Perfect STEM Gift: Fun and Educational Mega Cyborg Hand Kit!
I bought the Thames & Kosmos Mega Cyborg Hand STEM Experiment Kit as a Christmas gift for my 9-year-old son, and it was a huge hit! From the moment he opened it, he was excited to dive into the building process. The instructions were clear and easy for him to follow, and he managed to assemble it mostly on his own, with just a little guidance. Watching him figure out how each piece fit together and seeing his pride in completing it was priceless. The kit provides a fantastic hands-on learning experience, teaching mechanical concepts and the basics of hydraulics in a fun and engaging way.Once assembled, the cyborg hand is incredibly cool. It fits comfortably, works smoothly, and my son has been having a blast testing its capabilities, like picking up objects or pretending he’s a robot. The fact that itâs adjustable for different hand sizes means heâll be able to use it for a long time. This STEM kit is not only entertaining but also educational, sparking curiosity about engineering and science. I highly recommend it for any kid who loves to build, tinker, and explore how things work. It’s a gift that keeps on giving!

Very cool
Great for gifting, there are some steps that may require an adult. The pieces need to be cut out and burs removed from edges and that requires sharp scissors or a blade depending on age that may require assistance. The hydronic components also require lubrication and precision cutting of tube. Overall itâs not very difficult and itâs fun and silly as a toy that you can have fun with for awhile. The instructions include stories that are fun for kids too. Definitely recommend

Not an easy build but the kids loved it
I bought this for two families for Christmas. It is definitely not an easy build, it takes parent help and time. However, it is pretty cool once finished. Both the 6 year old and the 10 year old loved it.

Great building and playing experience, but broke quickly
Santa gave this to our 9-year old son for Christmas last month. We had a great time assembling it together, and our 5-year old discovered that cutting the pieces out is one of his favorite things to do – which is great, because there are a lot of them. ð I definitely recommend buying a Micro-flush cutter like the kind used for modeling kits to assemble this. Any other method would be cumbersome. Youâll also need a very small Phillips screwdriver, but I think most parents these days probably already have one of those for toys. I loved the hydraulics/pneumatics lesson in the middle of the instructions book. The kids LOVED playing with it once assembledâ¦but part D18 that connects the thumb to the rest of the hand broke in a matter of days. ð¢ The good news is that Thames & Kosmos has a replacement part request form on their site. We submitted a request and are waiting to hear back. Iâll update with how that goes. The hand also works as a âclawâ without the thumb, but the kids are currently pretty devastated. Hoping the manufacturer can help us out.Update: adding a star for customer service. Within a few days of notifying Thames & Kosmos, we received an email stating that they were mailing us a replacement part for free. Will update to five stars if the rest of the parts hold up over time.

The expression says it all.
My son is 6 1/2, and was able to build 85% of this on his own or with very minimal help. We had the special clippers that made snipping out the pieces super easy without having to file down the burs. Her said it was the best present ever. Was great for spending time together and a great learning experience for him. This was all I was hoping it would be and more âºï¸

Great hand
Oooh we LOVED building this. Bought for my 6.5 year old. It was tricky to build but he was able to help. Not an independent activity but I was ok with that! He can pick things up with the hand, seems like it is made well, directions can be confusing for some sections

Things not included
Cool product, I would definitely say needs an adult to help build. Box did not come with mini screw driver, so trying to find the right size to work was a bit difficult. Instructions didn’t inform you on what you needed for size. Got half of it built and then when we got to the hydronic part, the instructions did not state what type of pil to use and did not provide it as well. Other than that once we can figure out how to build the rest then this would be a cool hand.

While the parts in the box is all complete, the box is dented and the seal is broken. Meant to be a gift for a little boy. Lesson learnt to buy toys from physical stores in the future
