Purchased for grandkids
Grandkids loved it. I purchased two for grandkids living at different location. One was completed outside and the other inside. You definately need plastic or newspaper (which is a thing of the past for young adults), along with a spare container with some water to put rocks in when they find the rocks. Paper towels are also needed. Of course it’s a bit messy as expected but they loved finding them.

Fun little kit!
We had a lot of fun doing this kit with our kids. The gems and crystals are beautiful and make for a nice collection. It comes with a book to learn about each one, which is awesome. If youâre looking for a fun and educational activity to do with your kids, this is the way to go.

Engaging and Educational Fun for Kids!
The NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC Mega Gemstone Dig Kit is a fantastic way to spark curiosity and a love for geology in children. The kit comes with everything you need to dig up 15 real gemstones and crystals, offering hours of engaging, hands-on activity. The excitement of discovering each gem feels like a mini treasure hunt, and the included learning guide provides detailed information about each stone, making the experience both fun and educational. One thing to note is that the digging process can get a bit messy, so itâs best done on a surface you donât mind cleaning (or a cardboards) . Itâs also a bit challenging for younger children, requiring patience and some parental guidance to help with tools and techniques. But this makes it a great bonding activity for parents and kids to enjoy together.PROS: Includes 15 real gemstones and crystals for a fun treasure hunt experience. Educational learning guide provides fascinating facts about each gem. Encourages hands-on learning and an interest in geology. Great for developing patience and fine motor skills. Fun activity to share between parents and kids.CONS: Digging process can be messyâprepare a workspace accordingly. Younger children may find it difficult to use the tools and require adult assistance. The digging process may take time, which could challenge kids with shorter attention spans.

Gem mining
Purchased for grandchildren 6 and 8. Fun activity while searching for gems. Durable, great variety of stones, great color, easy to assemble. We worked outside so there was no noise issue while banging the form apart. Fun. Recommend.

Fun discoveries!
I purchased this for my 6 year old boys birthday. He is having so much fun finding several gems and âreal life â gold! Weâre Rich!!â My 9 year old daughter is probably more excited doing it with him and loves the discovery process. Definitely worth the purchase and now will need to buy more!!

Great gift and activity!
We got this for a gift for our sonâs 7th bday and he LOVED it! He got right into it and it kept him busy for a good hour or so. Every rock/gem he found was welcomed by a burst of excitement! It can get pretty messy so itâs a good outdoor project. I wouldnât recommend it for kids under 4. The rocks can be kinda small and might need extra help from an adult or older kid. He did the shark tooth kit around Christmas time and he loved that as well. Super fun and recommend it to a friend.

This product is exactly as described. It was a gift for my 5 year old daughter’s birthday and she was able to do it on her own. The water really helps to soften it up to make it easier. A little messy, but it kept her busy and kills time so it’s worth it! She really loves it and the gemstones she has found so far are great!

Déception au déballage…. la roche à casser pourrait au moins remplir le carton intérieur. Quand aux outils, n’en parlons pas.. De la cacaille. Je ne suis pas prête de racheter National Géographic… Mensonger.
