    Just Wow!!
Okay I bought these after seeing a review from CES. I wanted to replace my Poxel Buds pro 2 because they just disappointed with fit (things fall out all the time even with the new twisty thing) and thought I’ll give these a try. I wanted buds that didn’t fall out (or feel like they were about to fall out), and these are the answer. Fit is amazing and stays in place. I was a little weary of sound quality but, dang, these things sound incredible and can get really loud (almost too loud paired on my Samsung 24 Ultra). Sound is rich and clear and, no, others can’t hear what I’m listening too even with the volume cranked.Do I miss ANC?? No! Honestly, ANC is kind of a pain – it drains battery and you constantly have to turn it off or take a bud out if someone starts talking to you. An aside – can we just all agree that if you have buds on, that’s a universal sign for DO Not Disturb?? Anyway, I found myself doing that all the time walking my dog and after using these, I think I like open ear (and the added awareness) much better than ANC. If you think you’ll be distracted by outside sound (like i thought), you won’t be. It’s an odd and comforting in-between experience where you can be lost in what you’re listening to but also be cognizant of things around you if you want to be. You may have to try these for this to make sense.Comfort? Yes and yes. I forgot these things were even on my ears.Battery life? Umm- 48 hrs! And you get that without all these special conditions. Pixel buds got 12 hours if all features were turned off and I was listening to AM radio and my left arm was raised at a 30 degree angle. What about calls and the mic? Again, better than I hoped. My friends couldn’t tell I was on wireless buds (I asked), when speaking even on a windy night outside. Is there anything wrong with them? Not that I can see. Pairing was seemless, Shockz app and features are great, smooth interaction and I like that there is a physical button and touch gestures to control the headphones.Nothing is perfect though and here is what I would change:The position of the physical button. I accidently press this every time I put them on – it’s probably the way I put them on so I maybe I can adapt. The case – So the headphones look and feel like pure quality. You can tell right away that these are designed to perform and last. The case, which I’m sure is equally well designed but just feels like an after thought and I think that’s because it’s so light. It works perfectly and this could very well just be a me thing. Also with the case, these things fit in their little home perfectly – too perfectly. They can be a little difficult to get out. I have big hands though so again, could just be a me thing. All in all, great set of wireless open ear buds. Exceeded my expectations and eliminated my “concerns” about life with open ear headphones and I think all 5 out of 5 dentists would agree with me here.

    Amazing!
These SHOKZ OpenFit 2 are an impressive upgrade that delivers on all fronts. The sound quality is exceptional with crisp highs and rich, natural bass without distortion. What really stands out is the comfort – you barely feel them during wear, yet they stay perfectly secure through workouts and daily activities. The 11-hour battery life powers through full days, and the physical buttons are far more practical than touch controls during exercise. Water resistance holds up well in light rain, and multipoint pairing seamlessly switches between devices for work and play. Call quality remains crystal clear for meetings. At the price, these deliver premium features that actually enhance daily use. Perfect for active professionals needing reliable earbuds that transition smoothly from workouts to work calls. A genuine upgrade that excels in both comfort and performance. Highly recommended!

    Good product!!
I am extremely impressed with these headphones! The sound quality is outstanding—crisp, clear, and with deep, powerful bass that enhances the listening experience. They are incredibly comfortable to wear for long hours, and I barely feel them on my ears. The secure fit makes them perfect for various activities, and the physical buttons are so much easier to use than touch controls. On top of that, the battery life is amazing, lasting up to 11 hours on a single charge. These are definitely superior to the previous generation!

A nice upgrade from the open fit
My early impressions of these are good. Sounds quality seems similar to the openfit, even potentially improved. Overall quality of these are approaching the quality of in ears, but still noticeably not on the same level. Sound is still a bit muffled and not as detailed as a similarly priced pair of in ears. Overall though it’s quite good considering they are completely open. If you value a completely open experience, I don’t think the sound quality will be an issue. Can’t comment on sound leakage, but they are definitely audible, though quiet, when held a few feet away. The physical buttons are by far the best “upgrade”. Its a little sad that they are swinging back to physical controls now after pushing touch controls for so long, but it’s still very welcome. Controls aren’t the most customizable, but they do everything you would want, volume control, play/pause, skipping tracks. Compared to the touch controls of the openfit these are miles better. There is still the option to use touch controls in addition but it’s very limited. The case is also an improvement too. It seems lighter than the openfit case, though also maybe slightly flimsier. The best improvement though is a button for Bluetooth pairing instead of having to rely on the touch controls.Comfort is a slight step down for me compared to the openfit, but only just barely. They are slightly heavier and the slimmer yearbook doesn’t distribute weight quite as well. Still very comfortable, but I notice these on my ears more while wearing them.Multipoint works exactly as expected. I have taken a call or two on them just fine. Can’t speak to voice quality but I have received no complaints.I would say these are a win over the open run pro 2 if you value sound quality (though it’s not that big of a difference) and the compact tws style. Otherwise the open run pro 2 are going to be more secure, but obviously more bulky, both when wearing and storing, and they don’t have the case to top off battery. My original openfit had many issues with the charging case, and would eventually fail to connect to the case. Meaning they would stay powered on and connected to my phone until the battery died. Sometimes one would refuse to charge, sometimes both. I went through two replacements for the same issue. Hopefully the openfit 2 doesn’t have the same issue, but it’s too early to tell. Also hopefully the ip55 rating, which is a step up will help with that as well.4 stars for now. The physical controls, sound quality, case, and ip55 rating are welcome upgrades over the original openfit. But the slight comfort downgrade, relatively high price for open ears, and hesitation about how they will hold up especially with sweat and exercise is keeping them a 4 star for me.

I have a passion for audio. I have tested numerous earphones/buds from Amazon. I’ve heard of Shokz but never tried it. Naturally, I jumped at the chance to try the New Shokz OpenFit 2 Open-Ear Headphones. Some headphones emphasize treble, some tweak vocals, some boost bass. The Shokz OpenFit 2 delivers the music as is. There’s no emphasis on highs, mids or lows. It’s natural – what Hi-Fi should be. You will not get fatigued from long listening sessions. While open-ear headphones can’t compete with silicone tipped earbuds for deep, low bass, I never felt the Shokz lacked bass. There’s enough for a natural, musical sound. The bass is amongst the best I’ve heard from any open-ear earphones. The Shokz are light and small for open-ear. They fit me perfectly even with glasses on. I can shake my head and they don’t come loose. I love the way the earpieces dangle without touching and irritating my tragi (the cartilage in front of the ear canal). They are so comfortable I don’t even feel them on my ears after a while. The Bluetooth range of the Shokz is amazing. With my phone on the main floor, I can find zero dead spot on the second floor or the basement. It is however very sensitive to interference from my microwave oven. While my other earbuds just stutter, the Shokz emits loud pops. Pausing the music fixes that. The controls on the Shokz are a bit weird. It has both physical buttons and touch controls. See the picture of the manual. The controls are supposed to be customizable via the app. That’s only half true – like saying any color you want so long as it’s black. The touchpad is only for Voice Assistant. Controlling playback is via the physical buttons. Single click is always pause/play. Long press is always volume up/down. Prev/Next is the only place you can choose double or triple click. This is my biggest complaint. These days, any earbuds with app allow full customization of the buttons. I have so many earpieces that I’ve standardized the controls on all of them. Sadly, the Shokz will forever march to its own drum. This is inexcusable at the price of $250. I’m taking one star off for this. The New SHOKZ OpenFit 2 Headphones are the best sounding open-ear-phones I’ve heard. Get them for the amazing sound, range and comfort. But be aware the controls are not fully customizable.4 StarsUpdate 2025/01/19After using these extensively, I think the OpenFit2 deserves an updated review. These are by far the most comfortable in my stash of earphone/buds. They are incredibly easy to live with. Unlike silicone earbuds that stick out from my ear canals, I can wear these under winter earmuffs. The pressure is spread out so they don’t hurt. I can wear them snacking and not hear crunching like with sealed earbuds. I can even wear them lying on a pillow and they don’t bother me like earbuds. The sound has also grown on me. While my favorite silicone earbuds still achieve deeper bass, the OpenFit2 delivers a bigger and more airy soundstage. The stereo imaging is more precise. The vocals appear more focused. I’m hearing nuances I didn’t notice before. These have become my go to earphones. If you’re an audiophile like me who shied away from openear buds due to sound quality, give these a try. You might be surprised how good these are.I’m upgrading my review of the OpenFit2 to 5 Stars.

  6. Customer Review

Spoiler alert. The OpenFit 2 headphones are a major upgrade to the original OpenFits. While the two look similar, they are different beasts. The two versions are not interchangeable in the charging cases. The original uses a three-ring connection, and the new version uses a two-prong connection. Both cases lock the headphones in magnetically and pass my shake test.I’ll review these upgrades and mention the one improvement that made me love them.I was a big fan of the original OpenFits when they came out two years ago. They were comfortable for all-day wear and ideal for runners wanting situational awareness. You can find my very positive Amazon review here; [https://www.amazon.ca/gp/customer-reviews/R1JEMM3O2Y5XR4/ref=cm_cr_getr_d_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B0BYSQDWRT](https://www.amazon.ca/gp/customer-reviews/R1JEMM3O2Y5XR4/ref=cm_cr_getr_d_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B0BYSQDWRT)The OpenFit 2s (which I’ll call the OF2) are more comfortable than the originals, with thinner and more flexible ear hooks. They’re a gram heavier, but this is not noticeable when wearing. The OF2 uses Bluetooth 5.4, and the multipoint connection to my iPhone 16 Pro and Mighty Player was instant and rock-solid. The original OpenFit used a rather clunky pairing method, which every user hated. Shokz listened and gave the OP2 a dedicated analog pairing button.Sound quality is personal, so I won’t dwell on this. However, the OF2 is noticeably louder than the original. Bass, never a strong point on open-ear headphones, is dramatically improved and similar to the leader in the field, the much less comfortable and heavier Oladance Pro. There are now two speakers in each headphone, one addressing high frequencies and the second handling bass. It’s like having a tweeter and subwoofer stuck on your head. :-)The battery life is rated at 11 hours, more than enough to get me through a 50-mile trail run. The case will charge the headphones for up to 48 hours, and a quick charge feature will give you two hours of runtime with a ten-minute charge. (It usually takes me ten minutes to find where I tossed my sneakers.)The Shokz app has a clear control panel that lets you tweak the sound to your specs and offers a five-point equalizer. The OF2 offers a find my headphones command, so you can easily find that missing earphone. Every headphone should have this feature. The IP rating has increased from IP54 to IP55, a significant upgrade in water protection. Although this sounds minor, IP54 protects against showers, while IP55 protects against a much heavier downpour. Now, for my favourite new feature: The OP2 has a physical, tactile button. I prefer an analog button to control volume, playback, and phone calls. I live in northern Canada and wear mitts five months a year. Digital controls are useless when you are wearing two pairs of heavy mitts.I don’t run with my iPhone, but I did test quality with the IP2. Calls are clear, and the four noise-cancelling microphones cut distortion in the wind. (It’s always windy where I live.)Many races that ban headphones will allow open headphones, but check your particular event.Skip this paragraph if you don’t run with the Mighty player. While the Mighty is the ideal playback device for runners, I’ve found it can often be cranky, responding to control via headphones. The OP2 seamlessly controls my l’il Mighty.Kudos to Shokz for eliminating plastic in their retail boxing and shipping the OF2s in a biodegradable package. In conclusion, open-ear headphones have come a long way since my beloved Bose Sports Open in 2021. (These were the most uncomfortable headphones I’ve ever worn, with a meagre few hours of battery life and the worst charging connection imaginable. But I still wear them because I love that granular tube-like analog sound.) Competition for market share is aggressive, and Shokz has listened to customers and the competition and made a good headphone even better. This new version noticeably improves sound quality, runtime, and comfort. Adding a physical, tactile control button is reasonable enough to warrant an upgrade.

I converted to open ear earbuds about a year ago mainly because I found this design so much more comfortable when wearing the earbuds for several hours, but also for the unparalleled situational awareness this type of headphones allow. The drawback from the beginning was the sound quality. The open ear earbuds I got simply didn’t sound all that good, lacking in clarity and bass. The OpenFit 2 are a big step up from my old pair. The design features two separate drivers which significantly improves both bass and the overall detail in the sound. This is complimented by the Shokz app that lets the user customize the sound with several built in EQ presets or a user defined one.In a quiet environment the results are great and the sound rivals that from my traditional ear canal earbuds. Outdoors or in louder places, the it of course gets a bit muddied up, and from the pure sound quality standpoint the open ear earbuds can’t really compete with a traditional designs. Obviously the main advantage for this type of headphones is the ability to hear the environment and to maintain the awareness of your surroundings. For this, even in-ear earbuds with a good transparency mode don’t compare favourably and the OpenFit 2’s design easily wins. The earbuds use ear hooks to stay positioned in front of the ears. The hooks are pretty thin and I find them very comfortable to wear, even when wearing glasses. No problem having them on for 6-8 hours. Definitely not something I can do with traditional earbuds. The fit is very good and these can be used for running or other sports. They work really well in the gym or in an office – you’ll definitely hear when called and unless the music is very loud it’s easy to have a conversation without taking the earbuds off.I really like the physical buttons for controlling the headphones. I tend to struggle with accidental touches on the capacitive buttons, and find the buttons on the OpenFit 2 easy to use. Big plus in my opinion is the ability to customize the button’s actions in the app, so I can set up them to work the same way across my variousCall quality is very good with the same caveat as with listening to music – if you are standing at a corner of a really busy intersection in mid day traffic you might not be able to hear the other party very well. They should hear you great however, as the microphones on these earbuds work really great. This is definitely the best pair of open ear earbuds that I tried. I really like the design with physical buttons and the sound quality is a big improvement from my old pair. The drawback is that the OpenFit 2’s are pretty expensive and without a question, there still is a significant gap between the sound of these and a pair of comparatively priced in-ear earbuds. If the best possible audio experience is your goal, then the OpenFit 2 probably won’t deliver. Similarly if you need noise cancellation for example for airplane travel – these are not for you. If your goal however is to have all day battery life and great ear comfort and you’re willing to compromise on the sound for the massively improved situational awareness – this is a really good choice.

Im not an athlete and don’t work out that often, so this is from the perspective of a casual person. I also have the airpods pro so ill be comparing it themPros:1. First of all, packaging is really nice, tooless and sustainable. Everything seems to be some sort of paper/carboard and barley any plastic besides on the earbuds themselves to remove a plastic peel.2. The case is very light weight, but is a little large, due to the size of the earbuds themselves3. Pairing is super easy4. They WONT fall out of the case easily. You can shake them pretty hard while in the case and they don’t fall out5. Fit wise, this is the first time I’m using earbuds like this, and it seems odd but its comfortable. Doesnt have that same in ear sensation as traditional earbuds. Doesnt feel like you’re stuffed up.6. No noticeable latency7. Sound quality is on par with other traditional earbuds. I would say its not as immersive as regular in ear buds like my airpods pro, but it gets very close. I do think the bass is punchy, but not very deep compared to my airpods pro.8. Earbuds themselves charge fast. 5 mins in the case and it went from 20% – 50%.9. Touch controls are straight forward, and there are physical buttons.10. Being able to hear the world around you without feeling stuffed is cool. Transparency mode is good for some things but just being able to have it open to hear everything is nice.Cons:1. If you’re using just one earbud, it feels and sounds really weird. I need to have both in to be immersive and having just one is really weird to me. Compared to airpods pro having one earbud in is fine but for some reason I HAVE to have both earbuds in my ears to feel not weird2. If you’re like for audio fidelity, its good but not amazon. This is just the limitation of the earbuds themselves. They don’t go into your ear or fully around your ear. It does still sound very clear and clean however.3. Weird tingling feeling after wearing them. Normal earbuds, if you wear them toon long your inner ear can hurt. But wearing these for a while gave me a weird tingling feeling all around my ear or wherever it touched my ear.4. Lastly, I have this constant sensation that the earbud feels like its falling out of my earbud. You know that feeling when you have regular in ear earbuds and they’re about to fall out but they’re still inside your ear? Thats what it basically feels like all the time. I thin its just something you have to get used to.Overall a very good product, top of its class most likely. Battery is insane and it comes from a very well and respected company. If youre into fitness or just want to hear the world around you more naturally, these are the way to go!

These are great sounding and comfortable open-ear headphones, but they are not all-purpose headphones. Although the addition of AI noise cancelling microphones benefits the person you are speaking with on a call, it is unable to provide noise cancellation for you as the listener. This is an inherent limitation with the open-ear design since Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) requires a closed ear design to control the sound being let in. These headphones are meant for longer wear periods in regulated sound environments.Despite the open ear limitations, I’m still giving these headphones full marks because these headphones are employing technology to make the best of the inherent limitations of the open ear approach. I am not suggesting that these are not a great option. Just like saying that wearing shorts are better than wearing pants. The best option depends upon the weather outside. The same goes for headphones. It depends upon your environment.I really like open ear headphones when not in a noisy environment because they do allow for much more comfortable and longer wear times without causing bacterial growth in the ear canal from the lack of air flow, which can lead to ear infections. I also like to use in-the-ear or over-the-ear headphones when mowing the lawn or commuting on the bus, or listening to movies on the plane to drown out the background engine noise. In those situations I need to use headphones with Active Noise Cancellation, and boy does it make a huge difference allowing me to relax and unwind, but those need a closed ear design. I think they both have their purpose depending upon the environment. These are an excellent choice in a controlled environment such as at home, in an office, at the gym, or at the airport terminal where you don’t mind having what you are listening to getting drowned-out occasionally by important notifications. These headphones do blend the comfort of open air headphones without having a strap running behind your head, and they are surprisingly secure on each ear. I was already a fan of open air headphones because of how they keep the ears unobstructed, but the ones I’ve been using had a strap running behind my head. I had tried a similar pair of headphones that were separated for each ear, like this one, but the ear pieces were larger and heavier. They also had a flexible hinge and they didn’t hold onto the ear very well and just ended-up hanging from the top of the ear and would flop around when I moved my head. I couldn’t angle my head too far to the side or the headphone would fall off. It also meant that they didn’t hold their position very well against the ear so much of the sound quality was lost because of not being secured correctly to the ear. I gave up on those and just went back to an excellent sounding $40 pair of open ear headphones with a band that ran behind my head. That band ensured the headphones stayed in place against the ears. However, those headphones had no microphone noise cancellation so when making calls outside, even the slightest wind breeze would make it difficult for people to hear me during phone calls. These headphones have a much better fit onto the ear with no hinge and are very light and have flexible silicone that does a great job of holding their position. I can easily move my head in any direction without them moving around or falling off. Music and audiobooks sound great and phone calls are crisp and clear too. The microphone noise cancellation means the person I’m speaking to can hear me very clearly despite being outside with a slight wind breeze. The button controls are very easy to use and I really like the physical button. I’ve had problems with touch buttons activating functions when I was just fumbling trying to find the button by feel only. I like that I can either enable the touch button features or keep it disabled and just use the physical button by changing settings in the app. I no longer have to worry about accidentally calling the last person I spoke with, because of an accidental button touch.Overall, I think these headphones are great, as long as the buyer understands how they will be using them. I would not consider these “all purpose” headphones, just like I would not recommend people wear shorts all year round, but in the right environment they are a solid choice.
