Easy and Fun to Use
Really fun and easy to use. Bought this for our grandson’s 6th birthday, he and his 4 year old brother have enjoyed it quite often since. A bit of a learning curve and some help needed to follow the provided patterns. But they can design their own creations without any help. It’s been really fun to see what they come up with! The picture is a Magikarp Pokemon the 6 year old made his first day using this!

I bought 12 start pens for the school library. The students have accidentally jammed at least 4 of them but 3Doodler works with me every time. They have replaced them and let me know what the problem was. Even though I’ve had to replace so many pens, the product is not defective in any way; it’s kids not listening to instructions. Were they to follow my instructions thoroughly I would still have the original 12 I purchased (roughly 2019). The ones the kids haven’t jammed are still going just fine. As for the product, the Start+ is a bit young for junior high kids but they are easy to use and maintain and the pen tips don’t get too hot. The students’ favorite thing to do is wrap the melted plastic around their fingers or wrists to make finger cages, rings, and bracelets. Starter+ is perfect for it.

Great kit my daughter loves
My daughter thought this pen was so much fun! I got the used-like new one and it had a problem where the motor didnât work. Heater was fine. Ended up using my spudger, opening the white case, and noticed the motor wasnât plugged in the socket on the pcb, which maybe was why it was returned. Plugged it in and we were in business!

Absolutely awesome gift for kids ages five through 12. Kids can use this to create 3-D artwork. It is a great price but the refill can get costly. It certainly keeps kids entertained that is fun to use. Many kids may start in their stem labs or maker space.

I bought this on Prime Day to give to my 6 year-old grandson on his birthday, because it looked interesting and it the price was right for a toy that could be a fail, but wouldn’t break the bank if it was. He loves it! He loves to draw, but the 3-D effect of this pen fascinates him. I’m back to order more of the filaments (he calls them “candles”).

I love the concept of this pen however in practice it was underwhelming.First of all, the filament does NOT go very far. Each ‘project’ in the booklet required numerous sticks of filament. The 70 sticks of filament included in this kit were not enough to really make much. If I hadn’t bought the added 250 pack of filament my child wouldn’t have been able to make much at all. The robot shown on the box IS actually a project however it took DOZENS of sticks of filamentfor my child to make it (but it was all rainbow colored because there was not enough of any one color to make it as shown.NOTE: Note each stick ends up costing between 12 and 22 cents (!). That means the robot ‘sculpture’ my child made required around $10 of filament. :(Pros: low temperature extrusion means that materials can be touched prior to hardening and won’t burn little hands.Cons:1. Expensive to use. Each stick of filament does not go far at all and replacements are expensive. Every little project seems to use at least a half dozen sticks of filament to several dozen. On average, I believe that we’re spending ~$5 of filament every time that this pen gets used.2. Plastic extrusion is very soft and hardens slowly so it is very difficult to make anything 3D. Instead, the best approach is to ‘draw’ pieces of something on a flat surface and then assemble them.3. It gets jammed up periodically. We have only ever used official name-brand filament but the pen still seems to get plugged up and stop extruding periodically. With 20+ minutes of fiddling I have been able to coax it back to functioning each time so far but the motor sounds like it is lugging more after each jam. Fingers crossed that I it will last until the next birthday when my child will get a different 3D pen.B

La verdad es un producto muy bueno, a mi hija de 5 años le encantó y le pareció muy bonito y los diseños muy buenos. Es un tanto difÃcil de usar al principio, pues el cargar las barritas de colores puede costarles un poco al principio. Al principio le frustró que no se hacÃa el 3D directo, si no que tenÃa que estar uniendo caras en 2D, pero una vez logrado esto, fue un excelente regalo que disfrutó mucho.
