Great value if you need a set
Most of my brass jags and bronze brushes were in need of being replaced. I could make use of half the calibers in this set so I figured it was good value. I also wanted to upgrade to steel or nickle plated brass jags as I’m tired of the false positives I get on patches for copper tests. I will admit that the poits of the jags in this set could be a little sharper (I think the plating process kinds dulls them a tad), but no big deal. No fals positives now and the brushes are the best I’ve ever used. Of course all the tips mate very well with the Tipton carbon fiber one piece rods and it all works a treat. If you look up reviews on this set, you will find that most of them show the old set in the big red box. The pics listed on Amazon show the newer (current as of early 2013) set. The brushes are in their own larger box vs the jags in a smaller box. You can either hang each box on the wall, lay them flat in a drawer, or (and this is the really neat part), hook them together and they form a stable base on the bottom and each side opens to get the part you need. Tipton came up with a very nice and versatile storage system. Yeah, it looks a bit odd when you put them together, but it works really well. I for one am all about function over style, so I’m happy with it.The only real issue is lack of plastic brushes for aggressive solvents. Since I have now moved on to Weapon Shield CLP (its a synthetic oil based displacement cleaner instead of a normal solvent), I dont have as much use for them. Its the aggressive solvents that wear out and mess up the brass and bronze jags and brushes anyway. I expect this brushes and jags to last through many years of regular use if cared for correctly. Wipe off the jag and brush of any cleaning and oil compounds when finished. Keep a little jelly jar filled with isopropyl alcohol and let your brush and jag soak overnight after use. Take them out, air dry them, and put them back in their boxes. Put the lid back on the jelly jar and your good to go. Again, when cared for and not abused these should last for years of regular use.On a side note, if you dont think you will use more than a couple of these then buy each one as needed. For their price this set is a great value, but only if you can use alot of them. Dont waste money on a bunch of calibers you have no need for. Save it and put it into other cleaning supplies.

Everything in one kit
I bought these to have a kit with everything. They came in some nice kits that you can keep in your cleaning kit or hang on your wall as I did. Now when I clean rifles I have what I need right there. These are good quality and help me do a good job cleaning bores. As a shooter for over 45 years I highly recommend them. Nice set to own

Great set, good quality.
Brushes:The brushes are good quality and long. I like the length of them, as it gives me more cleaning area in the bore in one stroke. I did about 6-10 passes in each bore using Hoppes Elite, and it cleaned everything out of the lands and grooves. The brushes seem a hair oversized, which is also a plus to me.Jags:The jags may not work with your old patches. I had to cut my patches in half to be able to push them down the bore, but when I did, the bore was very clean. After scrubbing, I ran two dry patches down the bore, then one wet, one more dry, then an oiled patch. This leaves the bore shiny and clean with a VERY light coat of oil.Overall, it’s a great set. I wish they made one with shotgun and a .50 in there, but for the quality and span of calibers, I definitely can’t complain. In reference to another review, they are ALL threaded the same, save for the .20 and .17.

Nice set
Well I had some basic cleaning supplies that were scattered hand-me-downs, and I decided to get a nice kit. Every one of them, even the expensive one’s had mixed reviews, saying that they all were made in China cheap crap. So I decided to just piece one together, it’s a little more expensive, but I’m happy. I like the cases they’re in, and it comes in a good mix of the mainstream calibers, a nice kit rather than buying brushes and jags separate, which would cost a fortune. The only down side is that they don’t come with any large bore shotgun gauges, but I bought a few extra things to complete the set. Also their are no I-hooks for patches, and you will need an adapter for your shotgun brushes, if that didn’t come with your cleaning rod. I had one good sit down, gun cleaning party with multiple calibers and they do the trick. I can’t really comment about the durability of them after one use, but they seem to stand up good. I don’t expect wire brushes to hold up forever. Some people were sold on the cases some of those kits were in, I keep my stuff in a little tackle box, and has the top dividers shelves that fold out, a good, cheap solution(10$) to keep random small things organized.PROS- A nice kit rather than separate, individual purchases. Good and compact cases that keeps everything separated and labeled. Good value.CONS- Doesn’t come with large bore shotgun gauges

Nice fit
The jags and brushes have a very nice tight fight in the barrels. Haven’t use them enough to see how durable they are but they seem nice. The box is very cool to place in the wall and have all those calibers at hand.

I love this set
I love this set. The jags are very well made. They fit very snuggly in the bore and do a great job of cleaning. The finish is highly polished and the nickel plating is an added touch. I think they clean as well or better than the brass ones, and no false positives when using copper cleaner. The brushes are the best i have ever used. They are not cheaply made as most cleaning kit brushes. Truly a very good set of jags and brushes. They come in separate cases that can be hung on a tool board or snapped together back to back and carried in a range bag. Good deal on great tools. I would recommend this item.
