Great fun and very clever design!
This is our second Exit brand escape room and we enjoyed it very much. It was a difficulty 2, which for our group was just hard enough to be fun. We had to tap into a few clues to keep the game going, which means the challenge of it was right on. Some of the puzzles were very easy for us because we kinda knew what to look for when it came to Exit puzzles, but others were still surprising. If you like puzzles, cyphers, and games requiring keen eyes for complex clues, this is a great starter game. Iâm definitely curious what the next level of difficulty will be like!FYI, these are one-time use games. You will, in the process of playing, have to destroy some of the game materials. So be aware that theyâre selling a one-time experience. We have a great time and look forward to another Exit escape room game in the future.

Harder than we thought!
Harder than I thought it would be. Used at a birthday party of seven girls ages 8-11. That was too many people. This game is absolutely for 2-4 players as advertised. It really takes patience which seven young girls donât have. We skipped to the end, but I plan on buying again or maybe a different one. My daughter is a huge LOTR fan so weâd probably do this again. Luckily none of us paid attention enough this time to remember what to do a second time!

Very Fun, Surprisingly Challenging
We had a blast doing this at-home escape room! It was a great date night for me and my husband. We have done one other Exit escape game (Enchanted Forest) that was also Level 2, but found this one more challenging. It took 3 hours! Knowledge of The Lord of the Rings world makes the experience more fun, but isnât necessary.

Just played this with my husband and our 18yo daughter today
We’ve played other Exit games before, as well as puzzle adventure PC games, “escape room” jigsaw puzzles and real-life escape rooms. We are also huge fans of LOTR. So we were really excited to play this. It took us about three hours but we stopped to talk, eat snacks, etc, and weren’t totally focused on the game the whole time. I was surprised our daughter wanted to play it with us, since she’s at an age where she’d rather be with her friends and doing her own thing, but she was really into it.The idea is that you are additional hobbits who help the main characters by solving various puzzles which insert you into the story of the books/movies. For example, you distract Shelob so she doesn’t go after Sam and Frodo, or you search the Prancing Pony for Aragorn to give him a message from Gandalf, before the other hobbits arrive. I thought it was creative and well-written, with a lot of love for LOTR.The supplementary materials were really cool, including shards of Narsil, little cardboard Ringwraiths and a map of Middle Earth. But a few of the puzzles left something to be desired. We don’t mind a challenge, but a “good” puzzle in our opinion is one that points to a logical solution if you look hard enough or think it through, not one with random assumptions pulled out of thin air.We had to use the hint cards several times, only for them to tell us exactly what we already knew, and ultimately we had to read solution cards for a few puzzles, which made some strange leaps that didn’t seem to be indicated by the clues. This is why I’m giving it 4/5 stars and not 5/5. But overall, it was worth it to spend a fun afternoon with our daughter.

Fun and somewhat challenging.
My husband and I played this and really enjoyed it. Some clues are not that difficult, while others are challenging. There was one where we had to use the solution card because we were never going to get there on our own. Overall, a fun game.

Fun game!
We had a great time playing this game. There was 3 of us and it took us an hour and 45 minutes, we used 4 clues. Some steps were really creative and fun being equally challenging and easy enough to figure out with some persistence. Some steps were a little frustrating bc without clues we would have never been able to figure out (spoiler) something to take apart. There was A LOT of reading as compared to the Abandoned Cabin Exit game we did a couple weeks ago. It is fun for the family with older kids and adults alike!

The flow went really well, we didn’t use any hints. There is a lot of lore to read and that probably took up 10-15 minutes of reading. I feel that if you don’t know LOTR, this won’t be as fun.The puzzles were great and diverse.

For something rated 2 out of 5 for hardness it seemed difficult! Took a Scout patrol 4 hours 15 mins to complete with a couple of clues from an adult leader. You actually only properly destroy one part, and you get a second set of that bit, so with a little reconstruction you’d get a second play through for another group. The accompanying sounds from the optional app worked nicely too.
