good starter kit
This is a fun starter kit for kids to explore in the woods and build excitement for getting outside! A few things about this kit worth noting:* The binoculars do not magnify very much. That doesn’t stop my kids from loving to use them, but I wouldn’t use these for any serious birdwatching or anything.* There are two compasses in this kit. The official compass (on the bottom of the 3rd pic) and the one on the side of the whistle (top of the pic). The one on the whistle pointed in the correct direction. Despite being on a flat surface, you can see that the actual compass does not line up in the same direction. The compass is fun to play with due to the moving parts, but if I need to actually navigate, I’ll choose the one on the whistle.* The other side of the whistle has the current temp, which is a great feature. I also like the whistle itself – if kids are exploring I like them having a way to give a signal or help find them if they get too far away.* We chose to put the items in a different backpack, as the drawstring backpack feels a bit thin and not as comfortable to wear when full. It’s understandable for the price point, and we had another backpack so it wasn’t a big deal.* The flashlight is fantastic. I LOVE that it doesn’t require batteries. Not only will it last better, and make more sense outside, but I don’t have to buy more batteries for it.*The magnifying lens is simple but an absolute classic piece to be included.Overall, this is a great kit for little ones to start exploring! I think my kids will get a lot of use out of the pieces of this set. Most of the pieces are primarily for playing, but there are some pieces there that would be useful in the woods as well!

Great Birthday Gift For A 5-Year Old Boy
This was quite a hit for the little boy who has everything. I got it to coordinate with something I had bought him over the holidays, a ranger-type outfit. The walkie-talkie’s were a huge hit and his mom sent me a video of him using it, replying to his sister on the other side of the house “Copy That.”

Cheap walkie talkies
Would love to know the trick to get the walkie talkies to actually work. I put new triple a batteries in both walkie talkies and neither one even turn on. Terrible because my son was most excited about those and this was a Christmas gift and Iâm not a last minute shopper so these are now beyond the return period.

Great activity for camping
I got this set for my 6 year old and he loves it. We took it camping and he used every item that came in this kit on his adventure. I love that it comes with a drawstring bag to keep it all in. The hat fit great and the binocular kept him occupied most of the day. I love that the flashlight doesn’t need batteries. And the walkie talkie allowed us to keep in contact while he was wondering around the campground on his adventure.

Awesome outdoor exploration set!
My son loves to use his exploration pack outside in the yard. He likes to use the binoculars and the magnifying glass to look at bugs and birds. We are trying to teach him how to use the compass but I think heâs still too young for it. You get a lot in this pack and itâs all perfectly sized for small hands. He loves to play outdoors so this was definitely a good purchase!

Perfect for kids that love to run around in the outdoors
I picked this up for my youngest as my oldest had received an outdoor explorer pack a few years ago, when my youngest was still too young for it. This outdoor explorer pack was even better than the first one as it also included walkie-talkies and a hat. My youngest immediately put the hat on, and I have to fight him to get it off at bedtime. both of my Littles really enjoy the walkie-talkie as they run about our acreage playing. I do sometimes hang onto one of the walkie-talkies and send them out with one that way I am able to communicate with the Littles without having to yell my fool head off to get them to come inside. This pack is amazing and everything is well made. This makes a perfect gift for kids that love to explore and it helps. Encourage their exploring.I received this item for free however, this is my fair and honest review.
