If you like Shiva Rea this is a must-have
It’s great. There’s loads to mix and match. I’ve bought it twice now cause when the first DVD stopped working I realized it was an irreplaceable part of my yoga library.I prefer it overall to the Fluid Power (but I am a fan of that one as well)

Beautiful scenery and beautiful yoga
When I first bought this DVD a few years ago, I tried it but didn’t like it because of the slow pace. Now, it’s one of my favorites. I do a lot of intense cardio and heavy weight training, so adding Vinyasa yoga to my program has really increased my flexibility and lowered my stress levels.Vinyasa yoga is defined as flow yoga and focuses on breathing and movement. It is suitable for all levels.What I loved about this DVD:**the breathtaking scenery of the Maldive Islands and Southern India. The gentle sounds of the waves are especially relaxing.**the sitar music gives the DVD a true yoga feel. The indoor scenes look like they were filmed in some sort of Indian temple. For me, this is very appealing and part of the whole yoga experience. This may be too much for some folks, who prefer their yoga to be more of a stretch routine.**Shiva’s voice is very calming. I feel relaxed just listening to her.**the preset practices give you good variety. I love doing the beginner flow when I’m tired and want to do a little something. Both Solar Flows are about 90 minutes long, so I save these for when I have lots of time. The Lunar Flow is perfect for an end of day workout.**the matrix option allows you to build your own workouts. Since I don’t do this DVD very often, I can’t remember the details of each section, so I find it hard to build a workout. I tend to use the preset routines. Some of the section times are not accurate, so it’s hard to judge how long your workout will be.Some things to be mindful of on this DVD:**there are some advanced poses, like handstands and bakasana(advanced crow), which should not be attempted unless you are very strong and have done yoga for a while. Shiva does emphasize you should do what feels right for your body, but sometimes it’s hard not to want to mimic her exactly.**sometimes Shiva does mirror cuing and sometimes she doesn’t and this can be a bit confusing. It used to bother me at first, but now I focus on the movements and don’t worry whether I’m on the correct side. I just make sure I do both sides.I highly recommend this DVD for anyone wanting a comprehensive Vinyasa yoga practice. Because of the variety allowed by the matrix, you will not get bored with this DVD.

a great purchase
I chose this DVD based on the large number of reviews, most of which were positive. The level of instruction on this DVD is great for people at a late beginner or intermediate stage in their yoga practice, but you can also turn off the instruction and just flow if you are more advanced. Shiva also describes/demos alternative poses that are better for beginners or for different body types and strength levels. I consider myself to be intermediate and have been learning a lot just by watching Shiva in the DVD and her yoga mastery/artistry. I love that you are getting many workouts in one purchase and the yoga matrix is fabulous. Building your own workout with just what you want can turn this product into anyone’s perfect, custom yoga DVD. One thing that I would change for myself is that many sequences contain postures that I cannot now nor will ever be able to achieve (based on my body proportions and injury sensitivities) – mostly arm balancing poses. I find that I need to fast-forward through these segments, which does interrupt my flow. I could choose to skip segments that have these poses, but in almost every case there are plenty of other poses in the segment that I do want to do, so I just deal with the fast-forwarding. I also know that if you cannot get into a posture you can just stay at the preparation stage, but I usually find that the preparation stage does not do anything for me. Clearly someone who can already do these poses or who is genuinely working toward them will not have this same complaint. Because you can choose your own workout with the matrix feature, there is a slight learning curve in maximizing this DVD to your preferences – as soon as you learn what postures are in each segment you can build your perfect workout. For instance, it is possible to select segments that end up giving you a workout full of twists (I actually love this!), or with too many back bends (my body has a limit!). This isn’t a flaw in the DVD, just something to beware of as you build your workout. Because of the matrix and because there are 4 ‘built-in’ workouts, I still feel like this DVD is new every time I use it.

Not very good for beginners
Like I said, not good for beginners. There’s no real instruction, the music overpowers the voice over, and she is standing rather far away on a beach silhouetted by the sun, so it’s not easy to see the actual movements you’re supposed to be doing. Very disappointed.

Very personal.wether you.like or loath the approach of any teacher, I went through a few to find someone who wasn’t TOO crystal’s & light or wafty. She is a bit, but just the right amount for me! She is super top.world.class but always has levels that anyone can do, or at least it is easy to dial down the difficulty and you don’t feel a failure ð I have three of her dvd’s and think they are tops..

I bought this DVD few months back, I really love it! and I strongly recommend it.I’ve been attending yoga class few years, on and off due to various reasons. This DVD keeps me practising few times a week at home at my own convenient time; Because it provides a great feature to allow you design and select your own routine. It offers 4 standard routines, but allows you to select individual component from those routine to customize and create the one best fits yourself.After tried different component in 4 standard routines, I became very clear on which component I liked most; then I created my own routine and stick with it.The instructor’s voice is soft and good. The background ocean sound is calm and good too.Overall, I’ve very happy with it. And very happy that I final bought something that I really like it.Although the price is a little higher; especially for Canadian.

Ottimo per chi desidera integrare a casa con sessioni di yoga individuali. A me piacciono molto l’approccio di Shiva Rea e la sua scelta di sequenze per ogni sessione. Ho trovato non particolarmente intuitivo il programma che permette di creare sessioni personalizzate, ma l’idea è davvero interessante.

Shiva Rea is always excellent, but this DVD is the one I love the most. The yoga matrix is very diverse in terms of choice. You can tailor your practice to suit your time/energy/focus each day. There are also 4 preset practices. The movement meditations are so lovely. It is beautifully shot and the music is superb. Pure, challenging, and wonderful!
