I put it together in 10 minutes!
Rosie loves her new scratching station! She took to it right away. Everything to assemble was included, a sturdy double ended flat and phillips screwdriver, extra screws, non-slip pads to attach to the bottom, cushions to put on the back to prevent it from rubbing on the wall, and very clear instructions with pictures. They even included a little ball that fits in the groove at the base and a little packet of catnip in the kit. It is cut out to accommodate baseboards. It was so easy to put together for this old girl. It’s rather attractive with the wooden connectors, so I won’t mind putting it in my living room. So, Rosie has a new scratcher and I have a handy screwdriver for my kitchen junk drawer! You won’t be disappointed with this purchase.

Torn on whether a 4 or 5 star is warranted.
However I’ll give it 4 for two reasons. Stats show people will read 4 star reviews first. Secondly, assembly is a make or break issue with this product. You can’t just slap it together. If you make a mistake there is no going back. This is a very nice product if you don’t screw it up.
Find a flat counter top or floor and play around with the pieces to understand the best fit. I would not use tape to hold a test fit. Tape and cardboard ans wood finishes don’t mix well. If you have some Harbor Freight cheap bar clamps, or big rubber bands, or even some twine or ribbon to test fit the pieces before you decide the best screw points, all the better. But you can do with just your hands too.
Once you have determined this, center point with a tooth pick your holes before screwing in the plastic cardboard screws. If you mess up, there’s no starting over.
Snug the plastic screws, do not “tighten” them. If you screw up, it’s over. You can not reposition the parts like with wood. For this I remove a star.
Here’s what I found. Align the cardboard larger blocks with the curve in the wood pieces where the ball sits in place. The far ends will be long, but there is still enough material to place a screw.. But if you align the far ends flush, or try to make the boarders all even, the ball slot will be too big. So try to assemble things and get your best positions marked out, then screw it together. I might seem to be complicating things, but no. The instructions give you a great general idea. However if you put things together slowly and with thought, this is a great cat scratcher toy.
The ball in the slot is a great feature. The cats really work to get at it.

Rug Saver
This product is saving my expensive rug from the ravages of my beast. We used a vertical scratching post but our cat rarely used it. This post in the horizontal position gets attacked regularly. She loves the texture and really gets into digging deep. There are little bits of cardboard about after her sessions but this a little tabby that tore a buffalo hide toy apart in a hour. This product is easy to assemble and fits in nicely in our dining room. The only drawback is it’s a bit expensive but then cheaper than my rug.

My cat loves this… too much lol
My cat absolutely loves this. It was really easy to assemble and he goes to town on it! I find him even scratching the couch less which is great. It doesn’t make much noise at all, is sturdy enough where my cat is pretty big, and has held up for two months even though he always uses it. He uses it on the bottom and top, and has fun with the ball. Unfortunately, it does leave little cardboard pieces everywhere, so giving it 4 stars for the cleanup.

High quality cardboards have been used.
