fit is something individual. Already bike with them and they felt secure. I like that are not bulky and I don’t have a steam sticking out of my ear.One of the best features is the ability to connect my iPad and iPhone at the same time. Watching something on the iPad and then answering on the iPhone like nothing.Love the features, the noise canceling, ambient sound, head gestures, pause and ambient sound to have conversations are a plus. The biggest thing for me is the quality of the microphone during conversations. People don’t realize I’m using them even in the windy outdoors.Sound-wise, I have no complaints. I love how they sound and how the app helps you to get the equalizer where you like it. So far I never used them at 100% volume and I love the clarity of the sound (I don’t listen to loud music like heavy metal or hip-hop etc ).

Hard to use, poor ANC, expensive
I was really hopeful that these earbuds from Sony would work out while using at the gym. Unfortunately, the tap feature is hard to use. In addition, the ANC does not work as well as other earbuds I have. I also really hate the case. It is much thicker than an AirPods Pro case and it doesnât fit well in pockets. Finally, the headphones are expensive for the sound quality.

More stealth than ipods, a few quirks are tolerable.
I think we get spoiled by Apple’s quality, but they can lack it too with so few models, so I tried Sony. The sound quality is impressiveâclear music and deep bass. I didnât even need to change the sound settings much. They felt comfortable in my ears and stayed secure, even during long walks. I loved that they connected quickly to my phone and tablet. The app offers lots of settings, so I could adjust things to my liking. The noise canceling (ANC) could be better. It doesnât block all sounds, especially loud background noise like cars or construction. I enjoy using these earbuds to listen to music at home or talk on the phone. If you donât mind the ANC not being perfect, they are worth it for the sound and comfort.

Iâve got tiny ears so I donât have much to say about the âfinsâ (fitting supporters) because they donât fit inside MY ear at all BUT, still very comfortable nonetheless. The fitting supporters would fit someone with maybe average to above average sized ears especially when combined with the extra small ear tips included in the box.The charging case opens like a shell which Iâm not really a big fun of, much prefer the older modelâs case but I do like the dual finish-glossy top and matte bottom. In the case are the designated charging slots for the earbuds along with room for the fins which if you do decide take of the fins, the interior of the case is designed in way that earbuds will still be able to fit inside and charge. Really good design! The sound quality is decent i would say out of the box, but once you utilize the clear bass feature which you can find on the sound connect app, these can sound really good. I put clear bass at +9, lowered the mids by two notches, and bump the highs up 2notches, and for me, that sounds good.Noise cancelling is really good. You can still hear some low frequencies like heavy footsteps and some high frequencies like sirens but they are tuned down very low to the point of ALMOST being non audible. Maybe itâs just me but with anc on that clogged feeling around the eye and noise area is non-existent with these which is great for people who hate that feeling.Ambient mode is impressive. You turn it on and they feel like open earbuds, however the sound does shift once you do so, to more bass and less treble which can be jarring once you turn it off and all the bass goes away and the treble kicks in. This is the same with anc on but even more bass. The ear does readjust after some time though. The tap control feature can very unresponsive at times because they say you should tap in front of the ear or on the earbuds themselves to get it to work, but I find that repeatedly tapping on top of the ear as in the flabby cartilage part, works WAY better. Surprised thatâs not how the tap control was advertised.BY FAR my favorite thing on the linkbuds fit is the background music effect within the sound connect app. That âcafeâ effect is really really cool. That feature is 5 stars on its own!Overall they are good earbuds with decent sound outside the box, really good anc and impressive ambient mode which is a step up from the previous model. My only cons are that I wish they were smaller so they werenât so uncomfortable when laying on my side and since they stick out so much for me, they are very noticeable out in public which I donât like, but maybe thatâs just my small ears.Again, that background sound effect feature is amazing! Good job Sony.

These Sony Linkbuds are pretty awesome but they should be considering they come with a hefty price tag.I have had terrible luck with earphones and earbuds (all but one – my current ones, have stopped working or are not working properly; static, one ear is not functional, etc). Since these are so expensive, I am assuming these are of superior quality and should last a long time, hopefully a lifetime *fingers crossed*.Now I was very fortunate in obtaining this through Amazon’s Vine program, so Thank You Amazon! I am grateful because there is no way I would have been able to afford these otherwise. Their current price, at the time of this review, is a whopping and not too demure $299.99, which is at the very expensive range of any spectrum. The buds comes inside a very elegantly designed storage case; it literally looks like porcelean, and yes, these do look expensive. The moment I took one of the ear buds out of the storage case, it immediately initiated the Sony app to pop up on my phone (clever technology) and I ended up downloading it and signing up. Not sure if this is required since the bluetooth works well enough if you just want to listen to music. The buds are an excellent size for my ears. Small, compact, these fit perfectly snug. I would state these are some of the most comfortable ear buds I have ever owned and I have no issues with them falling out.The sound is also impressive. Crisp, clean, clear; in comparison to my previous buds, the difference here is immediately evident, these are superior. These buds boast in being noise cancelling and I have to hand it to Sony, they did an excellent job with these as these are the closest to noise cancelling as you can get. The tap controls are still a bit iffy but I am never able to master this feature on any of my ear buds so this is more a user issue and not really a product issue. Now the one area where these are similar to the cheaper alternatives is the battery life. The battery life once charged is not as impressive as its sound performance. These last a fairly long while but I’ve had much cheaper earbuds that lasted an eternity more when fully charged. However this is not that big of an issue considering I still get a few hours out of them which is not too bad. Also inlcuded are additional bud tips, manual, and charging cable type-C.Now are these worth the high and mighty price-tag? Dunno. Yes, these check off all the boxes in looks, performance; sound and features. But I cannot comment yet how durable and long lasting these are since they are still brand new. For the moment, the performance here is top notch, and the features and overall quality are excellent. If you can afford to spend $300 on excellent quality Linkbuds, then go for it. I will be taking good care of these and am hoping these last me forever and a day since I am loving the sound experience so far.

These buds are very comfortable and light, the sound features are impressive, I frequently use the noise cancelling and ambient sounds functions. There are a bunch of audio features like it can detect when you start talking and disable ANC so you can hear the person you are speaking with. I have used these for music but I would say I spend more time listening to podcasts, but the Spatial sound, 360 reality audio, the DSEE extreme settings really set these apart. The app can help you discover and configure the proper settings for your ears, it will even help you select the correct size tips and it can even use your phone camera to ensure your earbuds are positioned correctly. The case is small and fits the buds quite well, I’ve tested the Link Buds S before and I think I prefer the case that the S came with over this one, however I only use the case to charge the buds so not a huge deal. These buds are very similar otherwise to the Link Buds S, and I don’t know if the battery in these is similar but after 2 years the batteries die out and one bud will drain battery super fast, it gets super annoying, I’m not saying these will do the same but something to keep in mind considering the price tag I would expect these buds to last at minimum 4 years.I will come back to update this review as the buds age, but right now they are my go-to buds for everyday use, mainly phone calls and podcasts, with a little bit of music here and there.

When I tried the headphones on they felt great. The tail is a nice touch and it fits just right into the concha of the ear and they feel very comfortable. The sound (when you find the correct setting which can take a long time), was great. It’s crisp, clear, and packs a lot of bass. But after that, the user experience is overtly complicated. To get the true experience of the headphones, you need to use the Sound Connect App. The app itself works fine, but there are so many options that it can be overwhelming. In order to get the full user aspect out of these headphones, you need to use a 3rd party and a paid subscription to use the “360 Reality Audio”, sure you get a free trial sent in the box, but no thank you. The next is their adaptive sound control. For this, you need to use GPS tracking and use precise location so that it can track if you are walking, sitting, at home, gym, etc… I don’t know about you, but I don’t think a headphone app needs to collect this data and then sell it (which is in the disclaimer when using this service). Not to mention it shreds through your phone’s battery and the headphone’s battery (which is not great, they last only a few hours before needing to be charged). It wasn’t that great because when I would go on walks outside I could never head my podcast with cars whizzing bye, construction around, or when my toddler was talking to me in the stroller. With my Jabra Elite 8s (2nd gen) and Huaweii Freebuds 4i, I was able to do so. The noise cancellation on the LinkBuds are far inferior to these other two headphones as well. The one feature that was semi nice is the speak-to-chat which works well when walking with my daughter because it will pause whatever you are listening to when you start to talk to someone, but the options are either 5, 15, or 30s and the 5 is way too short and teh 15 seems long, it’d be nice to customize it or a 10s option. But even this is flawed because if you are doing something and you say a word or two to yourself, it will pause the music or if you try to sing/hum along, it will do that too. I felt over burdened with all of the options and it just felt more cumbersome and constantly playing with the settings to get it to my liking. For now, my go to headphones will be my Jabra Elite 8s.
