The Caldwell shooting rest is quite simple to put together. The plastic is reasonably sturdy/strong and is built well enough to support any rifle that’s intended to fit on top of it.When we put it together, however, the rear rest had a gap in the gasket and the plastic rest. We contacted the company to see if the tolerances here are correct. No response.Emailed again (as they ask you to). Nada, zilch, zip.So, we used it. One thing to note is that an AR-15 with a 30 round magazine likely won’t sit properly as the magazine extends too far down and will raise the weapon off the rests. So, we have on order 2 10 round and 2 20 round magazines to see if that helps.We DO like that you can take it apart and use only the front rest for a pistol, as an example. This helps with zeroing in a dot or checking the accuracy of the sights.We do like that it’s very very light. And it remains somewhat sturdy.

Finally used this to sight in my 308 and was really surprised how well this worked. This will pay for itself bye reducing the shots fired to zero that new scope.
