My 8″ Echo Show was getting a bit glitchy
Oh, it still works, but I am older, I was having trouble sometimes being able to see the small screen well and so I decided it was time to replace it. I did vaccilate back and forth between the next larger one, but where I had the 8″ one, this 10″ Echo Show works better. The size of this one’s screen is exactly what I needed – much, MUCH easier for me to read! It was easy enough to set up and am, right now, listening to one of my Audbible books on it. Very happy with this 10″ screen Echo Show. Oh, and I like the sound module – the larger bottom section – to be exceptional compared to the sound from the 8″ one.

Takes getting use to.
I’ve only had this a few days and so far it’s all about learning how to use it. I think it will be really good once I iron out all the kinks. So the first thing is forget the instructions they are worthless. Unfortunately Amazon seems to have a habit of not giving good how to use instructions. Go on YouTube and there is an abundance of how to videos. Once you do that it all starts making sense on how to use the Echo show. I’m learning more everyday and liking it more and more. I bought this to monitor my cameras around the house but found way more to do with it. One thing I don’t like at all is the stand by screen. There is no way to stop adds from showing even if you go into settings and change your display to your saved pictures. It shows a few then goes back to adds. No way to shut that down. Very poor design in my opinion.

I am no stranger to Echo devices and am always hoping for the best but left scratching my head.There are plenty of videos out there comparing echos paired and/or with sub. I have found they just aren’t as good as a decent soundbar set up. I’ve got a Vizio M series 5.1 and it’s far superior.There is a place for this though and it fits in well. I’ve always had good luck with Amazon refurbished products. When this was served up at almost $100.00 less than new I decided to give it a shot. After two days here’s what I think.The sound is fine. Plenty loud and clear. It could serve as a sole listening device if you don’t have huge expections. It’s compatible to Echos. I have two of those with a sub on the patio and it’s fine.The screen isn’t something I care too much about but it’s clear and always willing to sell me more things I don’t need. I like the integration with Wyze cameras so I can see who is at the door so I can ignore them or in the case of cult members trying to prepare me for the second coming, prepare molten lead. Yes the screen follows you around but after a day I disabled it because it was usually pointing in the wrong direction. Easy to do. Microphones work well even with the music loud. It seems to understand better then the echos and gets it right more than not.Set up is easy if you’ve had echo devices. I did try to set up the Vizio via Bluetooth but for some reason the Alexa app doesn’t see the soundbar.If been disappointed in the past with pairing echos to Fire sticks. It’s always been a mess so I won’t try.So…for the price I paid this is a great setup. The screen is a nice to have, but not a need to have. This is a niche item, maybe for countertop or workspace. If you don’t care about the screen then an echo will do just fine for less money.I’ve played seamlessly from Amazon music, TuneIn and Serious/XM.

This is great for our kitchen. It follows you as you move around the room. Love the usefulness of this product. I just wish Alexa would be better. Hopefully the next iteration of Alexa is more of an AI.

Ads, ads, ads – and not a security camera when you’re away
So, this thing is otherwise really cool, and at first it only had the very occasional ad, but now it’s like every 3 slides is a @#$& ad! I really do not want ads in my living room.And, there’s no way to get rid of them. With the Fire Tablet, you can pay extra and ditch the ads, but with the Echo Show, you can’t. Until Amazon fixes that and lets us unsubscribe from ads, I will not be buying any other Echo Shows.The bombardment of ads is so absolutely annoying and tacky, I’m only giving this one star. If I could opt out of the ads, I’d give the thing 4 stars.And as to the security camera feature – how you can access the camera and use it to look around your house – really cool idea, but it only works if your phone is on WiFi. It will never load the camera feed if you’re using mobile data, and there’s no way to tell it to allow this. I don’t know about you, but when I’m away from home, my phone is rarely on WiFi. This ability to check in on my home with the camera while I’m away was one of the draws to me deciding to buy this, and it isn’t even practical since your phone has to be on WiFi. I’m using an Android phone, so I can’t say if the iOS Alexa app has the same issue or not.Oh, here’s another negative, it applies to all Echoes: it can’t control Fire TV devices that aren’t on the same account it is. In my Amazon Household – you know, linked accounts sharing Prime – the Fire TVs are on my husband’s account because they are the gadgets he wanted and uses, and the echoes are on my account because they’re the gadgets I wanted and use. Well, I can’t tell Alexa to do anything with the Fire TVs, even if we say “switch account” to get into hubby’s, unless I either move all the Echoes to his account or all the TV’s to my account. Meanwhile, the Echoes can control our Roku TV just fine!

Game changer in our house
We originally bought this due to my heath issues and needing out youngest to have access to emergency services and family if needed without getting her a phone.Little did we know how much we would use this for photo display, calendar , list, music, recipes and drop in phone calls on our older children when we arenât at home. You can set up who can drop in and make calls. Send messages etc. No issues as of now.
